IT IS AGAIN AMBASSADOR HAQQUANI...at his best..... his eloquent,concise,...matter of fact presentation is arguably the best assessment of his own country's sorry if not despicable predicament!!. I have always admired his frank & fourth right talk, whenever he talks about INDO-PAK INTERESTS.....PAKISTAN is a 'failed' state in every sense of the term & its increased 'begging bowl' syndrome with AMERICA speaks of the 'uncertainty' of Pakistan as a country...how long can spoon-feeding go on.?..how i wish Mr Haqquani was PRIME MINISTER OF PAKISTAN FOR A WHILE..!! he would have made necessary course correction wherever it was necessary instead of taking on a fanatical approach to instead of solving, ruining things......

The factor that is most noticeable about Pakistan is that ever since its founding its leaders and people visualize it to be entirely devoid of morality, perhaps assuming that geopolitics alone matters and that morality is not relevant in geopolitics. It is approximately true that geopolitics is very far from morality, but it is not true that morality has no geopolitical effects at all. It is also false that geopolitics is all that matters in the creation, existence and progress of a nation and that morality does not matter at all. These are views propagated but not held by Westerners, especially in dealing with Third World people.

It’s western writers , scholars, geopoliticians, politicians , govt officials who have written extensively about no role of morality in politics , not just geopolitics.

It is false to assume that India is not a threat to Pakistan. However the threat was not caused by India but by Pakistan's own unethical actions. Pakistan shows the fears of guilty persons. India is a big threat because it has a big grievance, due to the policy of destruction of life and property carried out by Pakistan against India from day 1 of its existence. India might not remain forever submissive, weak, and indifferent, and might in future seek moral accounting, including revenge and punishment from day 1 of the existence of Pakistan. That is the big threat posed by India against Pakistan.

Ex-Diplomat Haqqani makes a lot of sense with his cogent argument on why Pakistan needs to change its national objectives and try and improve the lot of its people, instead of endlessly harping on the anti-India rhetoric and supporting the Islamic militants within India. The US State department also has its lessons from Amb Haqqani.

Maham Sheikh it was pakistan who sent mujahadeen to Afghanastan in 1973 to subvert king Zaheer Shah and to counter Indias influince. the US had an Embargo against pakistan in the 1980s. you also forget the decade of the 1990s when the taliban flurished, the only way that couldve happened was with pakistani help.

    • @aa2398a
      @aa2398a 9 років тому

Joer Asswwq Zaheer Shah and india were/are enemies. He didnt respect the border and it was him (a puppet) who sent terrorists to Bajaur thinking that the Pashtuns of Pakistan wanted to leave Pakistan to join Afghanistan. That plan back-fired, since Pashtuns of Pakistan (like myself) are nationalistic and rejected Afghanistans dirty game. So youre right - Pakistan did the needful to counter the "king" and his indian masters' games. And we did that quite succesfully - same with the commies who followed (your allies)
the talebs ousted them - and it wasnt just our backing but also the free world....when they left, the world abandoned afghanistan and we were forced to pocket all the expense and costs of that. By '96 and later we only diplomatically recognized them. Majority of Afghanistan supported them, they are an indigenous phenomenon. Even today these talebs - for better (or likely for worse) still have plenty of support there. They dont need anything from Pakistan

Diesel_Nut84 so you admit it, pakistan sent terrorists to overthrow a soverign?pakistan is primarily responsible for the terrorists withing its borders and in afghanastan. it propped them up in 1973 and it did in the later decades.

Personally, I believe that Pakistan should stop crying for US aid, and domestically it should urgently modernize its army and reduce its crazy budget. It is vital that they improve their relation with all of their neighbours, and eradicate domestic radical movements, in order to open to what it really needs, foreign investment capital. A debt reduction is also imperative, which has been rising through the decades at the willingness of dictatorships and non democratically elected governments, who signed for loans and enjoy them at the expense of the hijacked citizens.

The part about the common history with India is of special consideration, not only for pakistanis, but also for Indians. Indoctrination on both countries, by media, army, politicians, of general public against their neighbours is the issue here. Though it is true that the evilisation of the neighbour in order to buff domestic military budget is more existential for the Pakistanis than for their Indian counterparts, ultimately this distorted false patriotism and chauvinism does no good to the people of these nations, who should be ashame of holding the biggest masses of poor people in the world, while feeding such cancerous military colosal dinosaurs.

Why blame India when India has never been the aggressor. You should not mix your words by pairing a terrorist country with a circular democracy. please do not drag India into conversation when discussing pakistan a rogue state. Pakistan is dead as a country and its name will disappear when India makes up its mind.

+Suraj Dip Really not interested in entering into an argument with an irrational hateful nationalist. Indias pursue of nuclear arms (before Pakistan), its conflicts in the south, its conflicts in kashmir, its military budget, its domestic burst of violence between communities, its agents caught in Pakistan,.... No my brother, India is not a peace loving teddy bear.
Regarding your own personal agression, in which you claim that India will end Pakistan the day it makes its mind, putting aside for a second the fact that all neutral reports predicts a stalemate between both countries if theywere to enter total war, lets say tomorow, I'm really not interested in entering into a display of idiocy and hatefulness with you.

