  • Hi all!
    It's no secret that I'm a fan of Christopher Ward - but it's for a reason! This year they celebrate their 20 year anniversary as a company, as well as the 10 year anniversary of their in-house automatic movement, the SH21.
    This most recent release is an elevated addition to their Twelve range - now housing their SH21 Calibre and showcased through a titanium skeletonised dial! (An upgrade on their clasp has also got me excited!👀)
    Apologies for the poor lighting on the videos. Is there a single venue that doesn't have terrible lighting?!
    Let me know your thoughts on this new release in the comments section below.
    As always, if you enjoy my content then make sure to like, comment and subscribe to support the channel!

    Best thing about it is no CW logo on the dial imho. Would rather have a BB or OP.

    Love it. Though just thinking of getting the C63 white dial Seelander 36mm on bracelet, as the size for me will make it a great GADA watch I think. Thanks for the update.

    This will definitely sit as a left-field choice for the general public in this price point - but I do think it'll be one of those watches you'll spot from across the room and you'll KNOW they're a watchfam person.
    The Twelve is a brilliant watch and it is truly warming to see CW push through their branding difficulties of years gone and mature into what we have today. It used to be that I would point any person looking for a first watch and brands like Seiko, Oris & Longines. I think CW now sits firmly at the top in terms of quality and value for money.

    Hi I'm new to your channel I'm a really big fan of Christopher ward I own four of them I really like this new watch especially as it's bigger than the 12 as the smallest watch I can get away with is 41mm as I have a 8 1/2 inch wrist size.im not doubting it's probably good value for the money with the in-house movement. compered to my Rolex omega s etc but I haven't gone past the 2k mark with Christopher ward yet and maybe pushing the price point to fast in this market. if they want to achieve this price range I think it's time to go into retail shop/boutiques or even start maybe with cruise ships all airports I do think the trident range is the best value for money watch I've ever seen including my Rolex omega Tudor breitling etc when you take everything into account great video thanks John.

    Very nice video Lucy. The watch is nice, but I don't think offers anything too unique in the market. I prefer the look of the Oris Big Crown ProPilot X (another X🙄), and for around the same money, the Zenith Defy Skeleton watches. I believe this is now the most expensive regular model watch released by the brand, which is going to challenge its customer base. Still, I'm sure it will do well.

      I think you raise great points. But I always think these skeletonised references are even more subjective to taste than "normal" pieces. I think if you're happy to pay extra for a skeletonised version of a cheaper watch, you will just as easily pick a brand name like CW that you normally wouldn't choose over Oris or Zenith (as an aside - I also think the Oris X was slow to sell? They hung around in shops for quite a while...).
      At a time when pretty much every brand is hiking prices well past the rate of inflation (Speedmaster and JLC Reverso, anyone?) I think this is a nice move - and it's not just a price hike for the sake of it, you're getting that SH21 and also the skeletonisation and increased level of finishing.
      I think The Twelve has been a home run product for CW and having a true halo piece of the line makes sense. They could have just gone the "lazy route" of making one from solid gold or another precious metal...
      And I agree - I do think (and hope!) it'll do well!

    • @TheWatchBoxDiaries

      Oohh I love a good debate!
      I get where you're coming from.. it won't be for everyone and that's totally okay. A skeltonised watch is a bold choice and some people might just have brand preferences. But in terms of what CW have produced, for the price you get a lot for your money. Inflation plays a part too but that goes for all watch brands!
      Thank you for watching and telling me your opinion! Love hearing what everyone else thinks too!

    Another great vid Lucy and great to see you back again. Their quality is outstanding for the price point, but this is a bit toppy for me for a CW. But I get that they have now got a couple of halo pieces, this and the Bel Canto.

      Thanks! Hopefully you'll be seeing me more regularly from now on!
      Totally understand that. It's quite a price difference compared to the majority of their ranges but it's a special anniversary that requires a special watch! It won't be for everyone design wise either, but it's a statement and yet another show of that quality to price bar they set 👌

    They’ve done a great job with this, it seems a very similar proposition to the Oris ProPilot X, right down to the power reserve. Do they collaborate with Oris at all?

    Admittedly it's not skeletonised, doesn't have an on the fly adjustable bracelet, and is not made from titanium but I own a Christopher Ward with their sh21 manual wind movement bought in a sale in 2017 for £6OO. That's a big price jump.

    • @TheWatchBoxDiaries
      @TheWatchBoxDiaries  4 місяці тому +1

      They have made some serious upgrades and the attention to detail is fantastic. Granted the price does seem quite expensive compared to the majority of their range, but it's a leap in terms of quality too.
      Totally appreciate if it's not your cup of tea though!

    • @Hipnosis65
      @Hipnosis65 4 місяці тому

      @@TheWatchBoxDiaries yes, it is that bad. For a watch company known for originality, this is disappointing. You can hardly read it. Kind of important when checking the time. The movement is nice, but it's a monochrome mish mash and boring. And the hint of Royal Oak is so cliché. Gerald Genta designed some classics, but even AP is kicking a dead horse with overuse of that design.
