    I was wondering about the top speed when i watched that original vid. Tbh i thought it would be a bit faster, i was able to get to 41mph on my own jet kart with a smaller engine and it was still accelerating, but i got sketched out.

    • @WarpedYT
      @WarpedYT  Рік тому +40

      Yeah I think I remember that, I also thought it would have been much faster like over 80 mph. But it was definitely on the balance point and the wind resistance was definitely doing its thing. I think with some more aerodynamics it would have probably done 70 or 75, but honestly if I want to go faster I'll just put more engines hahaha.

      I saw a guy who was trying to break the world speed record with a RC car having to do a bunch of things similar to what would hold back the speed from air drag
      That dudes problem was tires, it’s prob a combination of road type and tires
      40 mph with a jet engine is pretty sketchy, idk how the dude did 60 mph in one, I bet a pothole or bump is a nightmare

    - improve the aerodynamics with some covers over the frame and the bottom
    - side skirts for groundeffect
    - add 2 vertical parallel fins behind (each) jet engine that are controlled via cables and the steering for giving you vector-thrust in tighter turns; if you have oversteer and you need to counter-steer the vector-thrust can help you to get the rear of the go-cart back on track

    That was very impressive ! I was not expecting that level of speed and performance from only one of those engines. That jet engine packs a punch with out a doubt ! • @QuintonNG2000
    @QuintonNG2000 Рік тому +3

    Wow! I think a duct into the jets intake to take advantage of ram air at higher speeds would really help the peak thrust and top speed. Right now the jets intake is in a vaccum region which is fighting performance

    • @WarpedYT
      @WarpedYT  Рік тому +5

      That's what u would think but these are turbo jets, They don't pull in as much air as you would expect, most of the power from these engines comes from the fuel, If they don't get enough air they stall, that's pretty much it. I do however wonder if an air intake would increase the efficiency. See because no matter what these engines are RPM based, they're going to dump fuel until they reach the target RPM or stall in the case of not getting enough air. I'm definitely going to experiment with that

    Needs 2 or 3 jet engines for better acceleration and top speed lol

  • @unitimmy
    @unitimmy Рік тому +1

    I'd love to see if the single jet makes much more top speed with some ducts feeding it air. It seems like as the speed increases, inlet pressure would be dropping. It's possible the added drag ends up equaling the improved thrust, but it'd be interesting to see especially because it looks like when you have 3 jets there will be 2 operating in clean air

    • @WarpedYT
      @WarpedYT  Рік тому +1

      Well these are turbo jets, they don't really benefit from ram Air too much. With turbo jets if there's not enough air flow or the air pressure in front of the intake is too low then the engine will stall. The speed here is too low I would think maybe over 150 or 200 mph there might be enough of a low pressure zone behind the seat to reduce the amount of air to a point where it could cause problems, these engines get most of their thrust from burning fuel And they are RPM based, So the computer will inject fuel to get to the Target RPM. As for the 3 jets I am building a completely different setup for that.

Some would make a video just of that, for you, its just a 5 second time lapse shot (which is cool too). I can appreciate the time it takes to make custom stuff like that. Let alone the one off cnc parts, anodizing, building/programming electronics, etc..
    Happy i found this channel. You could probably make a separate channel just for 'behind the scenes' from leftover footage that gets cut/glossed over during a project like this.

    Alright, so more ideas getting explored here: Arguably the largest wond resistance is always going to be the person in the seat, maybe create a clear hood structure of some kind to reduce the drag? Or for shear numbers game create an entirely remote version with cameras installed in case you lose line of sight somehow.

  • @yoyococo9657
    @yoyococo9657 Рік тому +2

    Maybe with a better air intake of the jet engine you could get more thrust at higher speed, because with the current setup the seat is masking the intake of jet engine

    You should build some forced air ram ducts around the seat so that you get optimum air velocity rather than the turbulent air behind the seat. Not only will it perform better at mid-to-top speed it will also look cool. You would just need some ducts that wrap around the seat with a wide mouth opening tapering to the size of the jet intake. They do the same with mid-engine mounted jet planes. You're a master craftsman it would be a walk in the park for you.
