I was one of the lucky few to have been taught by this man. His humor and humanity affected me. I learned a great lesson about authenticity. God bless the great soul of this great man.🙏🏽🔥
Such a gift to have had the experience of Frank in person. I have a few dear teachers from the long ago past that I absolutely cherish to this day. Blessings.
I sat for days to meet the man, and one day I saw him all I wanted to do is say thank you, we had tea spoke and it was the most amazing moment in my life, fame doesn't impress me Im in show business but meet Frank McCourt he I wanted to meet, amazing man who said keep writing, don't stop we all have a story, I didn't expect anything like this. So humble, grateful I was
his writing forced me....no...wait...made me want to look at literature and reading in a completely different light. I became well read after I read Frank mccourt's biography. I was in my thirties. I am now 46 years old and I still cherish his three books and the lessons I've learned from him as a person. the pissy little kid from the lanes of Limerick with the sore eyes, and the scabby knees. god bless ye frankie.
I moved back to Israel and wished to teach here but encountered the most primitive and prejudiced people ever thanks to the education system going diwn the drain and when I found Frank Macourt 's book I found some hope ,i know I need to go towards teaching or learning at first how to ride above the primitive and the prejudiced . what a lovely melodic accent !what a testimony to the human soul !
Frank McCourt certainly did live a miserable childhood: useless sodden missing father, pitifully disgraceful mother, and bitter people all around. His 3 books are in my top 10. I re-read them every 3 or 4 years. He’s an inspiration. Thank you, sir.
The spirit that is in the Irish, or in the Irish Canadian or America, that survives a horrible childhood, makes them rise. It seems a gift in their minds that they will rise out of it, they will go forward. They can learn.
Ah Frank, the ending of this video made me tear up! Fair ple to ya man! Well done. You did it! From the lane's of Limerick you made it to the top! You put your auld city of Limerick on the map, those that didn't like what you said about the damp city were just sour pusses! I loved Angela's Ashes and you made me laugh and cry all at the same time. It's a gem. RIP
In McCourts book "Angela's ashes" he hammered his mother and never discussed his well paid employment with Jackie Brosnan. It was just misery misery misery the whole flippin' way.
@@sobbyhasselhoff I’ve always wondered was the sex consensual three days before she died, and that pat kenny fella is no better, he’s censored people before

What a wonderful experience. I'm 40 years old and stumbled upon Angela's Ashes about six years ago. Still my absolute favorite author of all time.
How lucky you are to have this great man as a teacher. I would have loved him. RIP Frank. 🙏

NUMBER 2 FRANK MCCOURT
Your english is not that good. In which language would you want to write?
Ah that’s crap
Such an authentic gentleman. And what a beautiful way with words and simply "being"!
All I can say is what a fine example of a human being and how important books are!
What a humble man. Education is training young minds to THINK.
His clear memories amazes me. Thank you Frank for sharing your incredible wisdom.
I exclusively went to Limerick to visit his museum. No words to describe the feeling.
😮😮
❣️❣️❣️ Maybe l will too, one day.
His writing is so descriptive you can just see without being there. I did make a trip Limerick to see where he grew up.
My favorite author. His brother, Malachy McCourt, is no slouch either.

He was peddling lies about limerick also, and certain people had drove all the way from limerick to confront him
@@darren2900 I wonder did Frank make up the name of the woman in Bavaria too? He seems to have a morbid fascination with necrophilia.

Greatly enhanced your reputation
One of the two surviving Irishmen who taught at my high school could not finish Angela's Ashes as it was too miserable.
The teenager was only invented when Frank started teaching - 1957.
