Nice purchases! Your going to want too pair the new Aldebaran with a rod a little lighter action than the Doybns. The Aldebaran performs best with lure weights around 5 grams and under. The Doybns is more of a bass rod. If you can locate a Yamaga blue current rod you will be pleased. The rod will match the Aldebaran and allow you to cast some lighter lures. The finetail rods are nice stream rods and would work well with the Silver Creek. Good luck on the water with the new toys! It's an addiction lol
Appreciate the info - exactly why I'm putting it on the lightweight glass rod to start. Then I'll probably test it on the benkei or Kuying Teton I have. And yeah - it is an addiction!
Nice combos. I dont really BFS but I love ultralight and light spinning rod and reels. I have a majorcraft 7'2" light spinning that i use for bass. Fun rod to catch largemouths and spotted bass on.
Love your vids mate ,always very well presented with a bit of fun thrown in.Love it! One thing Ive noticed with a few BFS UA-camrs is they show reviews etc of CDM reels but ultimately when they start doing more and more fishing vids they always end up using the JDM Shimmys and Daiwas. Ive got a few CDM and to be honest could of bought at least one JDM with all the money Ive spent on rods etc.The one CDM i am totally impressed with is the Kyorim bullet cast or also sold as the GAWAS bullet cast, not sure if you can still get it.I have added a 7.3 gram spool to it. Although the standard micro spool works well mid /upper bfs. Cheers.
Completely understood - I do have a couple more CDM reels on the way - but I could see myself having a stable of Aldebarans and being happy! Daiwa not so much....
Just ordered an Alphas SVTW from Digitaka, reel feels great but is PACKED with grease. Barely rotated when you spin the handle, with brakes on zero and tension backed off. Just something to check, a good bearing flush might have you casting further.
Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out - as currently the AATW is my least favorite reel! The Aldebaran though, wow, am I impressed so far! Finally getting the Silver Creek out tomorrow to chase some trout.
I got a Shimano poison adrena paired with aldebaran bfs, my mate got the daiwa steez machineguncast paired with the silver creek. hahahahah it’s game on
Been using mostly Kingdom MicroFly and Varivas - both braids. about 7# to 9# on most of them, then a 6# fluoro leader. I have another combo that just arrived - line is backordered, so probably going to give Daiwa J-braid a try.
sounds like you're near me by the name - would love to get one of my heavier BFS set-ups out for some pike if you're into those toothy guys as well. :)
South Hills. Hit a new section of the Yough yesterday. 🦨 Did have one on, but it spit the hook before I could land it... Might make that a "reverse tips" video.... 😬
I enjoy fishing just below Ohio Pyle. The water is wild in that stretch but there are some giants to be had. Wading in that area takes some real caution. Looks like your not far away then. If you ever have any questions feel free to ask me. I've been playing with BFS equipment for many years and have lots of toys to compare and contrast.
Yes they do. I may have to try it, but it's at least $100 more than the Major Craft. And this was already the pricest of the setups I plan on trying out this spring. Maybe in the fall I'll try out some of the "next level" BFS options once I have a baseline for what I like. 👍
That hasn't been my experience. 2 Major Craft rods purchased this year from Japan, both in cardboard. Very strong and sturdy, no worries about getting damaged. Probably depends on where you order them from. But metal seems like it would be heavier, more expensive, and more of a waste of resources. But everyone has to run their business their way I guess.

Thanks. I used almost all light and ultralight gear last year, so I decided to give BFS a try - and I'm hooked! Thanks for watching - and the comment!

Nice! I have the silver creek custom reel but havent use it yet but trout season is just around the corner.
Very nice. I'll test it on the water in the next week or two for sure, fishing for either smallies or trout.

Sounds like a couple nice combos. Enjoy!
What brands of line and lb test lines do you run on those baitcasters for trout? Do you use, mono, braid...etc?
Thanks

What part of PA are you from? I live around Indiana PA. I heard you mention the Youghiogheny. One of my favorite places to fish.

@@arcuriotv6894 Sounds good. Maybe we could meet up and hit some local waters together too.
@@AaronHuntFishing That would be fun.
Daiwa makes a silver creek glass rod to go with the silver creek reel.
