Despite having endured a double masectomy, a stroke, and a broken hip, she put vanity aside and still willingly appeared in public to show that she was still alive and kicking, much to the delight of her adoring fans. Let's face it, Miss Crawford would've never done such a thing. Conversely, she went into hiding when her health started to fail, but not Bette.

Bette Davis considered her efforts on behalf of US servicemen during WW2 with the Hollywood Canteen the finest thing she ever did.
