Installing Seismometers in the Mojave Desert | UT Austin

This footage documents the setup for deploying seismic sensors in the Mojave Desert for the Broadband Seismic Experiment. The data harvested from these sensors will be used to study the fault systems within the Eastern California Shear Zone, and it further shows how high-quality data can be collected using lighter, portable instruments. The project is led by post-doc Rob Porritt and Professor Thorsten Becker at the University of Texas Institute of Geophysics.
