- The San Antonio Spurs are an American professional basketball team based in San Antonio, Texas. The Spurs compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member club of the league's Western Conference Southwest Division. The team plays its home games at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.
The Spurs are one of four former American Basketball Association (ABA) teams to remain intact in the NBA after the 1976 ABA-NBA merger and the only former ABA team to have won an NBA championship. The Spurs' five NBA championships are the fourth most in history behind only the Boston Celtics (17), Los Angeles Lakers (16), and Chicago Bulls (6). The Spurs currently rank first among active franchises for the highest winning percentage in NBA history,[6] and have a winning head-to-head regular season record against every active NBA franchise.[7][8]
In their 40 NBA seasons since 1976-1977, the Spurs have won 21 division titles. They have made the playoffs in 24 of the last 25 seasons (since 1989-1990) and have only missed the playoffs four times since entering the NBA; they have not missed the playoffs in the 19 seasons since Tim Duncan was drafted by the Spurs in 1997. With their 50th win in the 2016-2017 season, the Spurs extended their record for most consecutive 50+ win seasons to 18 (the 1998-99 season was shortened to 50 games because of a lockout and based on their win percentage of .740, would have easily surpassed 50 wins in an 82-game season, and thus extend the record by 2 more seasons). Thus, since the 1997-98 season, the Spurs have had 20 consecutive seasons with a winning percentage of .610 or greater during the regular season which is also an NBA record. Only the team's current head coach, Gregg Popovich, who had been the team's general manager before replacing Bob Hill in 1996, has had a longer tenure with the Spurs.
Manu's free throws iced nearly every title
" I'm Manu. This is what i do !!!"
He should’ve made one more in 2013 😢
@@veerchasm1 sooooo many things should and shouldn't have happened that year.
That's exactly samething I said he was super important to their titles
And ran some extra time down when the ball was in bounded lol Manu took off!!! 🤣
Crazy to think that between 1999-2019 half the ships won have been between the Spurs and Lakers...
For big market team Laker it's not a big deal but u cud comprehend Spurs achievement by referring how many small market teams have won chips in the same period.
yup they were the two dynamos in the nba for quite some time.
@@mathai5456 Boy do you cut words.
@@mathai5456 it don't matter a small or big how ever your wanna be smart ass wanna say it the Spurs won and a win is a win so don't down grade my city were you from probly don't even know what a winning team is
@Michael LMFAO but Golden State had to stack there team to win the Spurs are pure talent team sorry ass bitches fuck you Golden State and you for mentioning them to bitch ass dude
Gotta say that spurs team during the Duncan era was beyond legendary, regardless if you were a fan or not you gotta admit that they were.
the spurs from 1997-2017 never had a losing season, always made the playoffs beat all 5 of their finals opponents and beat all the other 14 west playoff teams in their conference at least once in a series...and 13 of them with duncan…..they beat everyone they faced ….all 19 different teams they have played in the playoffs in that 20 year window they beat at least once ...crazy....no wonder why everyone hates them...
Asmosis Jones who said everyone hates them?
Spurs is underrated and needs more love they are a great team with teamwork
@@razkable we did but we actually lost to Miami in 2013
Ginobili is a legend...
Damn right he is
@@MrDarksword123 gracias manu , td and parker
pero el depositario de mi admiraciòn es popovich
esteban poyanco de noda amigo!
He is next hall of fame and Tony Parker too
Crazy to think until 2013, The Spurs and the Bulls were the only teams to have a 100% finals record
It's really not that big of a deal when you've only been to 6 finals each.
Greysen G. But to not lose one ever and still be unbeatable is something great. I wish my Spurs could have been for 6 for 6.
And how many teams in the modern era have been to the finals 6 times?
@@greyk610 lol you're a hater
@@greyk610 only
Lmao 🤡
Spurs r the model organization in basketball for integretiy, winning and respect. Coming from a cavs fan.
la impronta de pop y sus elegidos........................pop es el constructor..............gracias pop desde chile
That’s why when I was shopping around my fandom as someone new to the nba, I gave it to the Spurs.
@@gdkeen3307 No, be a GS fan, join us
"The Admiral, fighting the final wave." hit me so hard
Never gets old. Been a fan since thw early 90s....2013 still hurts tho.
thebystander hurts bad
You guys got revenge tho
Never brought myself to watching the replay. That Ray Allan shot is tattooed in my memory forever! Just painful.
