One of the best movies made. But you have to KNOW your movie industry timeline history for the last 15 mins for it to be rib splitting FUNNY. "Dang near last a $5 hand cart!" Love it!
Keep in mind, it was made in the 1970's. In the time of Sanford and son, The Jefferson's and All in the Family. There was No such thing as being politically correct. Mel Brooks had Richard Pryor read the script before he did the movie. A movie which could NOT be made today. Having said all of that, it is one of my favorites.
It's a look into the lives of those who lived before us. Unable to be who they truly are because of dehumanizing persecution, it shows how it affects everyone around you to not be who you truly are. Forced by society to marry someone you don't fully and truly love, live a life that doesn't make you happy, and if you choose to be who you are, the sentence is death and society didn't care. It shows a little boys father killing gay men in front of his sons, teaching hatred. And you gotta wonder, did he know his son was gay when he did that? You know the boy wondered that his entire life. So, how far have we come? Are we accepting of all? Do we judge, hate, persecute? What do we do to make the world better? If you listen and look, it teaches a lot. But if you don't seek wisdom, you'll never recognize it.
Most beautiful moment in Hollywood history was when Heath Ledger shut everyone the fuck up when they all thought he'd be a horrible Joker because of the roles he played(Not his acting ability), and now he has shown himself to be one of the best actors that has ever existed.
I love that even though you seemed a little shocked ay first😵, you kept an open mind!😊👍p.s yes they were acting! Gay people have been forced to act straight for so long, so why couldn't straight people act gay?
Google says that they don’t manipulate their search results yet somehow Brokeback Mountain came up as a “best western movie “ when very few people would recommend it. 🤔

I haven't even seen the movie...but I've now heard of it. It sounds like the movie broke your expectations of a western. I was laughing so much through your commentary.
I am a straight man. I did not go see this movie because I have gay tendencies or I felt the need to shock myself with visuals and story lines that violate my senses. I went to see this movie because I had seven gay men on my work crew, and they were, and still are, very close friends. I went with them, and five straight male friends and they brought their girlfriends or wives. 18 of us walked into that theater together, giddy, excited, poking fun at each other making the typical gay jokes. 18 of us walked out of that theatre transformed. For the gay guys, this movie was pure and simple validation, for the women, it was life altering, but for the straight guys, all I can say is that 17 years later, it's one of the most powerful films we have ever seen or ever been made. No one in that theater walked out those doors with dry eyes and unscathed. It's a case study in filmmaking on how to make a true Masterpiece. This is a phenomenal film that constantly subverts your expectations and takes you on a journey you could never have planned for, and as a result, could never get to the destination. The color pallets used in each scene is brilliant. You don't just get to see it, you experience the locations as the characters do. The music is kept to a minimum so as the viewer, your left in the same vast emptiness of the scene and you feel the same loneliness or tension the other characters feel. It really is that well crafted. The story is a super tragedy and man it hurts. This movie was a quiet and graceful invitation for heterosexual people to experience life as the LGBTQ community did at that time in history. You get to walk in their shoes, while still being forced to stay in your own. If ever there was a film that deserves the full attention of a society, this is that film.
@@eavening4149 no problem man. If you decide to see it, have some tissues ready. The jist of it, is all about prejudice. Just like How To Train Your Dragon was all about prejudice. It's got some heavy firepower in it.
This is hilarious. I loved the movie and every other video on here was about how much it made the viewer cry. I cried...a lot. But it was so heavy so this was some nice comic relief. Btw, they did actual punch each other. So i don't know if that counts as fighting.
Just watch OPEN RANGE. It has the good against bad thing your looking for it's about a cattle drive. .Kevin Costner's pretty kickass cowboy in it. Well it's one of the best Western movies ever made.
I’m sitting watching this western movie with my father-in-law one morning and I’d never seen it but something told me THIS was it. So right before the tent , I said Uuhh Mr Scarboro you should change the channel he said why? I said trust me. Well he didn’t change it...at first. Had the strangest look on his face but he changed it quickly then. I got up laughing then he started laughing.
HahHaha!!!! My mom their in law took me to see this! I was mortified when they got in the tent. Sex is not something we discussed. We never spoke about it again. Just Like in the mountain, this never happened!!
Lol you crack me up! Try the Quick and the Dead, the man who shot liberty vallance, once upon a time in the West, magnificent 7 (the old one and the new one), 8 seconds (not a real Western but the rodeo trail), lonesome Dove, open range, the cowboys, and All the Pretty Horses (this is one of my favorite movies ever!)
Lonesome Dove is long, but it won’t disappoint!! Great mini series! Got some great scenes. Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall. Wasn’t as impressed with return to LD.
When you got 8 hours (spread it out over a few nights) watch Lonesome Dove. It was a television mini series, from the novel by Larry McMurtry, who was the scriptwriter for Brokeback, but trust me, no "riding"... Robert Duval, Tommy Lee Jones, Diane Lane, Angelica Huston, the late Robert Urich, and Danny Glover, and scads of others...
No gunfights, but definitely a few cockfights...
Nicholas Totoro you wild 😂😂😂

The "Hateful 8" w/ Samuel L. Jackson is a helluva western...its like a dark....almost anti-western spoof of the Magnificent 7. Both good movies.
