I'm sorry you won't be able to share the experience with your kids this time around... But I'm sure the memories you'll create for yourself, though different, will be just as special.

Prior to CM triathlons, videography, DJ company, dance competitions, and water sports had been full-time obsessions. Always had a night job and day time career. Mother was a stage director and we never liked to act even though we became very good. The two things that changed after 13 seasons were more surfing less windsurfing, and I could make anything I wanted to eat anytime. The decline of CM occurred when they stopped hiring based on athleticism and talent causing the elimination of the shows and sports that made CM so exceptional in the 80's - 90's...
What a wonderful video, I recognize everything...some more things: "oooops I lost my badge"(always worrying about the badge- even worried about the 'badge' of people you talk with), doing Crazy Signs all by yourself after evening dinner, feeling the need to talk with every stranger you meet, I can't dance anymore without an example in front of me : ) And when a new season is arriving, dreaming of being GO again, discover new places, meet new friends (who are already friends with old GO friends)- and this I did many times...so maybe I will be never an ex GO

AAHHAA, Never a GO but 25x a GM, often for 2 weeks in the old days. For me, it was always CanCun or now Turks. I remember Sonora Bay (my first- you can never go home again) and Martinique where the little frogs say "gleep" every evening and the land crabs would invade the dining hall and go under the tables. HA. I did not appreciate Columbus Isle although it was beautiful. But the best was two times to Morea, a gem of a club with fondest memories of friends and moments. I can relate, when you return it is a chore to start to cook and do all the real-life things again but you still keep that glow and the little smile that comes from a little place in your brain that remembers all the good times. Going back to Turks again, Aug. 31. GOs are the best they are all so professional and you know they will go on to do even better things with their life. Good luck to you.
Thanks so much for sharing Steven! For me, that special Club was Turks... I loved Punta Cana and Cancun, but Turks will always have a special place in my heart. Maybe because this is where I first discovered Club Med as a G.M...? And yes, I agree, the Club Med "glow" always stays with you... :) Sonora Bay and Morea sound beautiful!
Driving again... is not as enjoyable as before being a GO. The no commuting to work was amazing just a 2 min walk from the GO building I miss that. My commute now is 1 hr to the airport then a 2.5 hr flight plus an additional 30 min cab ride to my commuter pad just for work.
Club Med was built by the GOs who excelled at their craft and truly loved being an entertainer. All over the world, in the Sonora desert where the temperature might reach 50 degrees C or in some other inhospitable corner, the villages were buzzing like a beehive in spring time with activities and laughter. In a tent or a primitive hut, we had a ton of fun with games invented by the GOs. Club Med was growing like a California wild fire building beautiful villages on best beaches in exotic locations. All of this was possible because of the GOs passion for excellence. Many of the rituals that were held close and dear to Club Med heart are no longer practiced at Club Med. A few years ago, I went on vacation at an all inclusive hotel resort on Punta Cana and was pleasantly surprised by the identical games that were no longer in existence at Club Med. The resort wisely seek out old Club Med hands to run their entertainment program. The fiery passion for excellence was and will always be the prime reason for an organization's success until an organization stops believing in it. It would be a sad day for everyone.
... and when you go back to the Club every year, or twice a year... like we do :) You'll feel constantly like "wow! I'm on vacation from my real job and from Club Med at the same time! Not moving chairs tonight! ... and hey, they like provide towels here and AC in the rooms and everything; rad" ...and other X-GOs will tell stories about how they never had a day off, how they were the most awesome (translation: drunks) in the village, and you will roll your eyes. Awesome vid... all your top 10 hit home. Thank you!!

