Eric Fleming was Sheriff Wes Dunn in this "Peace Officer" Bonanza Episode (February, 1966). In September of that same year he drowned in the Huallaga River, Peru, after his canoe capsized in a filming scene. Eric starred in Rawhide (1959 -- 1965) as Trail Boss Gil Favor.
When Pernell Roberts left the show he took the wisdom, experience, and charm that his character possessed with him. The show became faded and empty without him. When Dan Blocker died so did the show because he was the heart beat of the entire show.

It emphasizes using the justice system rather than vigilante justice. It's a classic "the Cartwrights take the high road" ending. And as pointed out by a another commentator said, and as a former police officer, I fully agree, that Sheriff Dunn got what was coming to him. He was operating outside if the very system he was sworn to uphold, and even criminals have the right to self defense when a cop decides to be his own judge, jury, and execution.
I’m beginning to get really irritated with these movies. I start out watching one and then it’s switched to another one and I can’t get back to the right one. I wanted to see what happened to that poor shy Horace. He was such a sweet young man. 😢😢😢
Versed was not invented back then. I would delight in slipping the man Versed just to get the truth and put it on record. The lawsuit would hurt a good bit.

I’ve watched this movie once before and I gave it a thumbs down 👎 The newspaper man was fascinated by the idea of how a man felt after killing another man so he sits about making it happen so he could interview the killer. It’s a disgusting 🤢 movie and I wouldn’t advise anyone to watch it
