Finishing the game in every difficulty other than easy gives you an advantage, sorta. Beat the whole game in normal mode, and you'll be able to use silver weapons (unlimited ammo). Beat it on hard or black ops and you'll be able to use the M16A2, also with unlimited ammo, on every level from then on.
