Green Goblin is best Spiderman villain ever!
This scene was pure gold. A one-to-one conversation between the hero and the villain. The villain explains his motive and philosophy which has a root of sense to it, compares himself to the hero, tries to make him an ally for his pursuits because he recognizes the power and ability of the hero. The hero rejects the villain’s evil pursuit.
Short, sweet, and to the point with memorable lines.
I love this movie to bits.
Also the fact that he doesn't kill Spider-Man for rejecting him, but gives him enough time to reflect on what he said while the city actively turns against him.

It is unnerving realizing what Green Goblin say about the society get progressively more relevant as the time flow forward despite this movie is 20 years old now, you may not be superhero like Spider-Man but this will still hit hard if you are a good person who is in charge of something important like being a good politician or law enforcer, let say that you are good prime minister or president, there will be always people who hate you want to see you fall no matter how good you are treating them, that's the simple reason why what Green Goblin say hit real hard despite it is just a line from movie

Willem Dafoe was born to play Green Goblin
The Green Goblin, the only villain who really tried to team up with Spider-Man. He really allowed the option of creating atrocities and chaos together, and told him his own, albeit insane, but very close to the truth point of view so that Spidey could understand him. I like how he saw him not only as a rival, but also as a colleague with incredible abilities. As for me, this is another bright distinguishing ability of a Goblin from other villains.
The Goblin might be a villain but he isn’t wrong about people turning on you when things get bad.

Although his ulterior motives for wanting Spidey as a partner were not revealed, Goblin like Palpatine obviously desired power. Hence the reason for giving Spidey the option to join him willingly and deciding to kill him when the hero refuses.
