hey Jamie. Those are pretty vibrant shorts there. Not often does the saturation go off the scale from someone's shorts. In that case with something like that - there is an OFX called the Gamut Limiter that would pull something like that in for you. Not sure when you are going that fast that using sharpness on a still is a good judgement call. The motion blur is a big part of it feeling filmic. It actually should be pretty blurry. I haven't had anyone give me GoPro 10 footage, so can't add anything to the actual grade, except that the finished grade looks good.
The challenge for me with GoPro in the past, is matching it up to normal footage. There has always been a sharpness on the edges that looked kind of videoy ( not a word ). Anyway short and concise as usual. Looks like you are coming close to 100k subs - congrats. You deserve it.
True. I tried to stop the clip where there wasn’t too much motion blur. I find the in camera sharpening to be terrible so I like to do it in post. The gamut limiter is a great idea didn’t think about it. I would either key it or adjust the sat curve to help and balance it. And yes almost at 100k!!! That means a lot thank you so much. Almost there 😃
Thank you so much for this video Jamie! I've been watching so many color grading videos and most of them are so complicated or just don't work well of my footage. But this video helped me a lot! Again, thanks a lot! And keep up the good work! You got a new sub
Jamie, I watched a number of videos on how to grade GoPro footage and all of the results I got were horrible, and the process to get to horrible was convoluted and drawn-out. I just followed your quick tutorial and got the result I was looking for instantly. Thank you for creating this tutorial 👍
Hell yea. Thank you I’m glad you found this video! :)
i love the way of delivering infos, easy and fast. well done mate 👍
I am not a pro, video is just a small hobby. You made me switch from other apps to davinci... C'mon dude, you deserve more subs
Man thank you so much… almost to 100k though!!!
This helped a ton, thank you!
Yo I just started DaVinci resolve and I've been watching your vids and they really helped me out with VFX and I love your short VFX tutorials they save my time and it's more effective than other longer tutorials.Thank you Jamie. All I am having trouble with is soft glow and the neon effect and I am making a montage like I really need help with it
Awesome, thank you!
First time ever arriving early lol
Nice little tutorial. Have noticed that Resolve grades GoPro footage better than when I used to use Premier pro for some strange reason.
Hmmm not sure.
Ah man, just that little Pivot adjustment made a huge difference for me! Had been struggling with getting a good image in higher dynamic range shots where the highlights get blown out. It makes sense now that I've done more research on it after your video, but wanted to come back and thank you for the info, my grades look so much better, can't wait to post the new results! 😁
The pivot adjustment is key for sure!! Thanks for the feedback. Glad your shots looks much better now. Cheers man! 💪🏽
Love you brother. This is the one i want :)
This video came just on time . Great bike buddy 🤟
Thanks 👍 And thank you I LOVE it!
Did i mention that I have always loved your thumbnail game ;)
Aye thank you!! 🌌🔥🙌🏽
Great tutorial - Great to see ya back 🙏🏻🤟
Hey thanks! I had to take some time off because I had surgery but more videos are on the way!
@@JamieFenn speedy recovery man 🙏🤘
Subtle changes but very effective and useful, as always great tutorials. Thank you for sharing, keep up the awesomeness.
CHEERS!!
Yep! Not too complicated and you get amazing results!
@@JamieFenn Yeah easy that made all the difference from raw GoPro shot. IT's like one say, "keep it simple even when it's complicated".
Fantastic!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice tutorial, thank you.
You are welcome!
man - thank you!
You're welcome!
Bro create a video on how to edit a 5 to 10mins vlog pleasee
Sure 😊
Thankyou 📸👌
You're welcome 😊
Great video Bro I can see 100k soon
Thanks bro!!! So CLOSE!
Very good vid.
Thanks!
Thank you for this great video one question How to turn protune setting
Settings--->protune
Can you do a video bout slowing clips down with high frame rate and time line frame rates on davinci?
Hey Jamie, How are u? well my last clip was awesome applying this color grading (IG reel) thanks in advance, one question, do you work with RAW ?
Great video. i am a 2d compositor and learning grading in Davinci it is pretty similar to nuke but i will say even more precise minus my camera sure not has good of the movie but the range is great
Haven’t got a Hero 10 yet but i sure plan on getting one soon…great tutorial 😎
Do you have a GoPro at all?
