Thank you for an amazing review Kane! What's your opinion for uning them for a forest hikes against trail runners which are much grippier for a gras/mud/sand conditions? Found their design suitable against random branches and stuff, but sure about the outsole.

Those colours on the TX3 are a bit loud, though ... and no subdued options available, sadly. But thanks for the review. Very helpful.

100% would be my first option.
Real question is: why are you using approach shoes as trail runners? If you're just walking in the forest, there is no advantage to approach shoes. They are stiff so you can edge on rock, and so you can jam them in cracks. That makes them worse for walking in. So why wear them?
@@geometerfpv2804 Because I tried them and I like them. I don’t care what they are called. Following your logic trail runners shouldn’t be used for walking.

I use a soldering nail to melt 3 holes in the toe bumper to let water drain. It cuts dry time down significantly
What gaiters the paired with? Fully waterproof on the river crossings etc?
Tx4 is a beast, love it. Gone through a few pairs, favorite shoe.
Have you tried the tx3? If I had to pick one it would be the 3 over 4.
@@KaneDoesOutdoors I haven't tried the tx3. I typically carry two pairs of shoes with me, tx4 and a light trail runner like Bushido2 or Inov8 roclight250. I rarely get the tx4's wet, so maybe that's why I don't see the value in the tx3. Tx4r has been a great upgrade to the tx4, even more durable. The awful colors are unfortunate though.

Question about sizing TX4. My foot length is 28.7cm. The insole length of size 45 is 29.5 cm, and 45.5 is 30vm. What is your experience about fitting this TX4? I know it depends of many things, foot shape and so on. We have to take care of to protect big toe from touching end of the shoes... How much space is there in toe box? Just your thoughts...

With TX4 feel hot in summer hiking? Because of the leather? I am in Asia and the weather is about 20-30 degree.
I think they would be compared to most synthetic breathable shoes. Usually especially if they are leather and Gortex. The TX3 are for a strong shoe for more for summer.
Do you find the sizing and fit to be the same between the TX3 and TX4? I’m wondering because the 4 is available at various stores so are easy to try on to ascertain sizing but the 3 would have to be ordered via their US website (as you suggest). There’s a La Sportiva Canada site but it looks really bogus.
Sizing is identical - that Canadian site sounds sketchy! They even have a warning about bogus sites on the La Sportiva US site.
what size do you take? I have been told to go half a size up but I'm not sure
1/2 size up might be a good idea. They are pretty fitted.
Can it be worn during the multi-day hike of GR20 in Corsica?
I definitely would use them for a long trail like that. By far the best shoe I've owned.
What gators do you use with the TX4s?
The are a knock off of Dirty Girl gaiters called "UltraGam". They work great on the TX3s and TX4s. I got them through GearTrade.ca in Canada.
So for off trail in the winter do you still use these? Or do you go to a high top, boot?
I have a pair pf Salomon gtx boots for winter but most of the time I’m in ski boots. Our snow pack can be several meters deep… not the place for shoes.

I have a pair of hoka shoes and I’m not really a big fan. You feel like a mountain goat in the TXs.
I ordered them directly from La Sportiva USA. Cost a fortune 🤣. Checked every store in Canada and no luck. The big US stores couldn’t ship to Canada because of some kind of brand embargo.
I never considered La Sportiva shoes because of their narrow toe box. But the TX series look like they have a wider toe box. Is that true?
It’s hard to explain, but the toe box is completely different from any other shoe I’ve used. Seems to be wide in right places!

I also struggle with narrow toe boxes but my La Sportiva Wildcat is a wonderful fit in the toes despite looking narrow. So I would agree its wide in the right places.
