Hello I have questions that maybe offsubject of this particular video. I have allergies to coconut and tree nuts, it is hard to find soaps (liquid or solid) without them. So I reaching on how to make my own 100% olive soaps for my personal use. My question is: Where is the olive oils coming from? What type of olive oil is being used? Are people using cooking oil from the grocery store or does it have to be special ordered? Do you a post about where to get your oils? Thank you much for your kind and gentle instructions!
Ahh…it was a hot process soap to start with. Didn’t realise that. Rewatching 😊 Or, maybe that was a slip? Why wouldn’t you gift that beautiful soap that’s been ‘milled’? Twice the work = twice the price 😊😊 A precious gift indeed ❤ As are you
This just happened to me a few hours ago. I was so bummed. I was recording as well lol... I was able to get it into the mold but not able to do a swirl. I placed it in the fridge because it got really hot. Took it out of the mold and it's not too bad. It was the fragrance oil I used. Lesson learned for a beginner. Thanks for the video.
I too was wondering if I needed a slow cooker for a rebatch... Could I fix a soap by this method if it's too soft... I used to much of soft oils in one of my soap recipe and it's soo soft...
@@janicedias_sowgrowanddiy As far as I know, if after 7-14 days soap is still soft, it is unlikely to harden. I was taught to formulate using 40% hard oil or butter + 60% soft oil and also add sea salt + sugar into water before adding lye.
Elly I just want to say thank you! Three months ago I rebatched Castile soaps that did not set for 4 days. I felt sick about wasting the ingredients. But your video ( older one that shows rebatch mistake soap) saved mine! It came out ok. Thank you for all you do.😊
Many thanks for sharing this information! I have had this nightmare to happen on several occasions; mainly because the fragrance that I thought would be great for it would accelerate my batter! UGH!

Thanks for sharing Elly! I had the very same problem with a neem soap! I used the hot process method too, to save it. I was wonderful soap! Greetings from Guatemala!
Oh really!? That's a nice confirmation for me, thank you. I used the Neem Oil I bought from a local market for this recipe, but clearly it was quite different than the other neem oil I used (the one from New Directions was lovely and no issues at all). I guess they mix it with another oil which caused the acceleration?
Thanks for showing a rebatch soap. I have not been able to find a second hand slow cooker so it was very nice to see one done on the stove top. I think they look nice enough to give as gifts. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thanks Brenda, unfortunately they weren't ready in time for the housewarming party, but I will give some to the family when they are ready. I think they'll like them all the same :)
This is a really helpful video Elly! Thanks. It's great to know how easy it is to process Now I've rebatched some soap myself, thanks to your advice a week or so ago, I want to say, it's not at all the drama I thought it might be.
What a great video. When you said you could not believe that it had happened, I felt the same way you did when I had my fail. It’s hard when things don’t go to plan when you are doing it for someone else. These turned out beautifully. They look gorgeous. I love the look of hot process soap. I can’t believe how quickly they cooked. Brilliant. Thank you for sharing Elly!! Best wishes. Cassandra. 😊😊
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking aww thank you Elly! I feel the same. It’s the beauty in some ways of all these online methods of connecting. In some ways we get to know people we wouldn’t usually due to location. I have some people who I consider wonderful friends who I have not yet ever met. And the soaping community can be so lovely, it’s a great way to connect. I think George and I were friends for over a year before we got to meet when he came down to Melbourne. It’s an interesting new world. I hope you have a lovely weekend. And I’m so glad you saved your precious soap! 😊😊
Ok is it just me or does Elly's soap look like a scrumptious piece of bread. 😅 You are such a great teacher. I have seen others rebatch soap, but the soap comes out looking somewhat crumbly. I recently took the leap of faith and participated as a vendor in a craft show. I sold soaps and other products. My # 1 item that sold was a body cream in a particular fragrance. Many asked me if I had the fragrance in a soap. The reason why I do not is because it accelerates like crazy. I will now attempt to make the soap and if my plan goes south I now know I can save the soap. Thank you so much. I have learned so much from watching your channel.