@Brandon Ohara...I think what makes the 2014 title sweeter is you went through dallas okc and miami aka dirk kd and bron 3 rivals to duncan and the spurs at the time and the spurs after the 07 title lost the 08 12 and 17 west finals, the 13 nba finals, lost in round 2 in 10 and 16 and lost in round 1 in 09 11 15 and 18...to lose in every round like that is brutal and makes you appreciate the 3 titles in 5 years stretch and 4 in 9 they had...in the last 12 including this 19 year they have 1...
04 still hurts too
4:02 jesus look how much energy Manu had when he was young.. dear god how annoying he must’ve been to try and guard
pretty impossible to guard. Even when he was an old man he was too quick for most guys to check.
Ginobili was always a hell of an underrated player. He was just so court smart
He was James Harden before James Harden
courtney gates wayyyyyy more heart than harden.
So inspiring that pretty much the smallest market in the NBA can find so much success, I really hope they get back to being contenders soon
Spurs=GOAT when it comes to American sports teams they have been doing it longer than the Patriots and the Patriots went 10 seasons without winning a chip in the brady era the Spurs haven't went 10 seasons without a championship in the Gregg Popovich era Spurs are the best u.s sports franchise over the last 25 years end of story
brandon ohara no, they aren’t
BigSplash FTW prove they aren’t
What? You can’t compare 2 completely different sports.
Actually the Celtics & Lakers are the best Franchises. Throw in the Yankees and Red Sox too lol
djaramillo09 Celtics and lakers are the most successful not the “ best franchises “ like the original comments states spurs and patriots have been the dominant force in the past decade
San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers dominated most championships in the 00's
Spurs vs Pistons was the best. That series really had my emotions on a roller coaster.
Next was Spurs vs Heat probably
I was SO happy when spurs took out Miami in 2014, I couldn't stand that heat team at the time
@@MrDarksword123 it's also a good revenge /redeem story, which made it more sweeter
Game 5

Amazing
Being in San Antonio when the spurs win a championship is like no other. The energy is just so amazing. I used to love going downtown after they won a championship and celebrating as a city. You start high fiving people you have never even met before lol
Sounds cool I've visited San Antonio once from Chicago and I've always wondered what the vibe was like during Duncan's prime winning championships. I grew up hating the spurs but miss this team so much. Beautiful basketball
Glad I got to see Timmy win his last chip, the experience that year, that team, that ball
movement, will forever be my favorite spurs team of all time 2014 spurs, I’d put that team against any team today 🔥🔥🔥
I live in CT and I made sure to see Timmy in his last year when he came to Brooklyn. He didn’t play much, but when the nets Center scored 3 straight times, Timmy came back in and quickly shut him down. Amazing....
The San Antonio Spurs were the Chicago Bulls of the West.
I’m a avid fan of SPURS..I love the way they play with each other like Duncan,Ginobili and Parker
Jade Osias hell yea, I’ve always respected the spurs cause they have always had such great team chemistry and with a great coach like pop? That Duncan, ginobili parker squad was beyond legendary
All the spurs championships have been won with Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan won championships in 3 different decades
So did john salley
Been a fan since 1974! From George Gervin, David Robinson, Tim Duncan to now Victor Wembanyama! We are blessed as a city to have such great human beings!
Last was the most satisfying. That Heat team was so sure they were gonna get a 3peat. 😂😂😂
the heat should of been going for a 4 peat but bron wet the bed vs dallas...it took 86 playoff games for miamis big 2 of wade and bron to look beatable and 15 and a half series ....as until that point they were 59-26 together and technically they were 5-5 without bosh in the 2012 playoffs and bron cramped in game 1 of the 2014 finals missing a close 4th quarter that they lost without him...so when their big 3 finished together they were actually 54-20 up to that point as a trio....
I think 2003 was most satisfying
@@cwp4evayea that's a tough one they were both revenge tours
Manu was so good in those clutch free throws you need to close it out
For the past two DECADES Spurs is always one of the strongest team! That's insane. I think Spurs is the model team and TM is the model player, this is what a professional team and player should be.
The only NBA player to win a championship in THREE different decades:
TIM DUNCAN!!!!
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
man the new spurs sure is different
DeRozan and Aldridge will keep the playoff streak going for another good 5 years (as long as they don't get traded).
