Hey everyone! 👋 I just realized I forgot to mention tents in the ‘Gear Essentials’ section. For beginners, I recommend a lightweight, freestanding tent like the Big Agnes Copper Spur or the NEMO Dagger. Both are easy to set up and work well in most conditions. 🏕️ What’s your go-to tent for backpacking? Let me know in the comments below!
Lots of good stuff here. I think when we start out, we have somewhat unrealistic expectations. That 5-8 mile is perfect! So much stuff in this video you could do a full video on each section of this video. Go to tent is a Nemo Hornet Elite or a Zpacks Plex Solo.👍👍👍
Appreciate it! Yeah, starting out, it’s easy to overestimate what you can handle-5-8 miles is a pretty solid range. I’ve thought about breaking this stuff into separate videos, so that might be in the works. Love the tent choices too-both are killer setups!
Love the videos. Currently I'm using a Featherstone UL Obsidian 1P from Amazon. It's a good tent but it's over three pounds. I'm hoping to invest in a Gossamer Gear "The One" one of these days.
Thanks for watching and for the kind words! The Featherstone UL Obsidian is a solid choice for beginners, but I totally get wanting to lighten up. I’ve heard great things about the Gossamer Gear ‘The One’-it’s definitely a popular option for ultralight backpackers. Let me know if you make the switch someday; I’d love to hear how it compares for you!

Can't forget protection either.
Safety is definitely important on the trail!
Love the videos.
