This is an amazing process to make home made liquid fertilizer. Everything used here is simple and affordable yet giving you a great product to use on your plants.
Fantastic! Thank you so much for this power packed video. I just started selling my composted horse manure (aged about 2 year) to expat customers here in Costa Rica. My next step is to make this manure tea from your great video instructions! PS Love how you call out people who go to buy organic veggies but then feed their flowers chemicals! Lol!
Thanks for the great feedback. Compost is the way to go. The manure tea is great for basically any plant you have and when sprayed in fields it is even better. Make sure to spray in the evening so the sun does not dry out what you spray. I know if gets hot down there. Yeah - don't like posers in the organic world. Thanks for the comment and have a great New Year.
This is awesome as fertilizer costs are through the roof! Do you use this full strength and how long do you let it set before using it. I want to use my big sprayer to fertilize my pastures of around 120 acres. Any help would be appreciated!
I would love to help. I do use it at full strength. Normally I will mix on one evening and turn the pump on and let it bubble for 24 hours. I then add the molasses and let it bubble until the next morning and then add to sprayer. Just make sure you strain the tea really well or you will clog the filter pump. Let me know if this answers our questions.
Nice one mate. I decided to make a cow poo tea pot, similar to yours when I saw the amount of seepage from my pile of cow poo I'd sourced from my neighbour's farm. You did make me laugh about the fertilizer as I'd just paid €50 for 32kg of lawn feed before I came up with the idea of a cow poo tea pot. An expensive lesson learned! Lol. 😁
We live and learn. Its a great way to get rid of unwanted manure and utilize it in a way that benefits the pastures and lawn. Spray later in the evening to allow the "tea" to ease down into the soil without getting evaporated from the hot sun. Thanks for the feedback.
@@StewartFarmApiary thanks for the tip, though here in the west of Ireland, a 'hot sun' is not something that is an immediate worry! There's a saying here that you know when it's summer, as the rain is warmer. 🌞
@@cliffwalton3440 I've had my fun in Wicklow so I know what you mean. It would work there still and just let it bubble an extra day. The microorganisms don't require the heat, it just activates them quicker. Hope this helps. thanks for the feedback.
I have real chicken poop I fill half of the barrel of chicken poop, then fill it up with rain water. Sit for two days. Take a paint strainer over my 15 gallon sprayer. Half a gallon of tea poop . Spray my lawn at slow speed.
Thanks for that very informative video . I am deffinitly going to try this . Just have a couple questions ......1 how long do we keep air rating the manure tea for after we add molasses ? 2 do we dilute the tea when we water our plants with it ? thanks so much ;)
Thank you for the feedback. 1. I will bubble for a few hours at the most after the molasses. It doesn't take long to get it integrated. 2. You do not need to dilute the tea at all. I put it directly on the pasture or plants. I hope this helps. Thanks for the great questions.
Im not sure of the exact time frame but I will say I have gone well over two weeks with it bubbling and still gotten great results. The main goal is to keep the microorganisms fed so air and a little molasses goes a long way. I hope this helps. Have a great week.
Do you need to provide air and water circulation via the aquarium pump or simply move the water via the submersible pump that is shown on the attached link? it seems to me that one pump provides air and water movement while the other provides water movement only. I really like your game plan and am shopping for a pump now. Just not sure which type of pump to purchase Thank you in advance
Great question - The pump I use is as simple as it gets. It provides air for the microbes and movement in the tank. I put the brick on top of the hose at the bottom to hold it in place. I am on my third year doing this and have had great luck. Remember not to go to big on the pump or the air will bubble all your good manure tea out of the top. My pump is not submersible. Just make sure you bring it in when it rains or it will be ruined. I hope this helps. Thank you for the feedback.
Jennifer - I see the issue with my link for the pump. I will have the pump I use up by the end of the day. Here is the link to the one I use. Hello, great video.Im new sub 🙏❤️ I want to ask, how much composted chicken manure should i dissolve in a 1 liter of water in order to achieve a good fertiliser for my flowering garden and should i first dissolve the tea in more water, before i water the flowers with the tea. How often can i water with this tea ?And can there be any trouble in terms of salt accumulation over time, since everything is in small buckets - 2-5 litre pots. Thanks in advance 🙏
Great question and thank you for reaching out. Honestly, I have not used a bunch of chicken manure - It is very high in nitrogen and should be used sparingly. If I were you I would try one fourth manure to three fourths water. Try it in a small area that is established and see how that works out. I do not fertilize but every three weeks to a month and that is nothing but manure tea. I think if you do more than that with chicken manure that you will have more foliage than product because of the high nitrogen content. I hope this helps. Let me know your results.
@@StewartFarmApiary thanks for taking the time to reply. I will use just a little for the flowers and will report how things went. Do you think that worm castings tea will be better suited for them and maybe ill left the chicken manure tea for the herbs on my balcony that i will be vegging this spring ? Also may i ask, does the slow releasement of the nutrients in the manure is still slow after u brew a tea out of them or is then readily available ? Thank u again ❤️🙏
@@chichodormi4732 You are very welcome. If I were you I would mix half chicken manure and half worm compost together in a mesh bag and try it. That way you have even a better way of being safe and also knowing what results you get. If you don't see a fast enough result you can add more chicken manure to the next mixture. Its a good way to find exactly what you want in forms of strength. Hope this helps.
Yes indeed. Nature taking care of nature. I love being able to utilize the things we already have to make other things flourish. thank you for the feedback.
Great question - there is no rhyme or reason to how much. What is great about the molasses is it will be in your tea regardless of how long it stays. So even if you only let it sit in there for a few hours, when you water with the tea is will get down into the ground you apply it into. Then it will help the microbes in the soil as well. I hope this helps. I normally let it bubble for a day before applying.
Great question - I can't say if you could or not. In my opinion I think the nitrogen content would be too high if not knowing the ratio. I like the fact that I can't really "burn" the plants with too much cow manure. I know you can with chicken manure. I don't like to suggest or discourage anything I have not tried so I wouldn't be comfortable saying. Thank you for the feedback and sorry I could not be of more help.
Great video. I raise 4 horses and plant a nice garden and I compost for my garden but never thought about making a tea for fertilizer. My question is should I use finished compost or can I use fresh manure to make a tea. How much manure did you use for 55 gallons of tea? It is hard for me to tell but it looks like you used about 5 to 7 gallons of manure.
Thank you for your question. I don’t get very specific with the measurement. I have learned that two 5 gallon strainer bags half full work best. I also use my compost also for making tea. I hope this helps. Make sure to spray in the evening so the tea does not evaporate.
@@tonyfrederick4038 Yes, - I always do it as close to sunset as i can so the moister of the night can get it down into the dirt. I sometimes drive through waist high grass to spray also. If the grass is really short it will dry out quicker

Straight tea. It is not going to burn your plants. It’s all organic. The more the better