+Osman Yousaf you must understand that people of India and Pakistan infact are the people who share the same DNA and were people of same culture and custom for over 32000 years plus. Pakistsn was an unfounded idea for a country by UK and USA to keep USSR at the time. Pakistan divorced itself as a rogue nation on the basis of an arab ideology becoming a terrorist nation. Look at your own scholars talking very loudly about the lies taught in the school and madras's. It is a pity that we got divided by the incompatiable idelogy and by whitemans indoctrination of their style of power over our people. India is the country that had been looted enslaved prostituted and divided. India kept on moving on bearing everything thrown at her by every country. India today has gathered herself and is moving on with a lightening speed not relying on any one. On the other hand pakistan is obsessed with gazwa e hind and has fully consumed by it. Today it has become a begger letting down its population. India knows its enemies in every aspect of its existence. India has become fully aware that its non violence narrative will not save her from the continued onslaught of its enemies relentless pursuit to destroy her . This has given cause to equip herself to stand up for herself. Today Pakistan has no friends and is become a begger and even if India doesnt get involved in anyway Pakistan will disintegrate and probably become a Chonese colony. It is only a matter of time. For Pakistan to survive is to become a true democracy like India and move away from the arab idelogy and terrorism and not be the abdis. Look at what hsppens to the Pakistanis during the Haji and how they are treated and have no respect for them. I am well versed in Koran and Hadith and have been a principal of a muslim high school as well. 60 years is a long time to be in wilderness. Pakistan must accept the truth that all they believe in has only taken them backward and is not going to get better until proper education system is implimented and true history is taught. Stop living on lies of the mullahs. I would like to see things get better for the suffering people of Pakistan.

      Suraj Dip
Regarding common heritage of Indians and Pakistan, I do recognise it, and further expanded, my vision in such manner is much broader than yours, any two persons on earth from two different far given points, travel back on their timeline and you will always find a common root! That's why I stand against all type of nationalisms, thus my hard critique on chauvinism in my original comment (Pakistani and Indian), and that's why I find your current leader, Modi, a disgusting human trash, who plays cheap demagogy in order to gain votes at the expense of human suffering and violence!
You constantly repeat how "Pakistan" begs from the west (clearly you are just aiming to provoke), but as you very well stated, Pakistan was part of India, Pakistan was part of the nation looted by the British, and same way India has been receiving compensation from the west for decades, Pakistan has its own right for it (even more considering that most industry was left on Indian site after partition).
You talk about "arab" ideology as the root of the trouble, well, go and check both nations common history, before the muslims came and centralize governance, India was not really a nation, but many, it was that same "arab ideology" that actually unified India and laid the foundations for what it can potentially become (a future super power), if it learns first to stop fucking around (excuse my language) with its neighbours, and start addressing current and future internal existential issues right away.
The truth is, as you well stated, Pakistan was product of the fear of the west towards communist expansionism. The outcome of Pakistan has been determine by its geography and geopolitical strategic location, and not by its ideology so much. Ideology always comes seconds, is produce after, and not before, the need, in order to justify actions and plans. Religion has often been used as a tool to implement plans, and not as an inspiration for the actual planning!
Per instance, first was recognise the need to create buffer zones between Soviets and India, and then came the ideological excuse in order to "make up" and "justify" decisions.
In the same manner, first came the reality of Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, and thus the recognition of USA to use South American experience type guerilla tactics against them, avoiding direct confrontation, and only after came the "religious fabric" to cover and give form to an already laid strategy.
Wishfully, I must also add that the "geographical" truth of Pakistan, also has the potential to sky-rocket its development, parallel to the one of the region, by the end of the century (but that requires for them to stop "fucking "around with neighbours, and genuinely focus inwards, always ready to further fasten ties with neighbours, but always with their own particular agenda and interest in mind, and not the "Chinese", "Saudi" or "USA", look for common places and interest to cooperate internationally, but not allow foreign interest to overlap domestic interest (note that genuinely honest non-corrupt civil leaders are require for this, and military self-serving interest is an obstacle).
So its not me who actually fails to see the "lies of the mullahs", but it seems to be you the one who fails to see the bigger broader picture at all!
You also, in your bias triggered rage against Pakistan, mention something about Pakistan becoming a Chinese colony. Well, Chinese investment can play both ways, and to which direction it finally goes will to a good extent depend on how Pakistan manages itself. Potentially it can serve to finally integrate all Pakistani provinces into mutually beneficial economic ties, or further break them apart. Nevertheless I find your take on foreign investments hypocritical, to the same extent it could be argue that western firms capital investment on India has made India an economical slave of the west! The differentiation between private or public foreign capital its a long debate in itself, but you resourcing to basic childish clichés, again, just proves your genuine bias and unique purpose of provocation and insult, lacking rational critical reasoning and thinking.
See, I haven't been born or brought up in Pakistan, thus I find it obvious and easy to spot all what is wrong with Pakistan, its media, its mullahs, the general education of its citizens, the outrageous budget of the military, its just that when I encounter Indian chauvinists like you, I can't but feel even more discourage to find out that Indians are suffering the same diseases, though they might know them with other names!
Any how, I was born in a place that has seen destruction levels between neighbours, hate and violence to levels never before reach by humanity, though today they have learn to live in peace, by managing to entangle their economic interests, thus being dependent of peace in order to thrive. So I know that Pak-Indo future can be as bright if they manage to learn and embrace the same principles, but as its obvious that the political will is absent in both countries, its up to its citizens to demand it, and this requires each individual to enter first a self-exploring exercise, armed with critical and abstract thinking, to vision what we really are and what we can become!
But if its true that you were a schools principle, its just logical (and very scary) for me to conclude that that same hate and rancour you share in your comments here, were also transmitted, inculcated and indoctrinated in your students... I like to be optimistic, but the actual future of the region so far seems to suck unless imminent change of direction!
