The Cloven Hooves - Creeping Death (1969)

It's 1969, and while fellow Brummies Judas Priest and Black Sabbath were still developing their sound, The Cloven Hooves would release their first (and only) single, Creeping Death. As the flower power era was losing momentum, the band strived for an edgier sound. It's that sound that encouraged a young group of thrashers called Metallica to rework the song 15 years later, with a fresh and much heavier sound. It has since gone on to be a highlight of their live performances.
Edit: Dave Mustaine has since gone on to claim that he wrote this song.

I actually prefer this version. Hetfield's vocal style is not my cup of tea at all so it's nice to hear these lyrics sung in a way that is not only more pleasing to my ears but also really brings out their dumbness, written as they were by the band's keyboard player Keith 'Jam' Bowrie during his breaks at Sunday school (you may have noticed how the organ is almost entirely mixed out on account of Bowrie reportedly being even a worse organ player than he was a songwriter, although no records remain to verify this claim because of his contributions consistently being edited out of every recording he was involved in during his 3 decades long carreer which included failing an audition for WIngs).
