The backing vocals of The Ron Hicklin Singers are much too shy in the background, 'cause they don't have any punchiness. They sound tired, sleepy, weak and powerless and they sound like they have little voices and little hearts as amateurs instead of big voices and big hearts as pros. They needed more improvement. That's what happened.

No, I did not ruin it, because I replaced the thinned-out tarnished bubblegum pop backing vocals from the original by partridge Family with the well-polished soul/pop background vocals behind Debbie Sims on her remake of this song, "I'm on My Way Back Home", so her version is better with more soul. 1:19 - 4:00

I thought the background vocals on the 1971 original recording of "I'm On My Way Back Home" were much too low and I thought there was no widowed mother singing the lead in her lower register with her kids singing in the background in both low, middle and high registers in the key of G major just the stepson David Cassidy singing the lead on this song in the D major with his stepmom Shirley Jones singing too shy in the background without punchiness.
