    God I wish Jam and Lewis pushed her like this vocally. Stunning….

    • @OctoberLibra1
      @OctoberLibra1 2 роки тому +7

      They were trying to get her cross over appeal back then which is one of the reasons they didn't push her vocally in that aspect. Another reason too was, preservation of her voice. Diana Ross mentioned this that she didn't for e big notes because over time it could ruin the vocal cords. Patti faces this now. Janet has very beautiful vocals that ranges from soprano to alto, tenor and bass. He octaves are phenomenal... Not to mention her doing her own back ground vocals which are beautiful in itself.

      @@OctoberLibra1 Um, Patti still sounds the same, and she can still hit them high notes at 80 years old. Don't come for Patti.

      @@OctoberLibra1The Patti comment was inaccurate and unnecessary. Patti is still singing on stages all over the world and is still very much a capable vocalist.

    First time hearing this. I agree with some of the other posts. Janet is so highly underrated overall. Her vocals are always slept on. On this song the vocals are outstanding when she really sings out in full voice she can't be topped! I would love to hear Janet sing in full voice more in the future. Such a beautiful voice, my idol and a true legend. I love me some Janet Jackson😘

    Without knowing any of the credited writers , producers , or arrangers on this track, I can bet everything I own this was one of the songs done by Rich Harrison that was scrapped. My guess would be because she sounded too much like his main artist at the time. Amerie. Google Janet " Pops Up" and you would really know what I'm saying. They would have dragged her through the mud artistically had she released those songs. Legends do not copy new singers. New singers copy Legends.

    Janet is my favourite of all the Jaksons and I love many of her tracks, On & On, All 4 U, & That's The Way Love Goes etc, but I think the violin stabs absolutely ruined what is otherwise a great track, and it does not do the vocals any justice, and I can see why they did not release it, just listen to Missy Elliots-All In My Grill and maybe you may agree that the violin is used to better effect than in this track as it appears to be there for there's sake. Maybe a subtle remix would do the trick

    Janet Jackson is one of the best female entertainers if not the greatest female entertainer of all time. But her vocals are not. She's not underrated at all as a singer. She's not that singer that's that good but just good enough to make music. Honestly as a singer she barely made it. And her acting is terrible. But her dancing, her on stage performances are amazing and fun to watch.

      Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, it is evident that Janet's presentation has sold over 160 million records. And she is the 7th most successful artist of all time. Singing is not about who hits the highest note or does continuous runs. Janet does lack range, but she has one of the most recognizable emotive tones in the business. Artist like Sade and Diana Ross do not have a massive range, but their ability to make you feel what their singing is what makes them so marketable. So, I think the masses approve of her overall. Nonetheless, we all have an opinion. Some people like vanilla ice cream and some like butter pecan.
