It's definitely real but it does make me laugh when people go on about it like it's a fatal disease and use words like heart breaking loll eh calm down you averaged 60 before your heart breaking illness

Wow so glad this popped up on my timeline, I am currently not playing the game I love because of dartitis, I had a quarter final in my local men’s club and the pressure I put on myself has really got in my head. I can’t physically straighten my arm properly to release the dart and it’s so frustrating, I know I can but I just can’t. I can release the dart but just not the way I know I can and should be doing. I love the game and don’t want to give up, I’ll keep trying to overcome it but it’s an awful thing to have 🎯

Great doc. I’d argue that everybody lacks confidence deep down, Bristow or otherwise. The fact that cocky people are actually self conscious shouldn’t be a shock to anybody

I’ve had it a year now, got gradually worse but in the last few months I’ve been able to get the darts out of my hands and hit targets again. The worst experience I had was playing in a local league and other people laughing at me not understanding what I had. That and losing to people that a few months previous id beat with 2 darts. Great video, hopefully hearing from what Beau had to say I might get going again to a level where I can enjoy playing again.

I had it in the 1980s I gave up darts for years . I started playing again now and it has seemed to be ok now. I couldn’t let the dart go. Horrible thing.

Really well done and congratulations for highlighting this issue. The body mind mechanism has a variety of ways to protect itself from ‘self harm’. Thank you. The psychology of dartitis is not limited to darts!

When i had it. My Sister was always saying "its all in your head, just let it go" i always replied "Its NOT that simple." People who's never had it, just can't understand it.
I beat mine by changing my grip and exercising my arm. I concentrated on my doing reverse curls, working my Brachioradialis Muscle. Because that's where the initial movement comes from when you're throwing.
Dont know if it's a real cure or just cured me because it gave me confidence. But I hope it can help others too.

I've had dartitis for 30 years, and I only played in a local pub mixed darts league. But I had to quit, not because I had dartitis, because like most people with the condition they step forward when then throw, and a lot of people accused me of cheating by stepping over the oche.

I had no idea Beau had dartitis. I have always wondered why she doesn't want to play on the tour...she is clearly good enough so maybe this is part of the reason. Very interesting vid.

I watched this when it was first posted and enjoyed watching it again. It's always an interesting subject. As Beau said, some people don't like to even talk about it and I've know a few people that have gone through it and have come out the other side and I know people that still battle it, but still turn up and work through it to continue to improve. Great video mate, it would be nice if a documentary made it onto TV about this, now that the sport has grown even more this year 👍🏼🎯

Horrible thing to have.. sometimes I can play great and have no problems and sometimes I am absolute rubbish because I can't let go of the darts..needs to be more research into this condition imo..great little documentary 👍👍
