Agree with most of the things in the video but the nails on the bottom of the flange is going to make it leak again. Even if you caulked it, having a nail pretty much directly below the water trough that you just cut out, is going to have water directly going towards the nail that has caulking overtop. The caulking is going to shrink and crack because its in direct sunlight, then water will just seap in.
Either use neoprene washered screws or only put a nail or two towards the middle of the flange and put some caulking on the underside of the flange on the sides
If you watch how I installed the vent you'll see that I actually used grommet screws on bottom. I just said it wrong when I was explaining. I always used screws
