Fabulous designer, great ambassador for the hobby, and all around class act. If the name Schwalb is printed on a book somewhere it's a guaranteed seal of approval for me. Rock on Demon Lord!

Questions: 1) how cross-compatible to SOTDL is this game, can you transfer stuff from one game to the other? Second: the “Godless” supplement supplies SOTDL with certain “modern” rules (cars, for example). How far could we expect something like that for Weird Wizard (either its own “modern fantasy” rule set or a mini-setting booklet with a “use ‘Godless’ rules and the Weird Wizard core book” note)?

I really wish she asked about Foundry VTT compatibility for this either of the two games.

I was going to buy Demon Lord and some supplements because they're on sale on Drive thru right now, but when I found out about Weird Wizard, I thought I should maybe wait for that instead because my friends might be put off by Demon Lord's setting (even though I like that dark stuff sometimes.) But I looked into it and a lot of people say Demon Lord can easily be used in a different setting or made less grimdark and more generally high fantasy by just ignoring the forbidden spells and corruption rules. Meanwhile, it sounds like Weird Wizard is more restricted to its setting because it assumes the specific objective of escorting the refugees. Am I misunderstanding this? Knowing me and my weakness to fomo, I'll probably end up buying both, but I'm still confused

;D would look into it but will stay with Shadow of the Demonlord. But on the other hand.... i don't get the big difference. Every major question (Character Generation) is not answered. The compatibilty is not quite answered (can i use path from Weird Wizard in Shadow of the Demonlord and vice versa)
The "character creation is easy" and "the world is not fully detailed so the players can fill it in" are parts that also the Demonlord does ....

I'm in the beta test. The major difference is a tone that is accessible to everyone instead of the death metal tone of DL. The math is similar, but will still require some tweaking between editions.
I like it because some of my players are sensitive to mechanics like "insanity" and would prefer personal horror to be roleplayed rather than forced on them. If you and your group are happy with DL, there's probably not much point to WW, it's more aimed at a broader audiences.

I love love love shadow of the demon lord and Robs work on WFRP2e.. It's definitely in my top 3 favorite rpgs (WFRP 4e, Old School Esentials and SotdL being my current favorites the past few years) I have two small complaints with his games firstly his rulebooks are 1990s level of chaotic and the rules descriptions are often long-winded and wordy, I wish he would discipline himself more as a writer and streamline his rules for greater efficiency in a more modern way. With a Sotdl book sometimes everything is all over the place or the word economy is unwieldy. He needs to see what the OSR community is doing in this regard, Old School Essentials for example is amazingly indexed and clearly written to the point where it's a lesson in terse writing that Rob could actually benefit from because he's an amazing game designer but he's the Stephen King of the rpg world lol great books but no discipline when his mind starts racing and he's writing down rules, it needs better editing.. He is though one of my favorite modern game designers so if he does read this it's constructive not venomous criticism ha. Secondly I'd prefer more easy modularity in his games, I think he builds things so tightly in his settings it's sometimes hard to just ignore them, like removing clockwork and other features if you wanted a more Swords and Sorcery style of game. It's not always so simple to gut them out because he writes rules and settings in unison.. his rules would benefit from being remove from the settings imop and add the options in a separate setting books
