I struggled with PP too, so we read LPP and then went back and it made all the difference. Since I have a child in year 3 almost every other year we have been alternating between a retelling for youngers and the actual PP. That has been helpful. Dangerous Journey and Little Pilgrims Big Journey have been great options. We do PP as family.

These are very helpful! Can you share your favorite early readers for children starting to read independently?

The princess and the goblin, do you use that for your son's too or just your daughter's?

I've been enjoying your videos, we also used AO and now CMEC. I'm curious if you plan to continue with CMEC long term, since the AO books are so excellent? I'm planning to transition back to AO because we always end up reading mostly AO books anyway!

Not yet- I like the reading selections for my younger ones better- and the lists overlap enough to work for me

Joy, I just joined the CMEC for 24-25 and I'm going through some of the courses. I currently use AO and I do love it. I am looking forward to the curriculum launch next month to see what books assigned for Form 1. So do you switch some CMEC books to be able to accommodate AO books? I'll have a Y3 and Y2 next school year.

What I do is watch the curriculum watch- well I listen to it. Then I look at the books I currently HAVE that are similar to the ones scheduled for CMEC. If you are just in Form 1- you should have many similar books already. What I like about the CMEC is that they schedule some of the same books only later. ie instead of having Our Island Story in Form1 CMEC puts it in Form 2. I do like this because I feel like the older children get more out of the book in this way.
Once I see what I already have - then I make my list of books I need to buy with the CMEC.
Where they will help you will be handcraft, Geography, scheduling and notebooking keeping- I'm sure there's more too - but those are what come to mind

Are there printable list for each year? I’ve been searching and haven’t found them. All I know to do is scroll through the website and make a list…suggestions? I’m enjoying these videos as I’m an overwhelmed, book lover with too many choices. 😆

Yes! The link to the schedule page is at the top of the page for each year. So, if you are on the year 3 page, look for "Year 3 schedule." On the schedule page, they have 3 download options PDF, DOC, and ODT. If you scroll down, there's a weekly list type of schedule.😊

They have a master book list. It goes in order from the first year the book is scheduled.
