My gran went through assisted dying last October. She lived out in Canada, where it's legal. She had aphasia and would have lost ALL faculties and the ability to write and talk. She wanted a dignified death and that's what she got. 14 of us around her bed side and the doctor was absolutely amazing. I support this 100%!!! It was so beautiful, so quick and so painless. Such a brave decision.
I was born into some VERY dire circumstances including a disability, so since childhood my experiences adversely affected my development, and prospects as an adult, and not just because of my disability. By age 33 I reached a point where all hope for a reasonably good life vanished leaving me with no future and just a banal existence; since then I have been suffering from severe depression. Are there any clinics that would accept me considering that I am not terminally ill?
We have medical assistance in dying legally here in Canada and it is a well managed, well thought out process with so much dignity. As someone with a life limiting illness, I certainly want that choice.
My niece in law is Canadian and earlier in the year both her parents chose to have medical assistance in dying on the same day together. The had both lost partners earlier in their lives and did not want to go through that mourning loss again. One parent had an inoperable heart problem and the other had a brain tumour and chose to leave this world together.
Me too, one put down start of the year, second a few weeks ago couldn't get to a vet being a weekend had a prolonged death at home, thankfully had pain relievers at least, but the one put down was easier knowing the suffering was quickly ended and he was in terrible pain, i miss them terribly and was just as much as mess as loosing family members with both but not allowing one to suffer is the kindest thing you do be it pet or family, people are so selfish
@@Niki-mp8qe 100%. It should be a law already. If there’s no hope of recovery, medically speaking, why would any health care professional NOT want to do all they can to end things swiftly and humanely. No one in palliative cafe is pain free. And the quality of a terminally ill persons life in those last few weeks and days is pretty much zero. It’s a kind of torture to make them go through that when there’s a kind way to make it stop.
@@PaladinesAngel exactly, and the thing with palliative care people may suffer long before its applied due to problems with getting appointments to get the ball rolling and then having available places in hospices, this country is a absolute joke now 😢
we have it in Canada and 100 percent believe in it !!..having a loved one go through it is a far nicer death then watching some one struggle to live out there days to a horrible death ..having seen it both ways the MAID (medical assistance in dying ) is far more dignified
They continually brought up how it makes family members feel which is obv valid.... but I personally would be doing it for myself. Not because I'd be a burden on my family if I was dying but because I wouldn't want to suffer at the end. I'd rather go peacefully.
How is it we can put pets down when they are too sick because we don’t want them to suffer until the illness takes their lives. But for humans it’s not okay? So long as the person is of sound mind to make the decision, I don’t see why not? I wouldn’t want to suffer for months or even years
My wife died in great pain all the people who don't want the choice of assisted death have never seen how much pain for the person and people who have to carry on after my body my choice not a government's
its not all about putting burden on your family and people dont always get full pain relief and still suffer it can be for selfish reasons too for instance motor neurone disease is horrendous and a terrible way to live in the end i wouldnt want to live like that.
I would say though if it is something you want it should be in your medical records or something. Kind of like a DNR. Because if they allow partners to make that decision, then every evil person who thinks of killing their wives or husband either for life insurance or to be with their mistress/lover would use it in a heartbeat. (Seen way too many cases in true crime!)😅
I would support 100%. These clinics should be part of every hospital by now
Completely agree

100% this should be available everywhere

Jane, what are you saying. I have been more upset over my pets dying than some family members!

I totally agree with you on that!
It’s still not comparative.
I would support all the day. Life equals quality of life.

Who on earth thinks we should die, struggling in agony; obviously someone who’s never witnessed the death of a loved one

❤Agree with Esther
Personally I would want to do it, but I’m sure it’s very hard to decide

Your body knows when the game is over? You really don't need to buy your death. ?????
You have obviously not seen a lover one did in agony
Myleene can’t stop talking Yikes.
I do sympathize. But its still awful. 😢
As a Christian, I believe that the choice is given to us.
