Alyssa, you should know that you're amazing. You're clearly the heart and soul of this project, and you're the reason you and Jesse are doing so well together. It's been nice to see Jesse show that he knows how lucky he is in the last couple of videos. I think it's incredible how hard you work, how resilient you are, and what a great attitude you have on camera. Keep that chin up and keep smiling! I'm quite sure you and my wife would be best friends if we were neighbors!

I don't believe that saying. Built two houses with my (ex-)wife. Marriage lasted 22 years... now all I can hope for is an earthquake and pray she's still in it when it collapses. 22 years to figure out I was married to a narcissistic control freak. Just couldn't take the abuse anymore.

I'm just passed I cut the 100' tree that could fall across the bedroom she sleeps in. Probably the closest thing to natural disasters I could of prayed for.

The knob at the end of the foam gun adjusts the quantity of foam that comes out when you pull the trigger in full , and if you screw it in fully it will stop the foam going of over night or a few days just clean the top with cleaner .

I've cut foam on a table saw and the bad part is that the 'foamdust' gets into the motor and the motor overheats. I burned up an inexpensive table saw the first time I did it. You can cover the motor vents with a fine mesh cloth like a scrap from the sleeve over your drain pipe. My best way of cutting the foam was with my reciprocal saw where I made a jig to hold the saw so I could pass the foam through the saw.

After your waterproof membrane is applied I urge you to use a dimple board on your foundation walls, you won't regret it. It's very easy to apply and overall quite inexpensive, it's benefits in reducing hydrostatic pressure on the foundation wall will virtually eliminate water ingress into the structure.

Jessi when snapping your lines buy yourself some red concrete dye. It comes in a powder form. You can just put it in your blue chalk box. It will mix fine. The dye will actually stay and not bleed out. It works on wood also. You won't have to use the clear coat. It will save you a step. Been building houses for 20 yrs now. That what we use.

Love the color of that top, Alyssa,
No matter how much thought is put into any process, there's always something left out. I feel ya on the gravel purchase. All those rocks you have there but not the right kind.
And isn't it nice to have such a helpful sister? Is she sleeping in the tent?

Gee , looks like fun :-)
Just think , in 25 years (?) , when you're babysitting your grandchildren , and they want a bedtime story , you can tell them all about the work you did all those years ago , that made the wonderful house , that Gramma and Grampa live in .
    Thanks for the video

25 years?! According to the "experts" in these comments this house won't last 25 months !! Bob, I like what you have in mind for the grandchildren, and the work and effort of the build will be a fine story in the years to come.

A hotwire cutter will make short work of cutting the EPS.

James H hot wire uses 12 volts and uses less power then the saws.

And the saw runs on what? Magic? The thing is, if you dont have a hot wire cutter but you do have a table saw it is not a hard choice which to use.

Patrick Radcliffe you have to work with what you have. especially when the store is so far away and you are on a budget.

I can make a hot wire in 5 mins. Does not make a mess.

James H it is a simple matter of making a bow some nichrome wire and 12 volt battery charger and viola you have a hot wire cutter. I've made one to cut foam cores for R/C sailplanes.