@@JamieFenn yeah, i have a Hero 9 but was messed up by water damage from letting a random kid run around with it to get footage and was brought back with the battery door open 😢 now it just cuts on by itself so im just going to go ahead and get the 10
Hero10 just came it 🙌🏾
Great knowledge on the bright and dark spots on a trail, as a MTB UA-camr those are the Bain of my existence. Do you notice a difference when you add sharpening in post vs setting sharp to High on the GoPro?
Yea sometimes its tough to control the highlights on the Gopro in shots like this. I totally understand... I think turning the sharpening to high in camera is a bad idea because it looks way to sharp in my opinion. Leaving it on low lets you control the overall look in post and I would rather have the flexibly to add the amount I like rather than a baked in sharpness.
How about editing and keeping the telemetry?
Awesome video. Are there any setting for the GoPro to flat the color for grading?
Yes. Use the flat profile
Hi Jamie, great tips, thank you. I myself find correcting the color in log mode very useful. Any idea about that?
What do you mean? You mean using the Log wheels?
@@JamieFenn yes the log wheels give me much more control with protune GoPro footage.
What are you using for your Project Settings in Resolve ? I am really not sure what to put for Input Color Space for GoPro Flat
Thank you Jamie! I could follow almost all of the tips, except for in the sharpening step, the controls for Coring Softness and Level are grayed out for some reason. I use the licensed/paid version of Resolve 18.6.
You have to apply sharpening via the slider (pulling it down) before you can adjust those other two parameters
Which settings do you use in Davinci when you're editing GoPro footage? Especially the optimized media and render cache would be intersting to know how to ideally set it up. I would really appreciate any help!
I don't know how... But this came out when my client asked me to colour grade and edit his GoPro videos.. Thanks Man...
Can you please Zoom in your screen recordings..when you point out specific parts of the software... It would be easily visible
What is your contact info.
Wait that's you!!
I swear I saw this cycling video somewhere else too.
Instagram?
@@JamieFenn yeah maybe
Thanks for this, good tutorial. Im struggling to find the right way to film with the Gopro. Can you show a tutorial on how to grade it when vlogging. Or can you use the same settings?, thinking about the skin tones
Do the exact same steps as I did in this video. :)
@@JamieFenn thank you
@@JamieFenn what about iso settings. What do you recommend in min/max?
I personally dont go higher than 800 for video.
Wow
Thanks for the tips, is there reason why you set WB to native instead of 5k in camera? Also is there a difference between the way you adjusted the highlights in HDR or in curves vs the the highlight box below the wheels?
Native seems to be the best WB for all around. (I have found it works best over the last couple years) And the HDR pallet helps fine tune different luminance ranges) I just wanted to show a couple options on how I control the highlights.
@@JamieFenn Thanks as the GoPro WB always drives me nuts. I started with Native then started using 5k then 5.5k. Now I'll give Native another try. What is the difference between all the ways you can control highlights in Resolve? Is there one method better than others? Or just different ways to do the same thing.
As I show in the video I like to use the HDR wheels. But it depends on your footage and taste!
saturation up to 100% - looking good.... only pants have exploded with blown out color!
Hey mate, do you use any color space transforms b4 grading?
Depends on the footage. I color correct to my my log/raw footage to get it to look at accurately as it did when filmed, then add a “look” grade whether it be a lut or manual.
Hi, Flat + post production, is it really better than GoPro vibrant or natural mode ? Regards
Depends how much time/work you want to put into the colors and if you want to create youre own creative look.
Ты невероятен
As a beginner the nodes totally lose me.. Several vids about them explained etc still cant grasp it lol.. The rest seems very doable with some exp but do the nodes all mesh together somehow to give you a final product? I know you can make diff ones to do diff things but it still hasnt clicked..
you say white balance native, but why put most of the FPV Pilots the White balance all to, 5500k most of the time? Is there any benefit that you could explain for keeping it Native? Thank you so much!
The "Native" white balance is actually more to do with the Color Gamut. The other "White Balance" settings use a Rec.709 Color Space whereas Native uses what is "visible" to the sensor and hence covers a wider spectrum.
What do you set your EV to ?
Keep it at 0
@@JamieFenn thank you. A bunch of other UA-cam Udee a GoPro LUT creators say -0.5
Please PremierePro 🙏
