Thank you, Dr., for sharing your sweet, gentle, funky, individual self! Beautiful talk to listen to and also to see that delicate effervescent force of passion emanating from your eyes!
What a sweet person...so very gentle and soft spoken, Was watching his recent interview with Tavis Smiley.. I wish I could hit the "'like"' symbol 6 million times.
I am lucky enough to have seen Dr L twice in Vancouver at the now gone Cellar jazz club. On both occasions I had a chance to meet Lonnie, I never knew exactly what to say so I just told him I loved his music and hoped he enjoyed his time in Vancouver and Canada. The times I did catch his gig at the Cellar both Lonnie and Crash really ripped it up and it was awesome. The way I see it is Dr Lonnie is welcome in my town any day.
Cool, I also caught him a number of times in Vancouver over the years. Lonnie has always been one of my absolute favourite Hammond players. And cheers to Cory Weeds for his love of the Hammond and bringing Lonnie (and other jazz organists) to Vancouver.
Beautiful man and artist though like others I certainly don’t agree that old school jazz is dead when it’s played in the present; who could Linda be talking about?
Lmao your coping bro. He is following hardcore sikh religion. I haven't googled this but Im sure he's also a vegetarian which sikhs are also supposed to be.
As time goes on he will become more prominent in the black community for his faith being one of the first American blacks to prominently enjoy the treasure of being a sikh
Rest In Peace Dr. Lonnie Smith, music was his life.

Lonnie, hello from your long, lost friend, Wesley from Omaha.
He lived in my neighborhood. I had a few lengthy conversations with him. Got a photo of him, Lou Donaldson, my BFF, and me. I TOTALLY dug this guy.
R.I.P. Dr Lonnie Smith and thanks for all your music.

R.I.P Doc! We Love you!
So do we, he'll be deeply missed
He's a nice person, with a tender and joyful character... Saying what he thinks in a relaxed was, not trying to look smart.
