This really hits home since my Mom was just diagnosed with invasive Breast Cancer!
The beginning of this video is quite amazing. Watson simply trouncing the best human players in Jeopardy, Ken Jennings n Brad Rutter.
7 years now. Still no cancer cure.
Very interesting break through!
Let's make healthcare more smarter - I like this development
Computers naturally destroy us in what we as a society already know. But computers struggle at the moment at finding new information.
Physicians will never be outsourced. Or at least not until they can make computers with consciences and judgement abilities. When it comes to care you will always need an expert in the field to review the options provided by the computer and make the judgement call with the patient. It just means that the combination of computer processing power and human judgement can improve treatment options and thus the care of the patient. For example, an oncologist might choose treatment plan 2 (at 45% confidence) because he/she isn't aware of the new gene mutation. The power of Watson now allows the oncologist who hasn't yet read the latest research on x gene mutation to become instantly aware of it. Do their further research and discuss the option for treatment with the patient. Improving the quality of care.
That is a novel application of Watson. I do think the title of this video is a little misleading though
Wat about irobot
Computers will always process information faster and find more advanced ways to answer questions.
Computers however do not become self-aware and try killing John Conner by traveling through time to preserve their life and interests.
its 2019. watson is failing to beat cancer apparently. it was just media hype. jeopardy and cancer are very different things indeed
2021 now. Still nothing.
Yet we are granted these machines unlimited access to information and processing power. We have to be careful to keep up or at least embed a human control mechanism to subdue this technology in the event of the worst case scenario.
Wow
No more med school
are you saying all human doctors are always 100% accurate in their diagnosis? doctors are amazing and smart but they can't have all the answers, and even google isn't very helpful for such a task, but Watson can give an answer that the doctor can use his reasoning to test, this means higher accuracy in general even if watson is wrong from time to time, the doctor might notice the "wildly stupidly wrong" diagnosis
Big Pharma doesn't want you to know about CBD Oil and what it does to cancer......Google or UA-cam it right here.
hey Doc, make me a sammige!
now doctors are being outsourced..
jamaulbrown yep
This may kill doctor's job somehow
Frank Silval it will. it is already happing.
All hype for now.
How important is this? It should be getting the press Trump is getting. Scale it, like it was WW2.
Is this because of Gene Watson and his cancer?
