I watched Thani Oruvan today. Such an awesome movie it is. I've not seen much commercial movies this interesting. As you said, we could see the maturity in the script and story. Hat's off! i decided to watch the movie after your review. wow, i'm amazed at how good the movie is. Both the good guys are smart, sexy and suave. It's a rare combination. One of the truly good Tamil movies I've seen in decades.

Good review Almost perfect review from a Tamil audience perspective .. But the room you mentioned which has web connecting various news is copied from a Hollywood movie .. Haven't you watched Sherlock Holmes game of shadows ..where you will find it pls watch it Director copied from it ..
I agree that such movies need to be supported instead of the brain-dead stuff that we mostly see in theatres. I think the review was little too positive rather than taking neutral stand. I personally felt that the first half was brilliant and the interval arrived with a BIG BANG. However, the second half for me just went downhill with just one plot point (the bug placed in Ravi's body) being stretched all the way, losing focus of the main plot of generics etc. Also, dream song in a thriller, that too with lip sync! Strict no-no for a thriller! Things started looking very filmy and convenient (SD Card inside a bamboo stick, replacing brown folder with another one of the exact size and shape, etc.) This took away from the enjoyment that I experienced in the first half and after a point I didn't care about what was happening on the screen. The story should have had some more aces up its sleeve but didn't. BGM was awesome, cinematography was great, editing was good (except last 30 minutes), Jayam Ravi was awesome. Arvind Swamy was good eye-candy but didn't come across as terrifying, because the character didn't have much depth or backstory. The climax didn't make much sense because I don't think Arvind Swamy's character/attitude was so timid that he would be ready to give up his life. He was shown to be a fighter, thinker and not someone who gives up easily.Some movies have a great first half (like this one), some have great second halfs (like Ko), and some have sustained momentum in both halves (like Sathuranga Vettai, Thegidi, Singam 2, Pizza 2).....exciting times for Tamil Cinema.

Personally feel it as an amateur review Things which I feel the director should have concentrated: 1: The crime link scene (at Ravi’s smart hideout) - The director could have been more specific like it is shown in the Movie Sherlock Homes. 2: The villain selection could have been made better than the pattern followed from the movie Ramana. 3: The Swiss meeting and the foreign medical assassination scene was dealt very badly. When a smart cop has been portrayed in the entire movie as a guy who can predict and plan then how could that be handled so badly. 4: Tracking system - When the super cop is so very well aware of mobile calls tracking, then how can he himself use the same technology of communicating important information through mobile which is absurd. 5: When the villain’s motto for killing his wife was due to trust issues then what difference does it make whether she is useful or not to the hero, he would have killed her. As far as movies are concerned, any normal person will only do that and that too in this movie the villain is projected as a very smart person. 6: Does the hero have magical powers to even predict the color and pattern of file which the villain would be holding? 7: When tracking Vicky, the villain informs Vicky’s brother that the hero might mimic his voice to get Vicky’s location. To mimic is possible but how can it be done from the villain’s phone itself within a few minutes (don’t see any scene to justify that the hero’s team is tech savvy). 8: Just to show the mighty prominence of Arvind Swamy, Nasser and Thambiramaiya’s characters are made a joke. Last but not the least just because it is better than the other scrap movies it cannot be treated as the best, it is only better and not the best. It definitely was pleasure watching Arvind Swamy in a different role. Good Show.
