one hand on the wheel, one on the walkie talkie, coaching someone, and still driving faster than an experienced driver. professional race drivers are seriously another breed
My favourite thing about this is the fact that you can see everyone absolutely loving their time doing this. Genuine reactions all the way! Top work Henry! 💪
If anyone can drive a Vette to the limit its Ollie Gavin. Henry couldn't have a better teacher. I've watched Ollie for years and his record speaks for itself. He's just brilliant. Thanks guys.
Great video as always Henry & Team. It would be very interested to see similar types of videos with different types of motorsport i.e. Rally, Offroading, drifting, etc to see the different techniques each type of driving requires and how they compare to each other.
Lovely. I love that inside our favourite auto journalist, with years of experience and after all the cars, tracks, fabulous roads... there's an overexcited twelve year old boy that pops out 😊♥️
I really enjoyed this video. Would love to see more of these. A series of a whole course with a few videos and getting to see your experience through it.
Tiny tiny thing but awesome to give Dave Ryding a shout out! I raced for 10 years when he was coming through the ranks. He is a really top bloke. P.s most ski racers are massive petrolheads.
The sound quality is amazing authentic and always very boutique content with such aplied introspective styles. Thank-you so much to whomever it is behind the camas well 🤙
He was one of my instructors on a Formula Palmer Audi day at Bedford Autodrome back in 1999! Top guy and really encouraged me in a Honda Integra Type R. He was the F1 safety car driver back then, too!
A great friend to have! I once got one to one coaching from Gordon Shedden. Before he became a multiple BTCC champion. I'd been for a track experience day and he took us out in a group, but when I returned for another experience I asked if I could get him to instruct me. He was superb, but I could see how talented he was as a driver. We also had Anthony Reid giving demonstration laps and I can't tell you how much I learned from him too.
Awesome video, I think you acquitted yourself pretty well considering your up against an ex Corvette factory driver, and multiple Le Mans winner.. Looking forward to the next instalment
Great Video Henry 👍Thank you for sharing.. I Just experienced a similar day with a friend who was an ex racing driver same comment I needed to get back on the throttle quicker. Keep the car balanced..
Fabulous video. I've done some advanced driver training in the past and my tutors will tell you i'm still crap, but I'd love to do that one. Perhaps you and Ollie can organise a competition for a YT viewer to win a day with him? ;-)
Ahhh Yes my Friend Mr Gavin.... Talented Racing Driver...... Next time you talk to him... Can you ask him if he remembers DESTROYING a F 3000 car during qualifying for the Race at Pau back in the early 90`s!!!!! Please let him know that I remember having to physically carry the Tub up some stairs to get it out of the paddock!!!!!!! He is a real gent though.... Always smiling.... Cheers Olly from your ex Trucky... :-)))
Ok which one of you farted 10:55? Don't try and pass it off as a squeaky shoe or something else. I know what I heard!! Great video Henry and awesome driving. I always get satisfaction from knowing the automotive journalist behind the wheel is an actual gear head or legitimate driver and not some pretty boy that was stuck behind the wheel. In the US we have tons of car shows on TV and I am always surprised when the on screen personality knows f--- all about cars. It's almost like the "eye candy" networks put on the sideline of sporting events. I am always annoyed when the cut to them because they never offer ANYTHING of substance to the broadcast and are pointless.
Wonderful. Too bad the Driving Experience web page when booking says "The page is gone. It seems like you are looking for something that doesn't exist anymore". It would be better it if said "Sold out" or "Cancelled" if that's the case. In another instance, the travel experience, I'm just shown "Return to homepage." Oh well.
I do like these Corvettes…UK price for a top spec should be £82-87k which I think is a performance bargain for something with a NA V8. Considering a Nissan GT-R now costs upwards of £83k new and is essentially a 13 year old model in the UK…the Vette is very tempting 😎
im surprised some of the advice wasn't to keep your eyes up and look through the turn. that's how you complete a wet skidpad.. when your slide is too short, it's because your eyes are down and you're not looking through the course.
The Euro spec C8 Stingray has 19 less BHP and 18 less ft.lbs then the stated 495 and 470, but maybe these are US spec cars ? 0-100 Km/h should be 3.5 seconds with the US spec C8 Stingray Z51.
No matter how fast or experienced you are, nothing can beat 1:1 coaching from a real professional racing driver. These people already have a decade plus of real racing under their belt before they hit their 20s.
how tall is Gavin?! He appears to be even taller than the already stretched-out Henry Catchpole. The OGDA looks like a great experience. I'd be sorely tempted, if I had any money.
Performance Training at Boxberg with Oliver starts at around 1700 Euros. But Henry should consider doing the 2 day track training at Anneau du Rhin (France) with Oliver (costs around 3000 € - including hotel, dinner and catering).
why doesn't henry wear a jacket in freezing cold weather? is this a British thing? he's always acting like it's Charles Dickens underdress orphan "Please Sir may i have warm clothing for this video i'm shooting?"
It was your fault! You didn’t turn it all off😂 It’s actually harder than it seems I found out at Porsche Driving Experience Precision (lvl 1) and Performance (lvl 2). Everybody should do such advanced drivers training courses
Corvette in the US..... Claim the BASE MODEL. The 60 000 dollar base model. Straight off the showroom floor, will do 0-60 in 2.9 or even lower. But in reality you are closer to 3.8 or even 4.2. The best I have seen any European car journalist do it, is 3.6 And that was with the Z51 full specc. American numbers are just unrealistic lies.
i own a C8 Z51 and get sub 3 on street. I also did a similar school in the states (Ron Fellows Spring Mountain) and was doing 3.2 in Las Vegas heat, so its definitely possible. Dunno maybe just bad track conditions that day for them.
i don't for the life of me, understand WHY you don't talk about how you can go faster at that transition where you're losing time? that's the WHOLE point of getting some feedback from him.
Interesting video, but one thing puzzles me - why the Corvette C8? Yes, it's a good car and well balanced etc... but the main reason for questioning is the squared off steering wheel - not ideal for finessing the finer points of drifting or track work, surely?! Surely something like an M2/M3 or even an Alpine A110 might have been better suited... Anyways, that's by the by. Would be great to see you going through training for a racing license Henry!
It's a American car so it's made for roads where you can't drive fast anyways . Where the police don't do fack all about real crime because they're to busy handing out traffic fines . And at least a 3rd of of the population acts like Karen's on the road . I'm pretty sure the keep right except to pass rule is the most broken rule in the country , and rolling road blocks are the norm .

I’ve got a lot of time for OG. He had a great career with lots of success and I’d love him to give me some coaching….. looks like a fun day out but I am with you about constructive criticism , if you really want to improve you need a pro driver to sort you out.

Absolute legend. Guy is just so blase about driving. What a beast.

My guy, pedaling one-handed, telling Henry a bedtime story over the radio. Legend.
That was fantastic - well done Henry (the vette looked good also)
Ollie was out for a Sunday drive while us meet mortals are riding at the edge. Love it
I'm impressed with the gearbox when Oliver was driving one handed it knew when to change down or up precisely
I really enjoyed this video. Would love to see more of these. A series of a whole course with a few videos and getting to see your experience through it.
I loved when Ollie said "you're a very good driver" Henry looked like an anime character like 🥰 AWWW. Great content, more of this please!
Great video, I love doing training like this, so much gained from getting pushed by professionals!

He should use a wheel mounted push to talk button lol. What a boss.

Nice soft hands Henry. Next most important thing after the eyes.
A square steering wheel and black wheels…steering wheels should be round and wheels should be silver grey (or gold)!
