    So pretty much if you’re on the east coast of the North island as soon as you feel heavy shaking, leave, as a tsunami will be along very very quickly

      yeah pretty much. if you're near ANY coastline and you feel strong or lengthy shaking, hit the bricks

    Given how fast earthquakes can be located and this information put on-line, it might pay to check the location before jamming up damaged roads and bridges with people trying to evacuate (and all the accidents that will occur), when it might be an onshore quake with no tsunami risk.

    The tsunami would probably exceed 30 meters in some places. What this simulation doesn’t add in is underwater landslides and pop up faulting that will likely occur.

    • @Sujowi
      @Sujowi 19 днів тому

      Regular tremors are good as its gradual release of pressure. What we don’t want is for it all to go quiet. We had a few last week which just oiled the works.

    its a sad truth that when it does happen there will only be some 10-15mins for any wave to hit the coast, and what size this will be could be similar to Japan
    could be 2m could be 20m but still real, its not if but when, the risk will start at anything above 6.5 and less than 10km depth, the deeper the safer
