When I visited Thorp Abbotts some years ago with some friends, I felt distinctly uncomfortable as I was on the staircase in the control tower. I can't explain it, but it was like someone was watching us. That is completely genuine. I am an elderly man, not given to these kind of experiences.
Hauntings are reported at most wartime airfields. Sometimes you feel a special presence even when flyiing over these formet airfields at 1500 feet. Notfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire had a total of 124 wartime airfields. Considering the high losses of aircrew and aircrsft during this period it is not surprising that paranormal events happen on the ground and when flying over these historic disusef airfields.
Apparently hauntings still happen apparently at some airfields you can hear the engine's and wind 🌬️ will all of a sudden wip up from engine's ticking over from B17s R.I.P to all those men that were lost 🤝🤲🙏
An airbase I was stationed at in the early 1980s was supposed to have a ghost inhabiting one of the hangars. The story is the pilot reported for duty, was told to put his gear in the corner, and do his check ride. The plane crashed and his gear stayed in the hangar for years. Personally, I never saw him or heard him...but there were those who did.
