I want to say thank you to everyone who has been liking and sharing our short film! This project was originally supposed to be a proof of concept to see if we could even pull off an action film. Thanks to all the support we've gotten, we are in the process of getting funding for our part 2 of this series which is going to be much bigger, and action packed. I've already brought on board a screenwriter to help me with this story. And we already have 2 amazing locations locked in for production.
Just a tip - get yourself a good quality stereo microphone and record all voices in their respective rooms and places. It will greatly enhance all your shots because it will allow full immersion. And be more natural. To get a better result practice all lines a few times but record everything at the same time. Because one practice may turn out well by accident and that will be the one you put in the final edit later :D if you are low on time or want to max out your daylight (yes I know how fast the day goes by when you do and focus on the video part only :D :D with no voiceovers) then you can revisit the same or similar places to re-record the audio to have the sound quality and characteristics to that place. Also don't forget to include secondary audio details like cloth movement, footsteps etc... but thanks to editing software you are able to incorporate all that separately and then just mix it in the editor (incl. fade in and fade out like leaving or coming footsteps). You can also keep some parts recorded like you have in this video to add intensity. Like a secondary "outside" monolog or simulating sound proof rooms like a server room or something like that. Trust me if I say that a proper audio part is as important as a good video part. And you have the video part almost spot on. So why not make it perfect :) PS: I say almost only because of the acting part as some members feel a bit too stiff or not exactly "in their role/character" which is absolutely normal :D especially with friends around and little to no acting experience. You can easily fix that by having discussions about who does what and what could be better and improve it right at that place and try the next time you do another video. Some time later you will all become synched and working like a unit where everyone knows what to do and what to look out for the next guy :) I did a similar thing some years back with friends and it was fun to watch our videos and trying to improve. Discussion about tips and tricks went for hours and we all felt like movie stars :D great times and great memories. Wish you all the best of both :) EDIT: I forgot to add you really NEED to include ambient noise. It is a little detail almost unnoticed but it has a huge impact on the overal result. A lot of people won't notice it to an extent to be able to say what they are missing but they will "feel" the missing thing. You can help yourself by adding "fake" ambient sound if the original one is missing or bad for what you need.

Its good. But maybe next time dont be so harsh on the color correction. Its very dark and very high contrast, also try to get your actors a bit smoother with the gun and movement. A bit more natural. Also laserpointers and light are cool but you turn them off without a target cause u can spot them from very far away. If ur guys had nods on the other hand it would be easyer cause then u could use ir lasers that only people with nods could see. Also room clearing guides its important if u wanna display military especially special forces like that. And how to cover corners and stuff
Thank you! I'll definitely tone down the color correction for the next one and in our part 2 we have some professionals coming in to help us with our CQB and CQC tactics. We really want to boost the realism for part 2
@@HFMproductions1 Already looking forward to it. If the work shows as much as in this one it will be some of the best content. Gives me a old days of home UA-cam videos with the boys vibe. I'm here for every second of it. Hope all is going well❤
Honestly we dont know!! But since part 1 is doing really well i think its only right we do a part 2. Depending on how that goes we will continue the series
This is an awesome video. I absolutely love the effort put into graphical designs such as maps, screens, etc. If you'd like some remarks, allow me to share my opinion: - Attention to "tactical detail". Some scenes felt a little flawed in the sense that they were not too believable. For example, at 6:34 the enemy wouldn't simply "stand there", there's a whole room left to clear. The following scene at 6:44 I'm pretty sure you'd shoot the enemy straight away without getting too close. Also, excuse my language but, the enemy clears the room like "an NPC" from video games. I'm sure he'd have a bit of knowledge to check the room smoothly. Also, seeing as they are well equipped, perhaps give the enemy a flashlight (or even a helmet). - 'Realism': the scene where one of them was on the phone (5:00). It's highly unlikely he'd stare at his gun for a full second or two. If anything, he'd quickly glance or remember it was there and grab it without drawing attention. This scene is otherwise awesome though! Another thing, one of the final scenes where Danté packs up some cash in a case. Why would he take the case and a weapon to stand in the middle of the room? If anything, he'd hurry up and flee as soon as possible. It's Reaper team's purpose to flow smoothly enough through the building so they can apprehend him before that happens. (Also, I'm pretty sure an IED like that would've set the entire room ablaze. Perhaps an alternative could be used instead next time?) - Immersion: I felt, personally, as though the characters could be followed better. Specifically how they move, where they move. This gives me, though I'd like to say us the viewers, an idea of the layout. For example, at the end where a flashbang was thrown into the room, I had no idea where the doors were, where the entry was being made from, etc. Here are also some remarks on what I liked and you should keep: - The action was surprisingly good! Try to make it as believable as you can, don't fear overdoing it like shouting "BOMB!" and hurrying. Though overall, everyone did a fairly spectacular job! - The plot was fairly well worked out and nicely executed. You showed the characters' skills, experience, allies, coordination, etc. I'm not a tactical expert in any way, so I can't comment on that part. - Cinematography was pretty good overall, I liked it! Perhaps try adding in some one-takes and choreographing scenes, adds a lot of intensity! At times the lighting could be better (characters weren't too visible during some scenes, which was sort of the point). I am no expert on any of these matters. My opinion is my own, just wanted to share some thoughts and maybe it could help! Feel free to take or leave any piece of it, or ask questions should you have any. I did not mean this in any rude or disrespectful way, sincerely. Thanks a lot for your content!
