I usually have at least one planter for mushrooms in my greenhouse...i like to keep my flowers outside 😊 glowing mushroom and imp stool are shoe ins... I also love glowing mushroom for fortify destruction potions. The most expensive (i.e. highest exp for both alchemy and speech) potion for "plantable" ingredients is creep cluster, mora tap, and scaly phol, two of which are mushrooms, so they go in the mushroom planter too. Other things I've planted are the things that tend to be slightly less common in the world for their usefulness...deathbell, wheat... I've even planted leeks before, because they always seem to be the rarest ingredient for soups and stews. I know I'm forgetting some things but that's what's off the top of my head.
Early game, I split between batches of Imp Stool/Canis Root/Mora Tapinella for the paralysis/lingering damage health poisons. It's a literal life-saver on higher difficulty levels early in the game. Then, as I need more money for training, I switch to the Creep Cluster/Mora Tapinella/Scaly Pholiota. And then, for end game, I make large batches of fortify potions, healing potions, and resist potions in a rotation as needed.
You know I be lovin alchemy videos. Well produced, too! It'd be easy to expand this just a little and discuss the "optimal" greenhouse/Windstad setup. ....heh....cannotis root
Yeah, I might do something like that too. Thing is, the optimal setup for me changes over the course of a playthrough, but still a good idea. I'll have to think on it.
@@carn114 honestly, I've never tried rotating crops in the planters as needed. It's a very interesting idea. Alchemy is so often dismissed, I don't think it gets its due credit beyond exploiting restoration. But as you said, some potions and poisons can truly make the difference at higher difficulties. Worth considering.
@@SquawkMonk Fascinating jow folks use these tools differently, isn't it? This game offers so many of them that we can find new uses even 12 years later. My own methods even continue to change
@@carn114 alchemy in particular brings in sooo many cool options. Slow time, a trusty bow, and a selection of choice poisons, and any bandit crew is in trouble.
I'd save your space to plant grass pod's and white cap's and mora tapinella the other ingredients are so easy to get as its not really necessary to plant them. grass pods for alteration white cap for magic regen and mora tapinella for stamina regen
Good call, while the grass pods can be easily obtained on the northern coastline, it makes sense to farm them at home if you're going to use lots of them as a mage.
I'd probably plant the rarer ingredients like Juniper berries, Taproot and those red vines you find on the ground. I haven't dabbled very much in alchemy because I generally find an abundance oi potions in the world anyway but this is certainly useful if you want to go down the alchemy route 😉
All great points. Planting rare ingredients seems wise, but I came at this from a usefulness angle. Paralysis, fortify archery, smithing, and one handed, and resist elements potions are always useful, and even necessary on higher difficulty levels. If they're useful enough, you'll use them, and you won't be able to hoard them. Just think about the things you could do with a lifetime supply of paralysis poisons! Juniper berries are a good shout, but they are very plentiful in the Reach, much more-so than Canis Root in the Rift. When you pick the berries, now you'll have a steady supply of Canis Root at home to mix it with for powerful Archery potions!
so i saw you did a scorpion themed playthrough. will you be doing skarlet? she uses blood magic which is easy to replicate with both mods and within the vanilla game, and shes an assassin, so it fits skyrims world well.
Haha, it's funny you mention Skarlet. She's a pretty deep cut for folks who haven't been loyally playing MK recently. But she's also on the top of my shortlist of MK builds to create. As you say, she just fits in really well in terms of gameplay and even aesthetic. And a knife-fighting hemo-spellblade build sounds fun as hell to play.
Is hanging moss plantable? Might be a good way to stock up on that while you gather other rare ingredients like giants toe and bear claws to make a strong fortify 1h and hp potion.
@@lul6124 btw, for an EASY health potion, go for blue mountain flower, wheat, and lavender. It'll fortify and restore health, and it'll fortify conjuration too! One of the most easily obtained yet most useful potions around IMO
I missed the 1h part...for that, the closest to farmable as far as I know is hanging moss, canis root and juniper, which is fortify 1h and marksman...but there's a better one for two handed... dragons tongue + fly amanita + scaly phol makes fortify two handed, stamina regen and illusion, AND resist fire. Good stuff. I like alchemy 😁
Damn, a fellow Alchemy stan, eh? I love it! I normally keep my potions simple with 1 or two effects, so they are easier to manage in the quick menu. But these are all great suggestions!
I’m so happy you mentioned the mora tapinella + imp stool + canis root poison. It’s been my favorite ever since I found out about it
Yep, super useful, and you can sell it for a huge profit. Team tapimpcan!

My favorite part about it is that it makes all play-styles stronger, and therefor all playstyles viable at high difficulty levels.

wow this is underrated. Sadly I can't plant soul tomato(yes it exist!). I want something more than just money and potion....
Thanks, not sure why this video did poorly, really. Being able to plant the soul tomato would be amazing, though!

Hanging moss isn't plantable exactly, but several do regularly spawn if you build a greenhouse onto your Hearthfire house.
