This is just so good to hear the nitty gritty straight from the man himself. Have always known that Doug was a super sweet guy. Just a diamond of a person. And so humble, despite being blessed with the greatest voice that Oz rock has ever had.
big man big voice big soul thanks dougie //this interview from wendy is one for the aussie rock archives // wendy loved your performence me thinks at princess theatre melb of dusty springfield // i was one of thoughs roadies criss crossing all over melb and syd // singing with the angels now big fella rip // love to all from grizzly
Thankyou so much to this hostess, Doug was the star ! So sad he has gone, saw him first opening tommy, melb Myer music bowl, loved his strong voice forever, long time ! I always thought he sounded like a Pom?
Thank you! Loved the late Doug Parkinson from the get-go. He was an Australian super talent. Lucky to have lived in the same era. Seen him perform, heard his voice in reality, and even met his lovely wife Suzie in the “green room” when Doug was performing on the same television show as another dear friend of mine. He mentioned the late talented Duncan McGuire (from 9:25) a few times. I was born next door to the talented McGuire family who played multiple musical instruments so Duncan was an excellent musician when he and Doug performed first together. I was fortunate to meet some great Australian talents over the years.
What a lovely lovely man. Wendy is such a lady and gets such a family story out of Doug. "Millers Manly Vale" what a memory not only for me but all my mates from that time. Just a wonderful journey through my early years.
This is the best interview I’ve ever seen Doug give. Fantastic. Wendy is such a great interviewer. You have left a wonderful legacy with this series Anita and all. Cheers
So sad to hear about the Passing of this lovely musician. Thank you for the wonderful memories my friend of our national tour together in about 1983, promoting your album Heartbeat to Heartbeat. I enjoyed the tour and being on and off stage and travelling everywhere with you. God bless Doug. Neville Nepia ( vocals and percussion )
We saw Doug and the band promoting this album at a dinner show in Parramatta. Still have the album. My daughter was 8 years old and has been a fan ever since. We continued to see Doug whenever he was doing a show in the Sydney region. The last one we saw was at the Hydro Majestic in the Blue Mountains and we were looking forward to seeing him again in the new show he was putting together but alas it was not meant to be. A lovely man who always took the time to talk to us before or after the show. We miss you. x x x
Sounds like “In Focus” breakup thanks to their manager’s financial mismanagement scuttled Parkinson’s career. My world 🌎 - the illusion - is disintegrating.
RIP Doug Parkinson.......... Thankyou so much for your great songs over many years.
Rip : Doug Parkinson (30 October 1946 - 15 March 2021)
I used to watch Doug on Countdown as a young boy. Fast forward 40 or so years I played drums behind him on a few shows. A career highlight for me.