So I had a batch I made today thicken very quickly, then when I added the oils (clove and cinnamon but only half as much as recommended) they turned red as soon as they hit the batter and once I got it combined and into the mold everything turned dark red and started separating! It didn't seize, but I realized I had put a few too many things in it for the lye to play with and get all exothermic (pumpkin puree, grated nutmeg, honey) and I accidentally made a hot process batch without having to add extra heat, I kept hitting it with the stick blender in brief bursts where it was looking greasy till it re-incorporated the oils and stopped getting hotter... it got that melty marshmallow cooked soap texture and I broke the handle off my spatula trying to squish it into the mold, but washing up afterwards, it's certainly lathering like soap! I guess I should have watched this video first, then I'd have added a little water, it did get kind of dry and crusty on top, not very appealing. I've cracked slow cooker liners twice by using them for things that didn't fill them all the way and leaving the lid off (things like condensing apple butter), I think the temperature differential with the lid off is just too much for the ceramic liners. Thankfully, my 6 cup rice cooker has proven to be the perfect water bath under a 1.5 litre pyrex bowl which is just right for a 600g (oil) batch, the "high" setting for melting the oils and the "keep warm" setting if I want to infuse the oils with something. If I decide I'm going to try selling soap, I think one of those batter-pouring measuring bowls would be a reasonable upgrade if I want to do bigger batches, one other soapmaker I watch uses something similar.
I had this happen to 2 batches..was trying to make a rose soap..but the fragrance oil made it hard straight away..for 2 batches🤬 so i followed your other video and put both batches into crock pot with a wee bit of water and hot processed it for a few hours ..ph tested it at green and put into log mould. Took ages to dry/ harden...but holy moly the soap has turned out hard and lathers amazingly..smells great. So even thou it was a frustration it ended up being probably my favourite soap..and was one of your recipes..which i love.❤
Your soap ended up being beautiful!!!❤️👍 Thank you for the video! I also loved your idea of putting end pieces together. So smart! I will be doing that with my soaps now if you don’t mind.😊
Aloha! It's been a bit over a year since I did my last (beginner) soap batch...'cause "life happens", but today I decided to try your Honey Castile Shaker Soap. It's funny that I find this video just after I've finished. I almost had a soap-on-a-stick type situation because I used Plumeria Fragrance in my batch, which caused a very quick trace in the shakers (I had to use 2 smaller shakers for lack of a larger one). I was wondering if I was going to have to pull out my s/s soap saucepan to save it somehow. Luckily, I was able to get it all scooped out and smoothed (ahem) into my molds before it became unruly. Thankfully, it seems to have worked out and I look forward to checking on it after a bit. I hope Grandma (98) likes it when it's ready. 😃Happy to be back on your channel learning again!! 🤙

Thanks Elly, I just made a charcoal soap and put Blue Lotus and Pink lotus essential oil. I think it has caused the problem. I have let it set completely, but I am guessing if I grate it down I can process it as you have done here. Any hints on how to use these essential oils so they behave? The perfume is fantastic, I used the cedar wood as the base oil
Thank you Elly! I read that hp soap is safe to use straight from the mold unlike cp soap. So it can be used straight away, but will need 4 weeks to harden?
I had this problem too with my third batch of soap, a purely cleansing recipe. I grate some and scrub the bathroom with it.I wanted to rebatch it,but there was so much heat within the seized soap that I was afraid that putting it on the stove would cause an explosion .I therefore cut what I could get into a loaf mould into a few bars and after 2 weeks of curing use it as laundry soap
Same happened to me twice. First with spice mix, and now with pumpkin spice soap. One of the batches was fine, and the second one...this 🤭 also had the lovely Petit gâteau effect happen in the middle. I'm going to cut it up. Now I will have a pumpkin spice late soap 🤷
I love watching your soap making videos, along with these that provide extra learning. Would you have any ideas to rebatch some soap I made some time ago (just was unsure how to fix it and didn’t want to just toss it) that I added too much ylang ylang eo to?
Elly. Hi there. I made soap last night and it seized. I think it was the fragrance but I also added clay. And the oils were likely more than 20 degrees cooler than the lye solution. Anyway, I molded it but concerned that it didn’t saponify. Is it too take tonight to try to melt it into a little water and blend it together better and remold ? Thank you ❤❤
Hi elly, new soaper here 😊. I want to ask is there any difference between using infused oil and fresh ingredients juice/tea as lye water solution replacement?
