Hi Kevin wow what a wonderful place. When you think how long ago this was built what skills the people had then unbelievable, wonderful place it is Kevin . Looking forward to part 2 thankyou very much Kevin and Sue ,really enjoyed the video 📹 😀 😊 👍
Thank you Fiona 😊. Yes what an amazing place it was and so big. The skills involved would put some our modern day tradesmen to shame. Every time I go into buildings like that it always amazes me.
Stunning architecture! And what a wonderful moment when the bells chimed midday. The look on your and Sue's faces was priceless! I have just come back from a short holiday in Suffolk where the church towers were all huge too but this was on another scale yet again. Truly awe inspiring! Thank you for video.
Thank you Jean 😊. We had heard bells ring when we first arrived in Southwell but we were not expecting to capture the bells at midday that was really special. I hope you had a lovely holiday?
What a wonderful video! I'm writing about Southwell Minster for uni, you helped me immensely. Not much visual information about the cathedral online, and your video was a godsend. Thank you, Kevin, great job!
Wow, what great architecture, it’s amazing how they managed that in days gone by. Great informative video, just loved the inside of that building & the outside spires. Thank you for sharing it with us. X💕
Lovely sandy colour of the stone there. The size certainly suggests that the church held a more prominent position in the past. Beautiful interior. Thanks, Kevin, I knew of this minster but hadn't appreciated just how glorious the interior is. I do question the attribution of 'green men' to some of those faces. Faces alone do not constitute 'green men' but regardless of that I do love to see old carvings such as you discovered.
Thank you Andrew 😊. It was a great idea of Sue's to go there. It was amazing to see the building from outside, it was so big. The interior Andrew was much more than I could bring to you all on video. The carvings and the stone work were really excellent.
Very nice Kevin and Sue. Although the town itself is only small, it was an important place in medieval times and in the church at that time, hence it “qualified” for a cathedral. I’m off to see if I can find Part 2 now. Many thanks.
@Kevin's Rambles yes, I found it yesterday. I enjoy architecture and used to teach history. The internet can be a wonderful thing, because I am actually in Australia, living on an island in the Pacific. However, I do yearn for British buildings. I’ve been to Southwell and hope to visit again, next time I’m back. I’d forgotten about the “leaves” which are quite special. Thanks for taking us round.
Great video Kevin. What settings do you use for the indoor footage with your Gopro 10 (Resolution / frame rate / Image Stabilization setting / bit rate etc)? Cheers. Dave.
