    thank you for clarifying -- i'm sick of people saying she was drunk in these interviews post 1982... The fact that she was as quick as she was AFTER the stroke makes her brilliant!!

    This really shows what a tough, yet classy woman Bette was. Despite having endured a double masectomy, a stroke, and a broken hip, she put vanity aside and still willingly appeared in public to show that she was still alive and kicking, much to the delight of her adoring fans. Let's face it, Miss Crawford would've never done such a thing. Conversely, she went into hiding when her health started to fail, but not Bette.

      🤔 "Beyond the Forest" was terrible of a film. Her last at WB 1949. Bette is/was right. She was too old to play that part. Bette was 41, I think.The character is much younger in the book.Had yo be.It was very unbelievable.

      And the y absolutely didn't tell her what the vote was. They rarely will even admit how many members the academy even has. I don't get Crawford holding on to that Oscar bc she had one of her own she could have traveled with if that was her thing. Eh. Older people are supposed to be "colorful".

    Bette Davis considered her efforts on behalf of US servicemen during WW2 with the Hollywood Canteen the finest thing she ever did.

    • @MarthaMansbridge
      @MarthaMansbridge 4 роки тому

      She certainly did, and especially what she did to include black servicemen who would otherwise have been left out which she just saw as a decent thing to do but in retrospect made her a bit of a rebel and a pioneer 0 which of course, Bette was to her core.

    Never a truer word was spoken Miss Davis. She was robbed of the Baby Jane Oscar.🥴 Had she won for" whatever happened to Baby Jane" it would be by far one of the most valuable Oscars of the entire academy trophy history today. What a legend,a force and a talent she was.❤️ All hail Miss Betty Davis!! And that C can take a hike, lol.😲👉

    I love how Davis talks about her movies that she should have won for. 1939 was definitely Vivian Leigh’s year because of Gone With The Wind. I do believe she was robbed for All About Eve and What Ever Happened To Baby Jane. I think the fact that Anne Baxter was in the same category for Best Actress causes Davis to lose. I do believe Crawford was angry of not getting nominated that she did contact the other nominees. In many ways Davis was right but the story of Crawford not giving the Oscar to Bancroft for one year was over exaggerated. I love how brutally honest she told it like it was that’s why I love her

    • @TheRmjr
      @TheRmjr 3 роки тому

      I loved Bette Davis and most of her movies. I think she should have won for The Letter and Now Voyager. There are some scenes in The Letter that she did using only her eyes and that is a rarity. The Great Lie was a good one too!

  • @margolane8529
    @margolane8529 6 років тому +2

    I'm surprised she didn't mention Of Human Bondage. Claudette Colbert was great, but Bette's performance that year was far superior

    • @TheRmjr
      @TheRmjr 5 років тому

      margo day She has said that she got the Oscar for Dangerous, the next film after Bondage, as a consolation prize for not winning the previous year. I thought for sure she would have mentioned “The Letter” and/or “Now Voyager”. And William Wyler directed her in “The Letter”. Those were excellent performances.

    I happen to know for a fact Anne Bancroft was not doing “Mother Courage” a year after she won her Oscar. The play was a success But did it did not run for an entire year. They were 52 performances which is about 6 1/2 weeks. So and Bancroft was not playing mother courage a year after the Oscars.

  • @HollyCranfan

    Dark Victory, All About Eve , What ever Happened to Baby Jane. I agree she deserved the oscars for those movies. LMAO that Crawford kept Bankcroft's oscar for a year. Probably to rub it in Bette's face. WOW

      A complete fabrication. And Gloria Swanson was every bit as good or better in Sunset Boulevard, without all the clipped speech and cigarette nonsense and the list of other ticks that Davis used to convey acting but people seem to ignore.

    • @gauravw6947

    The more that I think about it, it really was cheap and petty what Joan did to Bette regarding Bette's nomination for Baby Jane. Joan was just sour grapes that she was not nominated. Everybody and their mother knows that Bette should've won that year.

    • @georgegallucci1845
      @georgegallucci1845 3 роки тому +3

      What did Joan do? Agree to accept for one of the others if they won? If anyone had sour grapes it was Davis. Bancroft was better. Period.

  • @MarthaMansbridge
    @MarthaMansbridge 4 роки тому +1

    Sharp as a tack and funny - shame Carson always looked like he was thinking about his next gag - why does he always look into the distance as if reading from a script - it's a very American talk show host kinda thing - they all do it? Bette was the sort of guest who you should have just left her alone on the stage and watch her fly.

    posting 100 times = obsessive & trying too hard
    especially when you're taking jabs at anything you possibly can, because you're not smart enough to figure out what i'm saying (so you attack anything that you're hoping might offend me, desperate to "get me" somehow).
    unfortunately, it's not working, but at least you tried. very hard.

    but you are just trolling, and it's a very shameful attempt at it! you're not going to offend anyone if you rant on like you belong in a mental asylum, you need much more practice (and to think that a year wasn't enough).
    so yeah, if you just come off as whiny/insane, no one will take you seriously. a lesson to learn! you're welcome.
