in this case you set off on the right foot, think of the pace as a unbreakable chain, left right left right etc, on the last part of the movement you move your left leg last so you have to set off on your right foot. the turn is meant to be completed in the same time it would take to march 3 paces forward
nice video only one doubt after completing the about turn starting march again the army man using his right leg starting It was right or not? In my opinion every movement starting with left leg.
Good grief. I was a Cadet for six years and I spent time in the Canadian Forces. THIS IS INCORRECT. Check, In, Pivot, Pivot, Left, Right, Left! The "In" step is NOT a stomp. Then again... no one has really clarified, and it's hard to tell since the uniforms are so similar. WHERE is this? Is this in the UK, or is it Canada?
Thank you this was very useful science I have a drill assessment tonight

I've looked at AP818 and this is textbook. Thanks for going to the effort of making the video!
the new one has a swivel in it x
It should be given on the right with a check pace then round
wait every movment is on left right?
Just going to save this for the next time I forget it :)
Excellent stuff
thank you im a army cadet and i needed this to pass my test but since i never got taught it as i joined at a odd time im confused
This is not how the Army do it.
Can you update it?
Shouldnt the right heel go in to the inside of the left foot
one thing is for sure, there is going to be bell to pay on that right knee in the future,,; TLV worked perfectly well.
@samuel james, well well well, look whos brishing up on 818 before OIC....i see the about turn got you too lol!
T, L, V???
What exactly is wrong?
nice video only one doubt after completing the about turn starting march again the army man using his right leg starting It was right or not? In my opinion every movement starting with left leg.
In about turn it is right
If you have a look through ap818 you will find this is perfectly correct.
Wrong, he done three stomps or whatever you call them your supposed to do two on the right and two on the other direction.
Might be different for air cadets but it army and police it's not like that.
u just need to do Check, T, L, V away on the right fpoot
The first move should be the left foot forming a T with the right foot, not a pivot
T,L,V Is not used. There is a pivot on the right foot.
424 on top
Been in army cadets for 3 years rank sergeant c company and this is wrong I teach this
There's a difference between air cadet drill and army cadet drill, we always have the command given on the left foot for this movement.
We have it on right as then u can't have check pace round
That is what what do I'm afraid, it's set out that way in our drill manual, which is an adaptation of the RAF drill and ceremonial manual
No it is not.

This is UK ATC following the current Drill and Ceremonial manual AP818.
This video is very much correct.
Very good to know! I think most of these comments (like mine) were so volatile because they weren't sure where this is from.
