- George Washington University alumna, actor and activist Kerry Washington, star of the hit TV show Scandal, was the commencement speaker for the 2013 George Washington University Commencement Sunday, May 19 on the National Mall.

Never knew that Kerry Washington was a PAS student! Despite all of the uproar that occurred when she was first named as the graduation speaker, I was always proud to have someone speaking who represented the arts and a group apart from the political science and international affairs major! Like Ms. Washington, I studied Psychology and Theatre while an undergrad here and I feel as though both passions were represented here as I received my Master's. Thank you, Ms. Washington, you were fantastic!
