The way Kidd adapted his game as he got older and further into his career is incredible. Going from a pretty poor outside shooter to a 3pt specialist is a testament to his versatility, love for the game, and willingness to do anything to help his team win. Easily one of the top 10 best PGs of all time.
Scorers get all the attention but I've always like Jason Kidd because he is the perfect example of what you can do to help your team win without scoring.
J Kidd will always be my favorite basketball player. I'm so happy he finally got that elusive championship ring he was wanting since carrying the Nets to two straight Finals appearances. He really deserved that ring
Looking back, I'm so happy Dallas got the chip that year over Lebron. Dirk and Kidd deserved their ring more than the Justice League deserved any of theirs.
Damn those 2011 memories, makes me cry! damn I miss that lineup... that year, its really the Dallas Mavericks' year!!! the greatest lineup Dallas Mavericks ever had!
5:47 made me speechless, you see that eye contact??! Yao Ming has failed to anticipated that sick alley. J-Kidd should have been an MVP on 2002/2003 when he still with the Nets back then
irepJamGoonz Nash is the greatest shooter in NBA history (statically speaking) as well as third all time in assists. Both have their own merits for who is better.
Deserves a ring no less...Could not bring my Nets a ring but he took that team to heights never imagined with two shots at the NBA Finals...Gotta love him...Hope he does well at the Bucks...
The best combo of finesse and efficiency of all times, Mr. Jason Kidd. He dragged a so so team, with not outside shooters to the finals TWICE, he was that great This i why some idiots just bring the rings card when comparing genius like Kidd or Nash, i do know Kidd had one with the mavericks, but, he in my eyes was just amazing to watch.
j williams was inconsistent had done alot of bad decisions especially in the early years. also wasnt as good as shooter. but damn, j will was nice to watch in that sacramento team with c webb and vlade divac
Even in his bum days late in his career he led the Knicks to 50 wins. I’m telling you he’s the reason we got that far. Along with other vets and prime Melo. But this dudes impact is insane.
I didn't follow much of the NBA while he was an active player, but I see his brilliance in coaching the Bucks this season. Took them from last place to the playoffs in one season. And that in just his second year coaching. I'm very excited about what he will do with the young Bucks. Next season will be a joy to watch.
I had the privilege of watching this guy since he was 16 years old when he was playing the Pro-Am at Kezar in San Francisco. I was a sophomore at Cal when people started talking about how Kidd maybe coming to Berkeley, but felt it was a long shot with big time programs like Arizona and Kansas recruiting him. When he announced that he'll be attending Cal, everyone went nuts. It was a week long party. The guy made Lamond Murray a lottery pick. If Jason Kidd isn't a first ballot hall of fame, I'll be upset.
I'm so glad they won the title 2011. Two my favorite players Nowitzki and Kidd. They really earned it after coming short so many times in the playoffs against dominating teams like Lakers and Spurs.
Anyone else catch the individual whom jason kidd shook hands with at the beginning... grant hill !!! Came into the league together and retired together !!! Still a better love story then twilight lollll !!! To bad grant didn't get the ring though
Excellent vision on the court, there'd be times you'd swear he had eyes in the back of his head. Dominated Jammal Tinsley against the Pacers one year in the playoffs. Looked over to Larry Bird on the sideline when he was coaching and said, I got this guy in my pocket. Ugliest shot you would ever see, but it went in consistently.
Similar to Pippen in some regards, Kidd is underrated as hell. Damn fine elite player who got overlooked. For me, he is more complete than Stockton, has a championship, some crazy stats and lead a averageteam with one of the worst coaches of all times to the finals TWICE. The guy is incredible, only Magic and Oscar could be considered better PG than him. And some people even dare to compare him with Nash, lol
im tired of that comparison too. haha. some noob fans always pick nash over kidd. when the retired greats like barkley or reggie or isiah always picks kidd over nash. kidd my favorite player is really so underrated.
Its funny to consider Nash a better shooter if Kidd actually holds a record regarding 3pt fg made. Nash is indeed the better shooter, but Kidd had the longevity and consistency. Nash had those amazing years in Phoenix, but you can consider his prime as only 4, maybe 5 seasons. That is not enough. Take Chris Paul for example: the guy is the best PG in the league since his sophomore year, it's absurd how consistent he is in the golden era of the position. Nash didn't had this kind of consistency, far from it. Great PG, I love his tenacity and dedication, but Nash is not elite as some people think.
One beautiful circle closed when Kidd got his championship ring and raised the trophy up as a Dallas Maverick! Coming back to his original team and winning that trophy there...That's one heck of a beautiful story! Jason Kidd sure was a magician and a basketball genius as a player, his game and stats show that. Now he is continueing that work as a coach. We shall see if he also becomes a champion as a coach. I certainly hope so!
If Jason Kidd would have worked on his shooting, he had the potential to go down as the greatest PG ever. This guy was a fantastic leader. Made all his teammates better. Everyone wanted to play with him.
Quite possibly one of the best 3 passers to have played, along with John Stockton and Magic Johnson. EDIT: You don't have to be flashy to be a great passer. However, you DO need to have impeccable timing.
