Aquilla, Do you have a written pattern for this heel pattern 1up 2 down thingy??? I am having trouble following along and running back and forth to my machine to try it. :)
My Erlbacher Manual does not show this 1 up 2 down method you are using in this video. They must have removed this heel from their manual. I do have the Deb Oswald method in the manual. Do you have a page number for your manual that I can check out?
I apologize I just read through my manual and couldn't find it. I really thought it was in there. I know I watched a few videos on UA-cam of this. And I think I have them linked somewhere. I really do apologize, I thought It was from their book
I do. The toe is always the same amount of stitches on each side of the cylinder. If you did more stitches on 1 side vs the other. You would get a weird pocket of fabric when closing the toe
So how do they wear differently? I have always wondered. I admit to having skipped the knitting part of the video, since I use a csm too. It’s about wrinkles in the sock, right? Deep heel is less wrinkles for high instep?
I don't wear enough socks with a deep heel. Mostly my shorties have a deep heel. It helps keep the sock without a real leg portion on the heel better. The deep heel helps people with a bigger instep reducing the tightness on the top of the foot where it meets your leg. And would reduce wrinkles too
I liked seeing the two heels on the same sample. You could really see the height difference.
Such an interesting video thanks for posting it
I'm helping my adult daughter build a 3D printed knitting machine, So this video really helps a lot! I'm a gear head, so this is quite the challenge.
I would love to know how it turns out! Glad these can help visually.
I love the idea of a deep heel. 🥰 I never considered that...
I don't have this machine, don't know if I will, but this information is so helpful! Thank you so much for making this video!
Great Teaching Video. Thank you So MUCH!!!!
You're welcome!!!

Thank you
In regards to the non deep heel, do you make the toes the same way?
I do. The toe is always the same amount of stitches on each side of the cylinder. If you did more stitches on 1 side vs the other. You would get a weird pocket of fabric when closing the toe
Colors on cylinders, can you explain what all your colors and marks are for
They are for when I stop doing my heel decreases. Or a deep heel. The two on the sides are my half marks.
At what point do you decide that you need to do a deep heal?
I do a deep heel for people with a bigger arch or with a big instep. I also do deep heels for shortie socks
Do offer virtual private lessons. Beginner really struggling with this heel business. 😂
I just got my machine about 6 weeks ago and love it! Since you’re doing a deep heel and adding 8 rows, do you shorten the foot part by 8 rows?
Yes, but only half of the rows added. So 4 rows lengthen the foot. The other four would lengthen the leg.
