Excellent! I found this video so inspiring, especially for those who are just starting out. I owned a Java Argento, changed to 105 group set and Ultegra WH-6800 wheelset, now weight approx 9.2, was thinking about changing the stock seat post, saddle and handle bar, hopefully can achieve 8.4kg too :)
Zack, just checking whether the funny sound (going over bump or rough road) coming from the S5D headtube or headset was finally solved? I remember seeing another of your video where you sent it to Rodalink for tuning and collected the S7D for testing. Thanks.
Hi Colin, yes turn out the rattling sound was just the internal cable knocking in the wall of the downtube. Easy fix, either they cut the tube to length or they will insert sponge to reduce the sound.
Hi Zack! Thanks for all Ur sharing and tons of effort pumped into it. Ur video helps me alot! Btw, d 1st few minutes of Ur video, where was it taken? I would very much bring my wife ride around there, it is so serene there. Ok, my question is, I have a cube peloton 2015 alluminium frame carbon fork with full Shimano 105 5800 11speed with Shimano RS100 wheels with Maxis Pursue tyre 25c. d bike weights 8.8kg. I wonder if I change to Ur DT wheels would be better and how different would it be? or is it I need to change to carbon seatpost and stem to feel different?
If I'm not mistaken, Shimano RS100 weight about 1.9-2.0kg...if you change to my DT Swiss wheelset you will only save about 200g give or take. I would suggest you to look for carbon wheelset instead as this will save you more than 200g. for example, budget option Avian wheelset weights about 1.4kg. Saddle will also save you plenty of weight. You'll save weight a lot more there.. Accesories such as handlebar, seatpost and stem will only save a little.
@@zbikelog thanks bro. carbon wheels, takut pecah when crash plus no budget. How u choose Ur saddle? how u choose without trying? I constantly adjusting my saddles to get d no pain. little degree up or down also get pain at bottom between my legs.
I’m using stock saddle, ok for me. Maybe coz I’m light, just about 60kg. But if you wanna try out saddle, some shop do offer you to try. Or you can borrow it from friends to try first before purchasing it.
Wow! 8.4kg and that's with pedals so more like 8.1kg without them just from some upgrades, do you have the weight of the old stock rims? as I think thats where most of the weight savings happened
@@zbikelog Thank you for prompt reply! I was considering this bike but didn't know if the frame was awfully heavy or the wheelset. Now I know it's worth getting and what to upgrade first. Subscribed :D
I have had to go back to my btwin triban 5 Sora groupset size is large I'm 190.50cm in hight and my bike weigh is about 9.5kg which I think is ok for Sora I have changed the wheels and saddle to lighten it. The handle bar is a 44 I think 😁 but my good bike is a focus izalco team SL size 56 running a 105 group set and Mavic cosmic 40 alloy wheels and rotor crank set 52 36 with and 11 32 cassette with a 40mm bar I find the narrow bars better for some reason, it is sitting at 8.3kg 😁 now saying all that I can go as quick on my btwin lol accept up hills
@@zbikelog no one winter bike and one summer 🤣 remember I live in the UK so I sometimes cycling in -3°C in winter with snow 😁 but I use my winter bike for the turbo trainer also 😁
For the question of whether or not you can go over 80 km/h: Yes, I went over 80km/h on a steep downhill and I have the s5, qr rime brake version of this bike lol. I hit like 55 mph. As far as on flat ground, maybe Mark Kavendish or Peter Sagan can? Actually, they go that speed on the sprint on their aero race bikes so probably not but I'll bet they can come close, maybe 40mph?
Hi did u experienced with your toe shoes touch your front tire when turning your steer? Btw im S5 user too size S my height is 174 and my shoes size is 46
Hey bro, i hvnt got the chance to try carbon wheels on this bike. But if you're asking me based on my experience with my previous build, yes i think it will improve more on weight and also performance. If you get those with 50mm deep wheels, definately will be able to hold higher speed longer and efficiently.
The frame is slightly race-oriented but still works well as an all-rounder. It supports up to 28mm tire, maybe still can go wider for more comfort. Personally, I would go down to XS, I'm 165cm by the way. The best is still to go to a bike shop to test the size.
@@zbikelog Thanks for the quick reply! So if pedals+cages weighs 300g, you got your S5D from 9.4kg to 8.1kg, then +0.3kg for pedals/cages to make it 8.4kg. That's amazing. Do you know which components saved the most weight? I have the S8 disc in small which weighs 9.1kg, not much lighter than the stock S5 disc.
Bro zack. You can't be serious when you say that this bike is comparable to boutique bikes like Stork and Willier?really???....I bet melvin's face is turning red. After all he paid over rm50k for his bike. ....but I tend to agree with you. Its the engine not the bike. I think we have been made fools of by clever marketing ....when a bicycle can cost the same as a car. By the way, I'm saving for a pinarello dogma, my dream machine.
Well, rm50k bikes have their own benefits, plenty of time, technology, research and development spend on them. So it has its own place in the market. What I'm trying to say is, if you were to start cycling, you don't need those fancy bikes to start. Even if you're an advanced rider, you don't need an expensive bike to enjoy the sports. To go faster, 80% is still the rider. Invest in yourself, a bike is just a tool for you to enjoy sports! Even myself have a dream bike, big fan of specialized/ s-work. 🤣
Just bought this bike today. Thanks for the clear and detailed review.
Zack, great review. One of the best I've seen for a bike. Thank you!
Very well described !! Slow and steady !
Thankss man!

Why don't you lose some weight easy
Hi. Great video. Is the S5 suitable for touring or long rides?

You can go for fulcrum racing quattro alloy weighs about 1700grams with some aero benefit of 35mm depth.

I have the problem with or without clip..but apparently is normal for small bike user like us. Just have to be mindful when turning.
how are the tpu soo far? any punctures and whats the mileage?
So far ok, replace twice coz it can’t hold the air for long. After 1-2days the tyre turn flat. So need to pump very often…
