This is a clear concise and very helpful intro into using Ganttproject. It's lovely to hear a narrated tutorial instead of inane elevator music and a video that runs like excerpts from a manual displayed as a slide show. Thank you for this well thought out, excellently presented lesson.
Retired now and has been many years since I used Microsoft Project, (ugh) and Primavera (yeah). Gantt will work fine as I help a neighbor get his home renovation project back on track. You have the best software tutorial that I have ever used. Thank you very much (from Florida USA).
great explanation, I don't have any prior knowledge of project management or this software, but your video took me through a segment i had to compile for a group project. Great stuff!!!
Thanks! It looks like Gantt Project has been abandoned but check out the video on Gantter. It's current and web based plus has more features than Gantt Project.
No worries! You might want to check this out as it's newer, web based and more powerful. ua-cam.com/video/B8RVbEHHSlw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=BradDeveson
You might want to know there is a new version 2.8.10. Bug fixes link here: github.com/bardsoftware/ganttproject/issues?q=milestone%3A2.8.10+is%3Aclosed The big one for me was bug #1632 which made the font go tiny on the resources tab. Fixed now!

Can you explain just a little more about Sam's double booking that does not appear on the Gantt chart but on resources. am i supposed to look out for it in my charts, or is this just an example of what would happen should Sam be double booked?
Hi. You need to keep a regular eye on the Resources Chart for this, especially if you are moving tasks, timing and resources around as you normally would in a real project. The process would be (1) juggle project tasks etc after getting feedback from participants ("I've finished early" or "It's going to take another day" or whatever) then (2) review the Resouces Chart to make sure that no-one is overloaded, as well as if there are any idle resources that could be redeployed.
Also you might want to check out this new Project management software I've just reviewed. It's a bit more modern and also web based. ua-cam.com/video/B8RVbEHHSlw/v-deo.html