***** So because Nash got 200 more assist than Magic, he's better? You're right in one case, numbers don't lie. Steve Nash played 18 seasons to Magic's 13 (1 season was 32 games, and that was after 4 years of retirement). He played 5 more years, and racked up only 200 more assists. At least do some research before making outlandish claims.
I'm a Magic/Laker fan. I've got a 15 min Magic compilation with 1.4 mill views that people seem to like, so you can infer from that that I love my 1s with supreme passing games. Kidd was the ONLY PG since Magic that I would say was on the same echelon in terms of instinct, intuition, court vision, touch/finesse on passes, ability to convert fast breaks, ability to find openings in bogged down half court sets, and snap decision making brilliance that allowed him to create a 2nd play if the 1st play didn't work. I still think Bird and Magic are the two closest approximates to each other, as convenient as that may be, but, Kidd is the only 1 who gave me flashbacks to Earv. Brilliant mind above all else. To pass like that you kinda need to be a hoops genius in the first place, but he was one.
Simply amazing!! I remember looking at Jason on the front cover of Sports Illustrated. In the magazine he was laying on his bed covered by offer letters. Then I saw his very first game in college which was in Cal State Sacramento gym. Wow! How the years fly.
He fought so much while he was in NJN..... but I was really relieved to see him get that ring.... with Peja too.. two guys with NBA Championship dreams decimated by the Shaq and Kobe's L.A... ^_^
As a nets fan. For a dude who wasn’t a shooter or scorer. Dude was so clutch. It’s funny. The nets in the early 2000s had no go to scorer. But Kidd knew he had to make something happen in the last 2 mins. Dude had no fear on both ends.
At Dallas and Pheonix, he was a good individual player. At New Jersey, Dallas, and especially the Knicks he was a good Leader (look at the Knicks' season in 2014 without him).
Might have been even better if he didn't have to have micro-fracture surgery on his knee in 98. He was one of the first players along with Chris Webber to make a successful return from that kind of injury, but it had to have taken some of his athleticism away when he came back. Even so he was one of the greatest point guards to ever play.
Started his career with the Mavs, came back to the Mavs and won a ring and now coached us to the finals (in defeat but still). He's become a Dallas legend like Dirk.
What a luxury to have VC, Jefferson and Kmart to log too.. I miss watching him, was so good and a genius on the floor, reminds me of Chris Paul today, bigger guard with great vision and leadership
If my son starts to love basketball like I do. I'd show him videos of Magic Johnson, Isaiah Thomas, Steve Nash, Gary Payton, John Stockton, Jason Williams and Jason Kidd. So he'd learn to play like them. (Yes my son will be a point guard cos he's not that tall.)
uh I played the guard position, shot 50% from the floor without easy layups and dunks, 90+% ft, and I'm only 6ft. my dad can't play at all and had nothing to do with my basketball prowess
(Slow clap..) Impressive.. very impressive. Then get yourself drafted. Oh wait!? You must be playing hoops in PS3? Ah.. I see.. oh well.. still u have superstar stats (sarcasm.) PS: I don't give a fuck about ur game. Cos ur not even drafted. Or even just in D-League.. SUPERSTAR!!
just got to watch the bucks play tonight on the flr vs phx. just looking at kidd you can see how focused and sincere he is about the game. im glad hes my hometown teams coach they just need a few more "ingredients" and they will be straight.
Him and Stockton cement themselves as the greatest Guards of all time, unselfish, repossessive, skilled when needed to be, and just wizards of reading the court and knowing when and where to be and where to put the ball.
Well watching open court and they picked their teams from the 90's and 00's. Shaq chose AI Reggie chose AI D. Scott, Grant Hill and Isiah took Kidd for the 00s Shaq chose GP Barry chose Stockton (came down to him or GP) but if you don't think Magic and Isiah would be selected over Kidd if they played during the same era.
i used to hate him, but i have to admit he was amazing player. The way he played the games were so simple only pass and run like the old nba, he didn't have a good crossover like iverson but he could make flashy passes to all direction, he couldn't shoot like curry, he couldn't dunk like westbrook. he's just a simple basketball player with amazing talent. He's a good example to all people that wants to learn about basketball.
The way Kidd adapted his game as he got older and further into his career is incredible. Going from a pretty poor outside shooter to a 3pt specialist is a testament to his versatility, love for the game, and willingness to do anything to help his team win. Easily one of the top 10 best PGs of all time.
Kidd's one of the Legends.
Word!
he was a star + on 04-27-97 his suns lost 122-78 to the sonics + he had just 2 points to go with 8 assists
Scorers get all the attention but I've always like Jason Kidd because he is the perfect example of what you can do to help your team win without scoring.
Great way to describe how you can be the greatest without scoring.
rod man is the best example
A true point guard.
Almost like John Stockton?
Steve Nash is also another example as well!
J Kidd will always be my favorite basketball player. I'm so happy he finally got that elusive championship ring he was wanting since carrying the Nets to two straight Finals appearances. He really deserved that ring
Legend! A fabulous player and one of the best guards that ever played the game. Hats off Mr. Kidd 🙏🏻
My favorite point guard of all time!!
+Booda Davis D rose is best pg