Hey J, did you hear about the GM who was found murdered on Turks in 2018? I did some digging and there seems to be a lot of drama about a possible suspect who was an ex-GO vacationing and harassing the suspects who came with in a group of 3 female friends. I highly doubt it was a GO and happenned the way they "say it might" have happenned. From all my experience(20 yrs) going to club med, the GO's (especially a seasoned/retired GO) are absolutely the most professional, nicest and coolest people you will ever meet. Absolutely, no Chef de Village would tolerate if anybody acted the "way they reported" he acted. If anybody was harassing or just acting "weird" amongst the GM community "we" identify them very quickly. I hate how most people reporting/talking/repeating this story have actually never been to a club med. You can just detect a "snarky" attitude about so called "singles villages"...which club med are no longer that way. You know.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I just got offered a role as a GO and was very excited! ... then I realised everything I’d be leaving behind at home... my incredible job, my boyfriend, my lovely apartment... and the pay is very low. I’m sure it would be a once in a lifetime experience but I’m scared of leaving my life behind! Do you have any advice? Do you think I should go for it?
Well... That's a tough one. Unfortunately, I can't answer that for you. I left behind a great job, yes, but I was single, which I think made the decision a little easier. From what I hear, and from I know, it's difficult to keep up a long-distance relationship while you're working with Club Med. You work a lot, you meet a lot of people... Your life really changes, so it can be difficult to feel connected to your life back home. Taking the decision to leave everything behind is a very personal one... For sure, I don't regret a minute of it, and I LOVED my experience. But you do have to be aware that there's a tiny chance that you could lose all of what you have right now. I guess you have to ask yourself: if I say no, will I always regret it? My answer to that was yes, probably, so I chose to take the leap. It's something you have to think about, and it sucks but: only you have to answer to that. Good luck! Sending you lots of hugs. Let me know if you have any questions.
@@JessLaventure thank you so much for your reply and the advice. I feel like there's a possibility I would regret either decision... But i have decided to take the leap and do it! I have always wanted to experience living overseas, have wanted to see more of the location i've been assigned and I'm going to be costume designer which is my dream job. Hopefully there will be time for love later in life! xx
@@tinypurpleplanet Good decision! Enjoy every minute, good and bad. You'll remember all those moments for the rest of your life. :) Where are you headed to?
Hi Alvan, G.Os are staff members that come from around the world and who live in the resort during their contract. They also participate in G.O life, meaning they eat with guests, greet arrivals, participate in shows and other duties that are not related to their main job (instructor, barman/barmaid, restaurant positions, etc). G.Es only have to fulfill the duties related to their job, they don't have to participate in G.O life (they don't eat with guests, don't do the shows, etc.). Most of the time, G.Es don't live in the resorts, they're usually locals and go home every night.

So, did you do it?
O M G, every point is trueee 😱😱😱👌👍
Ronaldi Pram haha! Glad you can relate! :)
....You notice details at public events ( like the tag showing on atablecloth on stage) and realize...I was trained very well.
Matthew Fearnley So true! The other day I picked up trash on the street, before realizing it looked kind of weird to other people watching... Haha.
alberto shinohara, Muitas pessoas já me falaram a mesma coisa. :)
so so so true! :D
You know.
I knew a photographer from Turquoise who was shot. When I was a GO in Columbus there was a suicide and a murder in the same season!
Once a G.O always a G.O.
Absolutely! :)
@@rmsenosiain Hands up! Baby, hands up! !!
ohh God! it was very hard for me after 5 years. I had to deal with a lot of issues, good and bad ones.
Hi Alejandro, I'm so sorry to hear that! There is definitely an adjustment period for everyone. Is everything OK now?

I miss clubmed:(
I get it. But think of the experiences you had and be thankful you were able to have them. That's what I do! :)
And now you can join the Barefoot Travelers Club and come to all the XGO Reunions! :)
yes!!! lol
Congratulation. It is like that. A Lot of Kiss. Giò G.O decorateur
Thank you! 😊
@@JessLaventure I will! I am headed to Cherating Beach in Malaysia. It looks like a beautiful resort :)

¿Estás en un resort ahora?
Si estas en CDMX ya en este y el otro mes habra casting para ser GO en el hotel zocalo

Back work to club med :(
You can always apply again through clubmedjobs.com! :)
Hi jessica, i want to ask about what's the difference between GO and GE International?
Hi Alvan, G.Os are staff members that come from around the world and who live in the resort during their contract. They also participate in G.O life, meaning they eat with guests, greet arrivals, participate in shows and other duties that are not related to their main job (instructor, barman/barmaid, restaurant positions, etc). G.Es only have to fulfill the duties related to their job, they don't have to participate in G.O life (they don't eat with guests, don't do the shows, etc.). Most of the time, G.Es don't live in the resorts, they're usually locals and go home every night.
Now sorry what does a go mean
What’s G.O stand for?
I’m about to apply for club med that’s it lol. How many days do you work a week? I heard 7 and do you have your own room
Hi there! You actually get one day off a week, so you work 6 days a week. 😊 And yes, you have your own room but you share a bathroom with one other person.
Hahaha the food is one of the reasons i will be happy to be a GO