Ha ha! Funnily enough - it looks like my Banana soap! I made two batches - 1 with dried peel, ground up as much as I could, & 1 with the dried peel, & mashed banana. Both are great - banana has such great skin loving properties. Especially the skin. It was very labour intensive, as you might imagine, but I give it to my friends for a facial soap. Albeit I use most of my soaps on my fizzog 😊😊
Thank you for thos video! Question: What if I use ounces and need to add extra water so the soap don't dry out? How much water would I know to add like you did?
Hi Elly….just a question. i tried making aloe and cucumber soap with olive, palm, coconut oil along with kokum butter. I used cucumber and aloe puree with cucumber essential oil. But the recipe got seized. What do you think happened? It really didnt turn good as i thought. Please save me😟Will this method help me to get something good?
It was probably the cucumber fragrance oil. FO's are notorious for seizing soap! May have been high saturated fats too, depending on how hot your ingredients were.
Hy can we make soap canola oil and coconut oil? Canola oil high in linolenic and linolic acid thats cause DOS what is the percentage of those two oils ?
Good morning, I love your videos. I would like to know if you make soap with recycled oil for cleaning? And if you can share the link with me, thank you very much.
And methinks less mess and resultant soap bars easier to use than balls. I remember when they were ‘a thing’ ; ) ; ). P.S . Remember your friends don’t know how you intended your soap to be; ) ; ) Apart from them actually being stand-out!
Thank you Elly! 👌 Could you do that with already -long- set soap too? Cut it up, melt and re-pour? My last batch from some months ago acted weird, it turned somewhat gelly from inside out and now it seems to sweat some fat…? 🤪 I use it without any problem, but it’s less attractive to sell. Or should I just wipe off the fat? Besides that sweating, it’s firm.
You sure can! I made another video about general rebatching here ua-cam.com/video/STQ-C4L363o/v-deo.html but it's basically the same process. Not sure what happened with your soap. Have you tested the pH? Sounds like something amiss with the recipe there.
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking Thank you so much, I’ll watch that! Much appreciated! 👌 I don’t really think I’ll do that with this particular batch, since it’s not BAD-bad, but definitely good to know! I’ve just received pH strips and a pH device, for my fermentations… 😂 A new hobby I started. But I have no clue what to look for in soap pH… I’ve been making soap for some years now, but obviously I’m still clueless… 😅 I use a soap calculator app on my iPad and use whatever oils I have at hand with the most part often being herbal infused olive oil, before they go rancid. 🤷♀️

@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking Thank you for your kind response. I've learned a lot from your videos. I'm curious, is there a specific reason why you do not do milk soaps?
Soap is soap, it's never going to be really moisturising. But this would be my pick for you (it's the most gentle and thick LS I know of) ua-cam.com/video/Q-Ul8NNQZqg/v-deo.html
Help , I have a soap with too much oil. I tried recooking in slow cooker but that didn’t work, it’s still extremely soft. This is a hop infused olive oil, French green clay, beer for the liquid and clove EO. Can I rebatch a second time ? Adding what ?
Ooh, that's tricky! Theoretically, if your soap has too much oil, then you need to add more lye. I'd be very careful though. It's not something I'd recommend unless you're very safe and confident.
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking thank you, at this point I either throw it out or try something. Just upset about a big waste of oils, thanks again for the info

Well that seems like a good outcome! Well done.
I love watching your soap making videos, along with these that provide extra learning.
Would you have any ideas to rebatch some soap I made some time ago (just was unsure how to fix it and didn’t want to just toss it) that I added too much ylang ylang eo to?
It's hard to dilute the ylang ylang, but you could grate it up finely and mix into another, fresh soap batter? Confetti soap style?
I used to make neem soap with 30% neem oil. It was race against time every time 🌱
Elly. Thank you ❤❤
Thank you!!
You're welcome :)
I have a love hate relationship with rebatching but it is satisfying to do but annoying when your soap doesn’t come out how you first intended
Hi elly, new soaper here 😊. I want to ask is there any difference between using infused oil and fresh ingredients juice/tea as lye water solution replacement?
