If the EB55 was expandable, I might have considered getting one.
Brilliant unit, loving ours so far 👌🏼
Decent. Given the price of bills at the moment, this would pay for itself pretty quickly, especially if you charged it by solar. I hear they fully charge pretty quickly using solar too, so pretty handy for here in Spain where there's plenty of Sun. Cheers Ben, ATB mate.
Yeah not a bad idea if you can keep it topped up via solar. You could easy run your TV for the evening, plus lights etc. and save some money. Cheers Martin 👍
Nice looking unit mate. On the long term test can you see if it will charge below zero. Lithium doesn't charge below zero and for us winter camping folks it would be good to know
Aye I'll test it out Steve, I could've tested it out with the solar panel over the last week during the big chill but I haven't had the time. It's about 15 degrees now so I'll have to wait, but I did notice that the unit lost power quickly whilst I was using it over night in the woods with the temperature at about -5.
Hi Ben - thanks for that. I will be interested to know how that unit performs over the next 6 months and if you are still happy with it then.
I purchased something similar about a year ago. It's an Allp*****s, the one that was being reviewed and pushed really hard about 18 months ago.
The 1st 1 arrived DOA and the 2nd 1 came with a casback but to be honest it's not up to much really and I am pretty disappointed. It discharges itself when not in use, so you have to charge it constantly.
Anyways thats my twopenneth worth on "power stations" - strange name really when you think that they don't generate power.
ATB mate.
Hi Paul, I think the discharging problem is fairly common. I've found reviews on line of people having trouble with all of the major brands, probably something to do with poor quality control. It's a lot of money wasted if you end up with a dud battery. They are much more practical than messing around with leisure batteries though. ATB mate 👍
To be honest, I don't really like the EB55 because it charges quite slow compared to other power stations.
I have the EB70 and it has been a real workhorse for our travels and has proven very reliable so far. They are heavy but compact and pack very well with the folding handle.
Glad to hear it's standing up to some use, I'll be using this at least a couple of times a week so hopefully it will be as reliable.
Looks useful kit.
