    Fortified churches in Prejmer, Viscri , Haman and more, fortresses in Brasov (closed atm so you won't even find it unless you are looking), Rasnov (a cave in that town too), Fagaras, Rupea. Rebuilt fortification in Feldioara.
    interesting lake in Racos plus some basalt columns and a small castle. Ski resort 12km from Brasov or much closer on foot. Sinca Veche monastery and maybe Sambata monastery. Oldest church in Brasov is St Bartolomeu. Dambovicioara cave could be an objective too. If you go to Peles, castle go inside, it's the best part.
    Landscapes, hikes, a couple of waterfalls, all that is another long list.

    • @JordanandEmily
      @JordanandEmily  2 роки тому +2

      Super long list! We didn't have long enough in the region to see much of the list 😞 we are already making plans to come back next year to do the bits we missed of transylvania and also head more east and see what's around there! Already excited!

    • @realjx313
      @realjx313 2 роки тому +2

      @@JordanandEmily Yeah Brasov county has a lot of objectives.
      If you are making plans for another trip, look for a list of world heritage sites, wiki has one and it's one way to start planning.
      And if you are into real hikes, Romania is one third mountains, one third hills so you can easily spend weeks or months just on that. Close to Brasov the Bucegi mountains with plenty of objectives (Malaesti, Omu, Babele and plenty more), Piatra Craiului Mountains, Ciucas Mountains. Other popular mountains in Romania would Fagaras Mountains, Retezat, Apuseni, Rodnei, Ceahlaul. and so on.
      Anyway, when planning do check out Maramures, Bucovina, Danuve Delta. The seaside is mostly kinda too normal and boring nowadays, except Vama Veche but that's niche.
      Village life is also worth experiencing as the traditional lifestyle is better preserved than in most places - usually people would do that in Transylvania or Maramures or even Bucovina.
      You can also plan the timing around a big festival if you are into that, like Untold or Neversea.
      Anyway, have fun!

    Vlad the Impaler (or Impaler Lord) was his nickname given by the Turks and Transylvanian Saxons. His real name was Vlad III Dracula. He himself signed two letters as Vlad III Drakulya. He never signed his documents as Vlad the Impaler or Vlad Tepes. Also, Bram Stoker based the character of count Dracula on the real guy because in the book, Dracula says to Jonathan Harker something like, "the blood of the Impaler Lord, the Wallachian warrior who fought the Turks, runs through my veins"

    6:30 its false.. actually bram stokers novel actually takes place in transilvaya, the black wolf, the bat, the garlic, the blood sucking monsters which need to have their heart impailed before burrying.. all of this is local animals and romanian folklore legends.. and bram stoker knew about that and created the novel
    Also Dracula is a romanian word of Dracul which means devil
    Also bram stoker inspired from a postcard about the castle.. and it resembles the one in the book with its placement on the hill coming out of the rocks.. with the flat face full of little windows and very sharp and high towers..
    so its not a made up gimmick!! everything is real about it!!!

      This is a bit midleading. The king of Hungary never really created the states of Wallachia and Moldova.
      The king of Hungary did, indeed, offer to the Kinghts Hospitaller the Banate of Severin and Cumania but with the exception of the land of the kenezate of Voievode Litovoi. There were also the kenezate of Farcas and Seneslau (basically almost the entirety of future Wallachia) which were never truly given to the Knights.
      Wallachia proper was formed after the Battle of Posada by Basarab I after his rebellion against the King of Hungary.
      The rest is correct. All the love and respect to the maghiars and hungarians.

    7:10 Vlad the Impaler is a national hero and he's not been "into torture" as you put it. Now, I will excuse your ignorance because you've not lived here, nor are you interested in Romania's history to be able to know the truth, but I'll fill you in on a few truths. Romania has battled the Ottoman empire for nearly 500 years and many times, while we've been under the Ottoman rule we have had kids abducted from our country to be turned into Janissaries (infantry soldiers) for the Ottoman empire, and one of those kids had been Vlad, the nephew of one of Romania's greatest rulers, Mircea cel Batran (Mircea the Elder) and while in Constantinople (the capital city of the Ottoman empire, currently Istanbul) Vlad had witnesses live impalings of the enemies of the Ottomans. When he grew up and returned to Romania the wrong-doing and corruption were running rampant in this country, the wrong-doers and criminals had not feared any law because there wasn't anyone in this country to teach them a lesson, they were pillaging and ransacking the properties of the common folk so something had to be done. And when Vlad had taken the reign of the country he had - rightfully so - chosen impaling as punishment method for the criminals because brutality was the only thing that could strike fear into criminals. Vlad, as an intelligent and cultured ruler, had not really been a fan of such methods but like I said, it was pretty much the only way to teach criminals a lesson in those times (600-ish years ago). And his method worked because in less than 2-3 short years the people behaved so well that - as word of mouth goes - "you could leave a golden chalice on your porch, or in the middle of the street and nobody would touch it while Vlad ruled". That kind of fear our great hero Vlad had instilled into those thieves and murderers, and I'd argue that even today, over 90% of the world's politicians need a similar punishment :)