Yeah sure they are different, Timmy and Manu are retired, Tony is in Charlotte finishing his career. Coach Pop is still the captain of the ship, the culture built by him, R.C. and Admiral, TD, Manu&Tony is still in place. I find it naive to expect Spurs to miss the playoffs, to be plain 😉
No Daze Off Ent. It's definitely not as good as the spurs were in their prime. It will get them to the playoffs but that's it. Duncan, Ginobili and Parker spurs team was much better
2003 playoff TD was dominant you’ll never see that again
Gosh I remember all of them 😭 the feeling is priceless
Okay i feel you fr please see this video
It's about the spurs
ua-cam.com/video/sZzLCOtP0Jw/v-deo.html
This is why Steve Kerr is so successful
To learn from pop and Jackson top notch basketball school
Who agrees if Ginobli could have been 2005 finals mvp?
duncan could of won 07
Close but na. Duncan showed gritt against that nasty defense with both Wallace's doubling him he had 2 sprained ankles and planter faschitis. It's close but Duncan had to work twice as hard offensively and was easily the best defensive player.
I miss having tht big ass trophy in the middle of the floor
Ginobili hair evolution
The spurs are so lucky too have great players
Tim Duncan and the Spurs went up against so much great competition over the 3 different decades he technically won titles in. What a run
Timmy d 5 time champion
Christian Charles in my opinion he’s second to only MJ with his 6 titles
@@christopherzertuche1904 Timmy is a legend. Spurs are the model. I wish they had beaten the punk ass warriors in 2017 when the dirty paculia injured Kwahi on purpose. I'm glad my Cavs beat the warriors in 2016 and we would have in 2015 if Kyrie and Love weren't injured. Spurs would have defeated the warriors if Kwahi didn't get hurt.
Manu long hair short hair and no hair
Holy shit didn’t even realize how clutch manu was, literally hit the winning free throws in every final
Except his misses in the 2013 finals led to that ray Allen shot 😭 That shot and Derek Fisher's .4 shot haunts me to this day
If not for Derek Fisher’s shot in 2004 and Ginobili fouling Dirk in 2006 the spurs win 5 in a row
duncan was hurt in 2000 also.
Almost had 6 😭😭😭
I will always remember the Spurs as a teenager. Love the Big 3
Should Duncan say "I gave San Antonio its first 5 Championship And that makes me the Greatest Of All Time"?
Tim duncan was a legend
When I play nba2k19 blacktop he was on the legend's list
Ginobilli has something to say
@@HOGISIMJAYUNwhat?
As a young Jazz fan in the mid 90s, if you tell me that the Spurs would hold the ring count 5-0 over the Jazz in my lifetime I would've laughed you to the moon. Tim Duncan is a legit monster.
Bons Tempos que o Meu San Antonio Spurs Jogava com Vontade !
Na Vitória ou Na Derrota , Vamos ser Campeão Spurs Sempre !
Downtown SA with a cooler of beer on a championship win night with all the homies - it doesn’t get much better than that. 🍻 Thank you Spurs, thank you San Antonio!
My first finals I remember watching was the 07 finals when I was 6 and since going through the catalog of spurs finals full games I can truly say the Spurs from 1999-2014 might be the best basketball to ever exist everything they did was executed correctly and if it was ever off they corrected immediately, they were so fundamentally sound it’s unbelievable the warriors try to mimic the spurs a lot during their run and ofc they have Steve Kerr as a coach he knows the formula but this can’t be duplicated
Spurs were out for blood in 2014!
1999 2003 2005 2007 2013 2014 that's how it should be the haters will still say they never won back-to-back which is technically true but the Duncan Spurs where Championship contenders a lot longer than the Kobi Shaq Lakers and the Splash brother Warriors and every other team going all the way back to the nineties except for the Chicago Bulls of course
That’s because Shaq and Kobe didn’t get along.
People who blame Ginobili for their 2013 Finals collapse quickly forget how many clutch FTs he hit to ice the other 5 championships away 🏆
Nobody forgot but it's not like it matters. Sure he didn't come up big in game 6 he was ass that entire game. He was a high risk high reward player and had a solid career 4 rings and the hof
It's strange to see Tony Parker on the bench in 2003
otherguy246 parker was also benched in 2005 finals at the end.
tony had a 1-12 3 foul 2 turnover 3 point -20 finals game in 03 in new jersey no one talks about and its why they thought about trading him for j kidd in 2003....the lost that game by 1 and lost a 3-1 possible lead...its one of the ugliest games you will ever see a hall of famer have...he even missed a ft ...he had 3 assists but like oh boy what a bad night...
Duncan won his 1st ring a year after the Bulls dynasty ended, and he won his last ring a year before the Golden State dynasty started. It's kinda cool to think about.
