The Bobbie/Scotty/Laura/Luke made for great story for many years. However, in retrospect, Laura was much too young to marry Scotty. She escaped from Lesley and Rick's parental rules only to feel trapped by having to navigate her and Scotty's marital rules.
Scotty was a jerk. He didn't realize that Laura lost a father too. He was being selfish. And no they weren't changing his character to put luke and laura together. At this point luke was still suppose to die. Scotty was just a selfish, controlling, thoughtfulness man-child.
I hear you! I think that is why I like to stay stuck in the past. Really, the last 2 days on GH I couldn't even recap because I don't care that much. The last time I enjoyed GH when was the day earlier this week when all the vets were on. Back in these days it was so well written and everyone's storyline was important! No one day I am with this guy and tomorrow I am with this guy. Always a slow build to keep you coming back everyday!
They had a wonderful balance of action , adventure , romance , and even humor back in those days ! Gloria Monty had some brilliant ideas , and the cast was remarkable as well !
The writer here is Pat Falken Smith. She started in August, and she's listed in the credits on the August 24, 1979 show. However, she may have been working from outlines and scripts that Marland had left behind, but he was definitely no longer with the show at this point.
Luke said "I'll see you later" when he was standing by the fireplace with Laura and Scott at the QM mansion. I expected Scott to say something about it then but he didn't. He seemed so clueless about so much. I know. It's the writers.
Current GH is better than Guza years but it doesn't measure up to these years by any stretch of the imagination. But after seeing this I think I'm going to go back and start watching classic GH again. It will give me something to look forward to. I'm happy DA and GF are back but I don't look forward to the shows unless they're in the episodes. Thanks so much for uploading these. Aired on a Wednesday the first day of 8th grade 🏫 school for me The summer of 79 was the first summer i got involved in the whole lineup from 1230 to 400 our ABC affiliate did not carry THE EDGE OF NIGHT , IN fact they never carried the show during it's entire 9 year run 🏃 on ABC 12/1/1975 until 12/28/84 but they did farm EDGE out to a popular UHF channel in the market Ch 48 owned by Kaiser Broadcasting , ch 48 aired Edge at 1030am in the morning ch 48 carried Edge on a 2 week delay from 12 22 1975 until Friday 4 23 1982 ch 48 like wpvi coveraged the entire tri state area in a era where only 20 percent of American had Cable tv 📺 most people received there tv signals via a rooftop antennas or indoor antennas in a 5 to 7 channel universe that Sept 82 there was a low power tv station serving Atlantic County the owner of that station owned a Abc affiliate in Elmira NY ch 36 he had ch 36 send the EDGE tapes to ch 40 wmgm via overnight mail and they aired Edge ( circa September 1982 until January 1985 since they aired edge on a delay the show ran past the Abc cancellation date 📅 until early January 1985 if you made it this far and read all this I thank you.....

I am so happy that DA and GF are back. I just hope we get to see more of them soon! I do admit GH is better than the Guza era BUT there is nothing really to be invested in storyline wise because everything happens too fast. Back in these days you were waiting for someone to FINALLY get together or waiting for a crime to be solved but it was also interesting so you kept coming back to find out.

Laura is digging on Luke no wife who has a husband should be working at night and a wife suppose please her husband not herself .Richard Dean Anderson AKA Jeff webber and Chris Robertson AKA Rick Webber have chemistry like no other their characters are believable as brothers Great performances 👏 👍 👌 of course Chris Robertson can do a great scene with anyone so can Richard .Great Cast tho
Had Monica truly gotten her beloved Rick, they both would have been miserable. They're both too full of themselves. Alan was jealous because Monica gave him constant reasons to be. Her first phone call at the mansion was even Rick. Neither Monica nor Rick cared anything for Alan and Lesley after they had sex and wanted to dump their spouses when they'd done nothing but love them.
Yes!! That’s why it is so important when Rick was chasing after Lesley that she put him in his place and made him wait you don’t always get what you want just because you’re Rick Webber!
Amy is so subdued and coy ... something's going on in her head. Much more interesting character than the token gossip girl she morphed into under succeeding writers. Obviously, there was some plans to have her get involved with Alan.
Agree about Amy being subdued and coy. It's weird to see this. I don't remember this version of Amy. I only remember the gossipy front desk nurse. I don't remember her living at the Q mansion or her crush on Alan. I guess Amy had actual storylines once upon a time.
I think 1979 is still the end of the Douglas Marland stories. He wrote everyone with way more depth and layers, even secondary characters. I have no doubt that had he stayed longer, Amy would not have been played as just the gossip girl without a purpose. She would have had a plan, and a man.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is a video of Demi Moore when she first showed up on GH, kissing that boy, passionately on the lips. It's a GH party.
Because Laura blocked it out of her memory right after it happened so Laura was seeing Peter Taylor for therapy and she started to remember. Instead of admitting she got her memory back before Lesley went on trial for murder (she took the wrap to protect Laura because of her memory loss) Laura continued to pretend she didn’t remember and Lesley went to jail. So later Laura finally admitted to Lesley she remembered before Lesley took the blame. Lesley also lied on the witness stand that SHE not Laura was the one who had the affair with David.
There's a scene where Alan catches Amy puts on Monica's clothes and jewelry. There's also a scene after the attack where Laura ie screaming from fear when RICK GOES INTO HER HOSPITAL ROOM TO DO FEMALE EXAM!! L SHE HAS TO BE SEDATED.
I liked the sets better back then.Kellys was brighter,now so dark.I liked the Floating Rib better too.Plus I miss the hospital cafeteria.Now you just see styrofoam coffee cups coming and going from a pretend coffee shop.
