For our benchmarks we used the latest retail (not Nvidia provided builds) which is why you may see our numbers being lower in certain titles than you may see with other reviewers. Feel free to see the data (it's across multiple runs and averaged) in the link in the description if you want to dive in. And we will provide screenshots of the summaries if validation feels necessary. As to why we used the Core Ultra vs 9800x3D, getting enough 9800x3D's wasn't possible AND it's okay to show differences from other outlets.
Shocking that a 80 series card does not beat last gen's flagship. I was thinking about going from the 4090 to the 5080 (before it was revealed). This will be the first gen i skip since the 600 series.
I live in Vietnam and was going to build a new PC in the coming months, but with so many average recommendations, I decided to ship my 4 yo computer which cost me $3,500 US and had it professionally built. I really only play cod mw2 + battlefield this year when it comes out. So I'll wait till next year to see what happens. Thanks again for your time and expertise
I have a 4070 super. Game on a 1440 ultrawide. Play mostly sinlgeplayer blackmyth, final fantasy, horizon etc. Will this make my games run/ look better "ultra settings" or should i go for 5090
@@Eskoxo new to pc gaming. Is that a bad idea? Is the improvement too minor to warrant upgrade? Cause not rich just want me and my girl to have good gaming experience. I have 4070 super. She has 4060.
@@lordsnow1411 if you were on 30 series id say maybe go for it but 40 does not make much sense especially since 50 series is very marginal improvement... id stay on what you have till next gen.
This seems very similar to the thought of when the 4080 came out of it being fine but not the jump expected from the prior gen, at least at this point in time. Wasn’t planning on upgrading from my 3080ti but the reviews so far wouldn’t incentivize me to anyway.
Even if the 5080 was expected to be stronger compared to the 4000 series I was goin to buy one any way (I have a 1070 Ti) but the pricing on this in my contries is insane. Not a chance.
Those on 40 class cards shouldn’t even upgrade to this till the next 60 class tbh lol 5% uplift in some games is wild unless you use DLSS4 with frame gen
So I know the 4080 and now the 5080 are poor value to performance but my question is for someone like me who don't care about using my pc for all the extra content creation, rendering etc just gaming at 4k mostly fps games like COD, is the 5080 or even if prices drop the 4080 something that will give really good frame rates at 4k with RT on?
Nice video. Thanks for that! Well. I had a 4080 Super but sold it (with some win) one month ago, waiting for the 5080/5090. And I'm happy that I did so. I hope I can get today a 5080, as for me, it looks like it was worth to replace my 4080S. As said for my myself 😊 PS. I will see how it works with my UWQHD 175Hz monitor, and maybe replace it by an 4k monitor, but I don't think I will do so.
@ still 2 hours to decide🤣 I am going to buy it I think want to start gaming again. Its not a bad card probably but I am little bit disappointed because it is not that big of a jump from the previous gen.
i plan on grabbing this for 1440p and replacing my 4090. yea yea yea lost in raster but im highly interested in the 4X frame gen for my 480Hz monitor. plus resale of 4090 surpasses the cost
Don’t forget 40-series gpus will get updated 2x frame gen. Based on the latency analysis, 4x frame gen may be a bridge too far..until the reflex tech can bridge the gap.
I currently have a 3060 Ti on an MSI MPG X870E Carbon WiFi with a 9800 X3D, 32 GB of CL30 DDR5 RAM, and I am considering getting either a 4080 Super or the 5080. prices still haven't came out in Australia for the 5080 so it's hard to compare them to the 4080 super but the 4080 Super I was thinking about getting is $1868 atm without even knowing the price I'm sure the 5080 is going be alot more then that but I'm not 100% sure any recommandations ?
Forget a 4080 ti. This is a 4080 t. Doesn't even get an I. I'm on a 10 year old card and want to get back into PC games and said I would get a 5080 as long as it was decent. Now I don't know what to do. What should someone with a high budget but not 5090 level high do?
If you are looking at this as a huge step up from the RTX 4080 .. you are simply delusional. The days of significant upgrades from one generation to the next .. are long gone. With lithigraphy processes now in the 3 to 5 nanometers range ... you are just not going to see those huge generation updates anymore. This is the NEW NORMAL. But the good news is that you don't need to upgrade your 4080 Super right now. You still get 2X frame generation along with the performance and quality improvements with DLSS4. If you are on and older RTX 3000 or RTX 2000 series GPU, then the RTX 5080 would be a HUGE upgrade.
not even 20 perc better than the 4080 and is only 10 perc better than 7900xtx sometimes nah not good enough nvidia also 16gb is just not cutting it for $1000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure I would full recommend this one for 4K, still think 1440p for the 5080 is the play. Just because the features are way more useful (like MFG) given the base render rate.
I just don't think the card is SUPER in the safe 4K range but we are testing that over the next few months to make a final recommendation. You can always adjust settings to make it work for sure, and easily but you may not always be able to max out settings.
i'm glad you didn't use the 9800x3d for a couple reasons, You can't buy it unless you do from scalpers and everyone else did so.....Most people will want a 14900k over the 9800x3d that buy the 5090 for Ai or any 3d rendering ect as it is MUCH better at those things vs someone who just games.
The 9800 X3D is widely available in Australia, and for those looking for a CPU suited for 3D rendering and AI, the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X is a recommended choice. Great to see a variety of benchmarks with Intel CPUs while other reviewers only use AMD!
Actually ended up being a good thing we couldn't get enough CPUs at the time :)
Based on the issues he outlined at the start of the video, it seems there may be a good reason to use AMD CPU's...

Ty for the reply
why on earth would you upgrade 1 gen old gpu....

30 series to 50 series is actually a big jump. But again if your games don’t require it, then it isn’t needed.
Thank you very much for your time and expertise. Finally, somebody getting away from the 5090 and reviewing the 5080 which may be available
Nvidia only allowed reviews up today. Or else there would be way more. The 5090 reviews were out a week earlier.

Soo in Summary, I play ULTRA settings on my RTX3090 (w/24GB). If I spend $1000 for an RTX5080, I can play ULTRA settings on my RTX5080...

It’s a bigger upgrade for sure, for AAA titles and cinematic games at 4K with RT, yes. For MP maybe not. It depends on your game.
