  • Stump and Stumpy were a dance/comedy/acting duo popular from the mid-1930s to the 1950s, consisting of James "Stump" Cross, and either Eddie Hartman or Harold J. Cromer as "Stumpy". Their act was mostly jazz tap, and comedy expressed through song and movement. - wikipedia

    Glad to have you back. I was nervous!!! We need y’all. This video was great especially after seeing the history of American entertainment as illustrated in the Bojangles video. From minstrels to vaudeville to Hollywood & Broadway. We ARE talent.

      Yes- tappers and hoofers and buck dancers always admit to stealing each others moves and improvising off of them. The same with piano players.

    Thank you, honeychile :). LOVE Stump 'n' Stumpy; only discovered them half a century late in 2002, on the "It's Black Entertainment!" doco DVD - www.imdb.com/title/tt0237343/fullcredits.
    They perform 2 bits in the first dancers section, and are intro'd by Russell Simmons himself (his company coproduced) and my beloved Gregory Hines. Vale, dear Gregory, you still got "a cute earring"! Much love always.