Mine too. As a piston fan NJ jkidd was my favorite player

Now we got the Avengers fucking everybody up

i somewhat like kidd + the mavs but they won it all not facing legends like wilt chamberlain + bill russell
Ngl they didn’t deserve that ring over LBJ but they outplayed them and got it which made them deserving of it.
Damn those 2011 memories, makes me cry! damn I miss that lineup... that year, its really the Dallas Mavericks' year!!! the greatest lineup Dallas Mavericks ever had!
+PunkSkaful ye, still can't believe Cuban blew that line up, didn't even give it a chance to defend the title.
Yes it's a shame he went the moneyball route. Wins once after many years, believes in it enough to blow up the team.
Check what they are gonna do this year.
Kidd and Hill hugging. Both so rare talents. But one remained healthy whilest the other was ruined by injuries. Both were my heroes.
MyYTwatcher and both go into the *HOF* together
Instant improvement to any team he is added to. He makes everyone around him better. Just look at his international record for proof.
5:47 made me speechless, you see that eye contact??! Yao Ming has failed to anticipated that sick alley.
J-Kidd should have been an MVP on 2002/2003 when he still with the Nets back then
I love LeBron, but I'm fucking glad that Kidd has his ring.
Effe Lebron can arguably be considered the best passer of all time over Kidd
Effe the fuck LeBron got to do wit this
Captain stop

Pure art, my favorite pg of all time.
In an era where point guards know how to pass :). Jason Kidd was among the TOPCLASS
For me, he will always be THE BEST PG. Period! Incredible assists, great defense!
All-time leaders (regular season) 20-12-2014

Some players were capable of seeing into the Matrix. Kidd was one of them!
Simply The Best Point Guard of his Era.
Guess you haven't heard of Jason Williams
molach12345 Guess again.
Jason Williams was flashier. Doesn't make him a better point guard though.
j williams was inconsistent had done alot of bad decisions especially in the early years. also wasnt as good as shooter.

Magic, Kidd, and J-Will are point guard geniuses.
Those are PGs whose moves you can never ever guess.

he still be my fav point guard. n i think nobody can replace him
Albertus Alves Stephen Curry is better

sam o yes im dumb, but u r dumbest
Albertus Alves wait till your Curry moves to Nets or Sixers and brings them to the final before compare him with Kidd.
He retired with a ring too bad his Jersey was hang on Nets not in Dallas, we miss you JKidd! LEGEND!
it's like watching Bruce Willis playing hoops..

Kidd's a legend!!!

2011 Mavs team was magical. Kidd truly deserved that title.
As a nets fan. For a dude who wasn’t a shooter or scorer. Dude was so clutch. It’s funny. The nets in the early 2000s had no go to scorer. But Kidd knew he had to make something happen in the last 2 mins. Dude had no fear on both ends.

Jason kidd made passing looked cool, nuff said
The greatest point-guard I've ever seen.
Solid passing. An artist.

I am happy that Kidd got a ring. Thanks for the contribution champ. HOF
Jason Kidd was a definition of a great true point guard. Fun to watch
Always my favorite PG of all time. So happy for him when he got the ring

my absolute favorite. well magic and him

He will never get old.
The Legend "The Kidd" epic soundtrack! A blessing to watch him play and happy he ended his career with a NBA Championship.
I love watching Kidd
What a luxury to have VC, Jefferson and Kmart to log too.. I miss watching him, was so good and a genius on the floor, reminds me of Chris Paul today, bigger guard with great vision and leadership
My true basketball hero back then.
If my son starts to love basketball like I do. I'd show him videos of Magic Johnson, Isaiah Thomas, Steve Nash, Gary Payton, John Stockton, Jason Williams and Jason Kidd. So he'd learn to play like them. (Yes my son will be a point guard cos he's not that tall.)
ur son will be riding the pine, cuz he's not that tall and has an idiot for a teacher
uh I played the guard position, shot 50% from the floor without easy layups and dunks, 90+% ft, and I'm only 6ft. my dad can't play at all and had nothing to do with my basketball prowess

Jason thanks for all the hard work you put into the BUCKS! stay strong
Jason Kidd took passing the ball to another level. Kidd was easily getting 8 to 10 assists , almost every game
That inbound was amazing
just got to watch the bucks play tonight on the flr vs phx. just looking at kidd you can see how focused and sincere he is about the game. im glad hes my hometown teams coach they just need a few more "ingredients" and they will be straight.
Here it is 2024 and I am watching this man I cam bet he was fun to play with just think of seeing him and ai in the back court together. Just thinking
Man he always looked old af but def a great point guard in his time
Russell 21 😂
reSeeing this video... Just an incredible job

yeah i agree