This is wonderful. Thank u Ellie for your wonderful videos. I really cant help it but this soap looks like banana bread yummy ❤
Ah that's so funny, someone else said that too :)
…and you still got 16!
Thank you for thos video! Question: What if I use ounces and need to add extra water so the soap don't dry out? How much water would I know to add like you did?
The details for that are in the description :)
That's what I do it comes out fine
Nice. Yes it's just a HP soap, which I love!
Wished i saw this yesterday! My soap seized. So now i think ill rebatch
I have never done that, but would like to!
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking Esta bien muchas gracias.
You could make soap balls too but id cook it, just like you 😊💞
I made soap balls once years ago, they were great but this was more practical.
And methinks less mess and resultant soap bars easier to use than balls. I remember when they were ‘a thing’ ; ) ; ). P.S . Remember your friends don’t know how you intended your soap to be; ) ; ) Apart from them actually being stand-out!
Thank you Elly! 👌
Could you do that with already -long- set soap too? Cut it up, melt and re-pour?
My last batch from some months ago acted weird, it turned somewhat gelly from inside out and now it seems to sweat some fat…? 🤪
I use it without any problem, but it’s less attractive to sell.
I don’t really think I’ll do that with this particular batch, since it’s not BAD-bad, but definitely good to know!
I’ve just received pH strips and a pH device, for my fermentations… 😂 A new hobby I started. But I have no clue what to look for in soap pH… I’ve been making soap for some years now, but obviously I’m still clueless… 😅
I use a soap calculator app on my iPad and use whatever oils I have at hand with the most part often being herbal infused olive oil, before they go rancid. 🤷♀️
I am a fermenter too, so I get that! Great you're into that also. pH is really important for soap making. These two vids will help:

Thank you so much, I will watch these! When I find time, after tomorrow probably, maybe tonight. I really appreciate your responses and help a lot, thank you! 🫶
Nice safe. Love your videos. Have you made any goat's milk soap before?
Thanks so much. Nah, I'm not into milk soap.
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking Thank you for your kind response. I've learned a lot from your videos. I'm curious, is there a specific reason why you do not do milk soaps?
IM looking for a thick moisturizing shower liquid soap. Do you have any suggestions?
Soap is soap, it's never going to be really moisturising. But this would be my pick for you (it's the most gentle and thick LS I know of) ua-cam.com/video/Q-Ul8NNQZqg/v-deo.html
Hi Elly, have you ever tried to make a shampoo?
Yes, but I'm not a fan of shampoo soap.
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking I’m sorry I meant liquid shampoo.
I am not a fan of shampoo bars as well. Thank you
Hy i have question what is the expiration date of Bastille soap
Hi, For how long to leave it before using it? Thanks
It depends on how much water you add, but 4-6 weeks should do it.
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking does it mean getting rid of all water to have stable soap
Can I used perilla oil in soap making. How much 7:48
Hi ! Dear Elly. May i ask , I want to take a course . How can i get it. Thanks a lot.
This channel is my course! :)
Im laughing at myself because i thought you would just take a scoop and stuff the molds. Then you tell us how to do it, im like oh that make sense 😹
It was way too hard to scoop!

Hi, I made your beginners batch soap and after 30 hours I can't get the soap out of the plastic molds. I don't know what happened.
Plastic moulds don't work unfortunately. You'd need a silicone mould, or line your plastic mould with non-stick baking paper.
forbidden peanut butter😂
😆
This is why I am scared to experiment with Neem oil.
Just buy from a reputable supplier!!
Bilgilendirme Thanks güzel bilgiler veriyorsunuz efendim UA-cam kanalımdan selamlar 💯🙋 10:16
This just happened to me
It often happens because of the fragrance oil... This is very disapointed!
That Neem, methinks
Yeah I'm sure. The other Neem soap was so nice and no issues at all!
FOrget about sizing ... did you give a look to the color??? 🤣
It's neem soap, it was always going to be khaki brown 😆
It happened to Mee too the batter seized immediately and I too hotprocessed my Lavender butter bar whenever I work with cocobutter I feel like this. Thank you for sharing it was really helpful madam 💖🥰🫂
You're welcome.