1 thing I always loved about my San Antonio Spurs was the fact that we made sure everyone scored everyone played a major part and no one was above the next or nobody was a showboat and our system was sooo good that we really were beating really good even championship teams teams with our backups and not because our starting 5 was hurting but Coach Pop made sure they were rested and well prepared and focused and doing so made players like Matt Bonner Cory Joseph Patty Mills Boris Diaw Tiago Splitter Gary Neal and many others s chance to step up there game we were so confident about our system and team that we were criticized my the media & sports personnel for not going after players who were great players and very dominant but im glad I had the chance to be a witness such a great team because sad to say but we will never find players like TD Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker again
ginobili is such an underrated clutch ft shooter
Especially in 2013 😮
We really miss ginobili drive and slice...GSG!!I Bleed Silver and Black!
fun fact: the spurs have a winning record aganist every team in the nba(In the regular season)
Spurs all the way "oh hell yeah"
Its crazy how from 1999-2019 only 9 teams won rings Spurs (5) Lakers (5) GSW (3) Heat (3) Boston (1) Pistons (1) Dallas (1) Toronto (1) & Cavs (1)
Spurs *could* easily have 6 or more titles. As magnificent as they have been, it's been a few #playoffclunkers!!!
Que bárbaro Ginóbili siempre decisivo 💪🇦🇷
I feel like Tim Duncan could care less that he won. He never shows emotion !!
Fun fact rick mahorn who was like 40 that year was in the 1980 draft was still in the nba during the 99 season when the spurs first won the title with duncan...in 2014 a future mvp named giannis was the youngest player in the league when they won their last...he's now 29....insane to think about
The admiral goin out with 2 rings in style no50
Manu is clutch af
Growing up with these teams makes it hard with what we’re going through right now 😞
Wemby.
So true
San Antonio Spurs are best championship's
The spurs on the beginning went from terrible to amazing until the big 3 retired now we are back to terrible hopefully the spurs get back to where they were.
@8:01 lebron saying to danny green "see you in lakers in 2020"
Such a classy organization!
Yes I would like this played at my funeral on loop thank you.
Go Spurs go!!
Probably the last time they’ll be champs
He won a ring in 3 different decades
Forgot about what a beast manu was. Cold blooded
So nice to see lebron get beat twice by the spurs in the championship games
go spurs go! 🤩🤩
My fav team beautiful team basketball. And Defense. Not a lot of teams play like the spurs or have that spurs mentality. And they build teams off of picks that’s why I also like them
Duncin/robinson together = 🐐 🤯🤯
I wanna see the spurs win a championship again 😢
10 years went by quick!!
That 2014 championship was nothing more than redemption/revenge
Si este no fue el mejor equipo de la nba de los ultimos 20 años no se quien sera
I forgot Miami almost got swept Spurs were beast
Duncan, Ginobli, Parker, Robinson and Leonard.
POV: spurs finally win a trophy
5 times
The fact that from 1999 to the last Game Tim Duncan Played with my Spurs each year we won 50 games and never.missed The playoffs and won championships in 3 Different decades and TBH we should have more than 5 championship and would have
3peat because after the 2005 Championship we Lost to Dallas in Game 7 of the WCF (2006) the year Dwayne Wade won his first and the year after Beat Cleveland and swept LeBron
Detroit vs Sa Very tough
ginobilli and freethrow
I never knew lebron made it in 2007..
i somewhat like the spurs as a whole including duncan
Also not to mention they got a championship Rob from them by Miami when Ray Allen did the unbelievable step back three-parter my goodness that is one of the greatest shot in sports history or if not the greatest shot to me it was better than Michael Jordan push off Ray Allen man oh man
Manu on the line FTW
Well the SP21RS are the last team to of swept in the finals
Felix Medina 18 warriors
First ones to do it to the Cavs tobad they don't meet in NBA finals . The only team the GS met in the last 4 final what's the challenge in that ?NBA puppets
SP21Rs Rocky Golden State Tommy Gun of the NBA no real competition
With udoko and Brad Stevens are building something special , sorry but it is happening
I'm so sorry for james, he's my Idol
Td and pop won a chip in 3 decades
It's crazy because all in between them championship run the Lakers won every in between championship of the Spurs that is crazy and it's all done by Kobe and somewhat Shaq wow
fuck you mean somewhat shaq? he was the best player in 3 of those 5 lakers championships
Tom Tolbert was a good commentator, he should have Shaq’s job
damm, it took the spurs 5 attempts to score over a hundred in a titel deciding game :)
Tim Duncan’s iconic quadruple double idc what the stats were he got robbed
I was there 2014
Tim duncan 5 time champion
the mavs + spurs won their rings not facing legends like west bird johnson jabbar robertson chamberlain + russell
The 3rd one sounds like the nfl commentator
That would be al michaels of course.