Thank you!! We will definitely apply your opinions into our part 2 of this series. This project was originally supposed to be a proof of concept to see if we could even pull off a action film. But, with all the support we’ve been getting, I’m working on getting funding for part 2 so we can go even bigger and have scenes way more planned out. We’ve already hired a screenwriter and a new camera crew. We hope to impress everyone with part 2 and I’m very excited to start production soon!!!
@@HFMproductions1 That's great to hear! I'm looking forward to the next part. You guys clearly can make an action film. I'm also glad you're open to advice and suggestions, always a good trait to see. Is there any way that I (or we, the viewers) can support your projects? Like a patreon or something else that may help? I hope that small bits here and there from all around could aid you guys in these future endeavours :)
@@realAlpha-6 Thank you! And we don't have anything active yet. We might start a crowdfunding campaign next month to help with props we will need for our film. We are currently working with a local film studio called New Harvest Creative and they have been providing a bunch of support towards our vision of executing part 2 when it comes to camera and lighting equipment. But, I will make an announcement once we have a campaign up and running! 👍
Hey guys super great amateur production! If you were interested in getting some outside help on some things to bump up the realism, I'd love to go over some stuff with you! Unfortunately, we're in the days of everybody online is an operator and very critical of productions like this, it's not like the good old days of early UA-cam anymore sadly. Keep up the work! I know these take alot of time to make but don't give up, the quality of your guy's stuff is only going to go up from here!
Hell yeah! Thank you! We’re working on getting funding to go even bigger for part 2. We already have 2 locations picked and I have a friend who used to be SWAT that offered to help us with CQB for the next one. I too really want to bump up the realism when it comes to the combat and clearing. And I’d like to reach out to you too. I can let you know when we’re getting closer to production. We’re currently still working on the script 👍🏼
Thank you! For this part 1 there wasn't much time invested into it with it being a proof of concept. We had 1 day of filming that took 10 hrs and about 2 weeks of editing to get it published. But, for part 2 we finally have a budget and I've been working with a screenwriter on the story and I'm planning on storyboarding this time to really help my cinematographer see my vision. Part 2 will have a lot more time invested in it! Also, for the actors and locations, we live in northwest Arkansas so its hard to find professional actors in the area to be in this so I'm just using my best friends which works. I've known them long enough to write dialog around their characters that would be easy for them to act out. For the sets and locations, that's where northwest Arkansas comes in handy. We have some great locations in the area we usually get access to for free and end up looking great on camera.
@@HFMproductions1 very cool. Looked bad ass. Yea there's a cpl of my opinions I'd add but I'm sure you've heard the suggestions already. Lol. Looking forward to the next part.
@@justinmillette8737 thank you! And oh yeah lol we’ve been reading all the comments. That’s also why we’re bringing on a military technical advisor and a props master. Our biggest complaints have been that the weapons looked to unreal and our CQB tactics was horrible. I didn’t even think of that while filming part 1. We’ve been drawing up blueprints with this Marine on how to clear our next location properly. I’m excited for everyone to see it.
