I`ve been a mineral collector for many years Chris. I prefer self collecting, but have a few purchased items too..... ⛏ Fun hobby and great video as always ! 👍👍
Hi Chris, thank you again. You continue to add videos in a mysterious way for me as each video you add directly corresponds to my prospecting and geology education. I stumbled upon a vein in mother lode country. With a fire and after the rains last year it is truly amazing. The foliage is growing back to hide my find, but what I’m getting at is what I brought back. I think I have found a chuck of quartz containg bonanza gold with extraordinary crystals. So thank you for your videos as I am virtually penniless with my home (truck) full of treasure. Looking forward to cashing in. I’ve got your book and consult it regularly.
Would love to learn some specimen display suggestions you might have. If you have any specimens on display in your home, perhaps share how you chose to do it, even if you have just a few specimens scattered about. When I moved to Utah, I became an avid rockhoarder.......err rockhounder. Obviously not everything is for display as it is true rough material but I have a quite a few awesome geodes from Dugway (some are completely different types of composition) as well as a perfectly intact sand dollar embedded in limestone thats covered in quartz druze that I'd love to put someplace special without worrying of dust and such. Thanks for the video! Loved the personal specimens you showed.
Hi Chris, I herd you mention you've done prospecting in alaska and I live in the anchorage area do you happen to have any tips or areas of interest I should check, I've tried to find books or groups to find information but I have had little luck, thank you and another awesome video ❤
weve got red beryl here in new mexico. ive always wanted to go beryl hunting as ive heard even small crystals weighing a few grams can fetch thousands of dollars uncut.
Chris, when I was a preteen my family traveled every summer across the US. And I would come home with rocks & small fossils from all over. I always wondered about mineral markets, but never really looked into it. But I'd be just as happy to find turquoise as to find gold, and fortunately both can be found in some areas. Maybe not in the same sample (although I'm sure it has happened) but in the same area. Soon as it cools down a little, I'll be out there.
I get quite a few people every day who want me to ID their rock and mineral photos. I do not offer a mineral ID service, mostly because it’s not as easy as you think. Usually, minerals cannot be identified from just a picture. Please watch my videos on how to Identify minerals for yourself. Part 1 can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/MpkW58ZeQlc/v-deo.html and Part 2 can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/zOWo49X90gA/v-deo.html and Part 3 can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/_ab5NngRlVw/v-deo.html - Those videos should answer a lot of your questions.
Hello Chris! So this video is the first of your videos I've seen. Ive subbed! You seem to have the knowledge I've been long in search of, i have found excellent quality Vesuvianite. I've been looking for the proper identification. I've brought them to rock/gem shows and my gf and i have come to the conclusion that people dont want to tell us the correct information. I have a bit of Vesuvianite in every color and in good quantity except purple. Is this something you can help me with? Heck id be willing to send you some for your knowledge! This stuff is in good enough quality to make jewelry from too. I have a UA-cam channel under my name and some videos i have show my rockhounding finds if your interested in seeing them. I hope to hear back!

Great video! I was just thinking about this to and it was a happy surprise to see the notification pop up lol! I do have a question, when making a placer claim are you restricted to certain dimensions like you are on a lode claim? I couldn't find anything on the BLM website

@@ChrisRalph i just wanted u to see it because it looks like a dinosaur head mouth full of crystals and they eye was starting to form crystals. It's just a very neat rock because of the shape of it.
I appreciate your interest, but I do not offer any services for personal training, consulting or advisement. I get many such requests and simply do not have time to help all who ask. I have many business and family commitments and simply don't have the time available. I do wish you the best of luck, but I am sorry that I cannot offer any help on that level.
Gems minerals o my. Sharing them oj whatnot a great opportunity for me. Glad to find this video.
Glad it was helpful!
gemstones are much more profitable than gold for sure... the hard part is finding a buyer. gold doesn't have that problem.
Very true - you need to find markets for crystals and gemstones.
@@ChrisRalph thanks for your dedication to reply to comments 👍

sounds like you are making some good finds.
Thank You Chris, Great Video!!
Glad you liked it!
I found a double terminated quartz crystal with a double ghost in it, it's only half inch long but looks fantastic.....👍👍
Very cool
Dang we need to go look for some Crystals !!!!!
Sounds good to me.
I dig crystals! This is great thank you Chris!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@ChrisRalph I truly did, and I think you nailed it. Marketing is a very difficult barrier to entry in regards to crystals!
Where did you find the aquamarine? Thanks for the video
Southern California

Display is a function of the space you have and your furniture situation. Its a situation where there are no "one size fits all" answers.
Well they can ask all they want but getting that much can be a lot harder.
Very true.

My Alaska adventures were all out in the interior, several were closer to Fairbanks. I've not done much close in to Anchorage.
I like looking for crystals and gold as well.
Yep. Glad you liked the video!

That is true if the red beryl is of high quality.

You are so welcome
I love the mineral specimen videos. I live in Montreal, are there any places to find gold close to my city?
I dont know how far you mean by close, but there is gold in eastern Canada. Do some searching on Google for more details.
I have collected some minerals from Bissbee mine in AZ can I send some pics to I.d

There are different ways of staking a placer claim. They do not have to be fixed dimensions but you are charged for 20 acres, so take that much.
@@ChrisRalph thanks! Again great video, your book was delivered today as well, so a pretty good day!
Thanks sweetie pie
You are welcome.

How to sale
Find a buyer in your country.