@@justinmillette8737 yeah! We're still in preproduction getting the script and props organized. But we're planning on shooting scene 2 next month at an Air & Military Museum and then filming the rest early April at our next location. We have to wait till April to shoot other scenes because the prop master I'm working with is currently working on a movie and won't be off set until March 28th. Part 2 will most likely drop in May or the end of April.
That was really good for a MW style video! I was really surprised to see it was an amateur production. Would be really cool if there were bodycam-style footage!
Thank you!! It’s funny you say that because at our last production meeting we were talking about setting up some body cam/ helmet cam footage for the next one!
Nice !!!!, looking forward to the next one. Who is the female voice explaining the operation details in the beginning. She sounds familiar. Jane Perry ?
Thank you!!! For part 1 we used AI for the voice! Elevenlabs has a text to speech Ai feature we used to generate the female voice for the operation, but for part 2 we got popular voice actress Jen Sweeney to come play our live action “watcher-1” and she’ll be the new voice coming through our headsets 🙌🏼
I used Adobe after effects for the briefing. I found some presets online to help me with that futuristic hologram type look and I used Video Copilots free ORB plug-in for the map of South America.
Thank you! We’ll work on that. I didn’t have anyone to reach out to for help. I work for a film studio as a cinematographer and editor, so the realm of SFX and sound design is something I haven’t dived deep into. But for part 2 we’ve hired someone on board to help us with the sound we’re looking for👍🏼
Wanted to offer some advice to help with the story, tactical realism and the blocking of action shots. Disclaimer, I'm no expert on the topic, just a big nerd lmao. - at 3:15 when he gets grabbed, it could have been easily avoided had he cleared the room. I do understand this was to create a problem for our heroes to solve but it came across a tad contrived. Here's something I thought of that you could have tried instead. The sniper could have been focused one 3 enemies further down the wall, not noticing another enemy on the right who was about to enter behind our reaper. The enemy on the right gets into the building, our operator turns around because he heard a footstep, and just before he can get his rifle up to engage him, the enemy tackles him to the ground. It then cuts back to the snipers view, reporting the 3 enemies outside and him hearing the struggle over the communication equipment. Our operator inside, wins the struggle, plunging the knife into the enemies neck and covering his mouth so he doesn't scream or shout whilst he dies. Then after the shot at 3:36 plays out like normal. You could do all that, or just have I'm jump our operator immediately as he comes through, just before he could check the other corner. - the guy with a gun on the table would never reach that, that was suicide by operator lmao. And what were the operators planning? To just point a gun at him forever? If one of them got closer to remove his pistol from the situation, it could have created a brief opportunity for our enemy to reach for it and attempt to kill one of our guys. - happens in movies all the time, but there were so many corners that were just walked past unchecked. There are so many times that our heroes could have been shot in the back. Good room clearing both looks great, and is good attention to detail. - the shot at 6:34 confused me. I thought he was trying to be sneaky and go up to take the man down with a knife. But in reality, since he still discharged his firearm indoors, it was pretty pointless to do the takedown. The takedown was cool, but pointless. The takedown after at 6:44 was actually pretty good, people will say 'he could have just shot him', but the guy turned around and our operator didn't want to potentially get the gun pointed at him, especially since its a shotgun, the shot looked great though, simple, clean takedown that didn't seem contrived. - finally the plot, seems VERY familiar. It almost seems like its the plot of the MW3 campaign. That name, Watcher, seems familiar also, almost seems like that's the callsign for Laswell in Modern Warfare. That operator wearing a skull mask, he seems familiar too, almost like it could be ghost from Modern Warfare. All jokes aside, I get that you are inspired, it just seems to be copying a lot, I hope you switch it up a bunch in part 2, I saw that you got a new screenwriter and camera crew, that's great, just get your moneys worth with them. Introduce some new, more unique characters, twist the story to make it its own thing. Seriously, this was a good proof of concept, now turn Operation Thanatos into something to remember, not 'that one call of duty fan film'. I hope I said something other people haven't. Good video regardless of my nit-picks, keep it up.
Thank you!!! Man, I can’t express enough how much we’re going to improve for part 2! I love the idea of new interesting characters. Without spoiling too much we have two new operators joining the reaper team and we have a popular voice actress going to play our live action watcher 1 besides just a voice over the headset. We have a really interesting scene with her for the opener to draw people in. And I know our skull mask operator does pull a lot of similarities with ghost from call of duty lol, but we really like the idea of the skull mask with the team being called reaper and Thanatos pretty much represents death. We didn’t portray the character well in part 1 but we’re giving him some backstory as in why he wears the mask and why he’s a force to reckoned with. We have some pretty badass scenes planned with him. Also, my new director of photography has been in the film industry for over 50 years and has been providing some amazing tips too for how we’re going to pull all this off. Honestly, we didn’t expect to get this many views so we really don’t want to disappoint when comes to part 2 so we’re going all out for this one.
With all due respect, but if you're going to film a action movie with a tactical squad doing cqb you should inform yourself about those tactical movements. 30 sec. Into the movie i am already " damn you guys, you're making one big mistake after another!" And that is more then just frustrating.

Hope all is going well❤
god damn this is amazing
giving me scp overlord vibes lmao
cant wait to see more of your content :)
awesome production guys.
I cannot wait for Part 2, this is great!
Pt 2 coming soon
One of my RoN stack member's recommended this to me, thank you, lookin forward to part 2.

Nice work!! Subbed for the next part!👍
Thank you!
Nice waiting for part 2
How many parts for this video? It’s thrilling and amazing.
Honestly we dont know!! But since part 1 is doing really well i think its only right we do a part 2. Depending on how that goes we will continue the series
This is an awesome video. I absolutely love the effort put into graphical designs such as maps, screens, etc. If you'd like some remarks, allow me to share my opinion:
- Attention to "tactical detail".
Perhaps an alternative could be used instead next time?)
- Immersion: I felt, personally, as though the characters could be followed better. Specifically how they move, where they move. This gives me, though I'd like to say us the viewers, an idea of the layout. For example, at the end where a flashbang was thrown into the room, I had no idea where the doors were, where the entry was being made from, etc.
Here are also some remarks on what I liked and you should keep:
- The action was surprisingly good!
@@HFMproductions1 yeah no problem man. Looking forward to Part 2!
this remembers me of the good old nerf war videos. such a good time
This is what the next ghost recon should be like
Fire asf, Leggo!
It is a good first attempt. I'm sure many people will provide critique and suggestions for you. I enjoyed it though.
It looks cool man. How much time do you have invested in a project like this? With the casting and sets involved.
@@HFMproductions1 sounds awesome. Yea a little tweaking here and there and you're good to go. So a month or so atleast until the next one drops?
@@HFMproductions1 Wow !!! that was AI? I would have never guessed. Excellent ! Appreciate the quick response and thank you again.
I think it is very accurate for the times we live in, South America is full of that realism.
Buen cortometraje tiene potencial para una pelicula 👍😃
Masterwork 🤩
Super cool
Amazing
How did you do the briefing?
I used Adobe after effects for the briefing. I found some presets online to help me with that futuristic hologram type look and I used Video Copilots free ORB plug-in for the map of South America.
@@HFMproductions1 Thank you for the info, keep up the good work btw.
Where can I watch this
Hella fun watch. The double reload made my ass pucker a little though lmao… what if someone walked around the corner right then!?
Pretty good, but the SFX and voice acting was a little janky.
Thank you! We’ll work on that. I didn’t have anyone to reach out to for help. I work for a film studio as a cinematographer and editor, so the realm of SFX and sound design is something I haven’t dived deep into. But for part 2 we’ve hired someone on board to help us with the sound we’re looking for👍🏼
nice gun sound effect
Couple technical issues, but otherwise this is very cool
And tactical issues
Cool project, a bit cliche dialog and acting but regardless, great job to all involved!
@@HFMproductions1 Alright man, I cant wait to see where this goes!
@@HFMproductions1 For room clearing you could look at SCP overlord they do a pretty good job also just some military explanations on room clearing.
Good stuff

With all due respect, but if you're going to film a action movie with a tactical squad doing cqb you should inform yourself about those tactical movements. 30 sec. Into the movie i am already " damn you guys, you're making one big mistake after another!" And that is more then just frustrating.
I completely agree with you! This project was originally intended to be a proof of concept and we were not expecting this many views, but because of all the support we’ve been getting, we are making a part 2 and this time we have proper funding and we’re bringing in a screenwriter for a better story and a professional to help teach me and my crew proper CQC and CQB tactics. We hope to impress everyone on Part 2.
