I love your authentic and childish enthusiasm while you talking over this trucks....🙂 Its so personable....
The Unimog and Zetros are fantastic vehicles, but if you want a really big offroad camper, there's nothing better than a MAN KAT1 8x8.
Man Kat 8x8 are probably the toughest truck but they are loud inside and not as sexy as Unicat. but im thinking expedition vehicle. also i do like seeing all big trucks racing in all the EU rally race series. speed, deep water, mud, loud engines, and lots of black smoke.
hahaha you come directly with the big deal. I totally love the KAT1 Expedition vehicles. But I have to admit I would go for the Zetros. It is just so beautiful. And I would never be able to use what the Zetros actually can.
@IWrocker min 3:44 hey Ian, you will never find an european truck with gas engine! I think the last truck gas engine was built in 1968 for OPEL BLITZ (GMC) Light Truck, but couldn't really sold anymore. Here in Europe you could sell only Diesel Trucks.
Ever since I served in a German transport bataillon, I am a huge fan of the MAN offroaders. We had a few of them and at that time just fantastic.
*Fantastic.
Ever looked into Dakar-trucks / rallytrucks like the Kamaz, Tatra, DAF, MAN, GINAF and Praga?
I like how the truck division drivers pitch in and help other drivers when they become stuck.
Forvall of you!! Look up Kamaz jump, here on UA-cam.... you’llmloveit!!!
@@elfcounsul that’s exactly what thierry Sabine had in mind! Adventure….. and helping each other but like most sports or adventures when it’s becoming to hot…. Big manufacturers and sponsors come in. And money ruin’s everything…..
The last Nosed-Front generation of Mercedes lorries together with Atron family. It can feature 7.2L, 7.7L, 10.8L or 12L 6 cylinder engines.
The Chilean Army bought 120 of them specially to be used as a heavy military cargo carrier in Northern Chile, which is dessertic.
You should check out the MAN KAT1 8x8. An absolute beast of a vehicle.
it is but it cant touch civilian trucks offroad performance , still cool af
Also look up Bliss Mobil and Unidan Engineering, both companies have produced some awesome RV‘s based on both the Unimog and the Zetros.
Apparently somone has modded this for SnowRunner, I know what I'll be doing this afternoon. I need to see how it compares to the Pacific P12.
if you look closely you can see his "GENE" the Zetros is basically a Unimog on steroids!!
It basicly only got a hood to accommodate the larger engines and the cabin was moved to the rear
as a unimog, it didn't have enough hp and was given a "truck" engine with more displacement and torque.
the very first 6x6 unimog existed in the belgian army, but with the original 6 liter engine they were too weak and got the engines from the actros
mercedes is marketing this monster as the successor to the L911 (as was shown in the video) to sell it better, because many truck drivers in the world know how good the quality was
What about the Dakar trucks from Jan de Rooy?
A Zetros-camper is not just better than a House, im sure it also cost as much or even more.
I remember reading about the 4x4 Camper in a online Magazine. I think the price was about 800k Euro.
Mercedes Benz is among the top league of heavy duty commercial vehicels.
Their Passengercars have sadly ecome high maintenance unreliable rubbish.
So its not strange to be a fan of the MB Nutzfahrzeuge (commercial vehicels) division.
Those vehicels keep society running, working and safe !
Public transport, freight hauling, military, delivery, first responders etc. etc
.
You must save more.
Customs duty for motor bikes from the US to Europe: 6%, cars are 10% and lorries / semi trucks are 22%
I think this is vice versa when you import to the US and the reason why you don't see many European semi trucks in the US.
So importing such a heavy truck will problably over $180k with duties, transport and so on.
0#:05 sleek because it must fit to cargoplane .
Dakar Rally dreaming
We in Europe didn’t know about this truck either!!!.... ‘Zetros’??? Never heard of it...
It is probably not even road-legal in Europe (maybe just for the army..)
The terrain at the beginning of your vid is likely the middle east or the Sahara, definitely more south than Europe....
WTF is a "unAmog" Is that what the Unabomber drove? It's "Unimog" (You-knee-mog)
This is strange to me. Like every European truck manufacturer make there of road alternative. Sure. Mercedes got to most famous and multi use truck. But pretty much everyone have one.
How do USA do of road trucking?
Do you have ooniversities in the USA ?
brother, check dakar
MAN KAT 1 8X8
🤣 that's a lot of you tube work to.get enough credits to buy one
Couple of years ago I was lucky to see one of these expedition vehicles Zetros in Dusseldorf caravan and camper show. Amazing truck.
ua-cam.com/video/2lb5G5sP1FY/v-deo.html
2100nm equals 1549 ft-lbf ;)
the engines are not as big as you think en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_Zetros#:~:text=The%20Mercedes%2DBenz%20Zetros%20is,Benz%20plant%20in%20W%C3%B6rth%2C%20Germany.
Look at "Tatra vs. Zetros" polygon tests, which were part of firefighers tender for new trucks
Hi really Like you're content could you react to Feuer und Flamme its a Show we're you can See German figherfighters in Action
I've tested one of these things except it was a 4x4 in the Finnish Defense Forces. It is fantastic offroad, driving feel on the road is quite good, similar to a older cheap japanese passenger car, kind of raw and plastic feeling but has good ride quality. And offroad it feels like it will go anywhere. A lot of fun.
I envy you a little for that experience. Must be amazing to drive the Zetros in Finnland.
Did you ever test a pinzgauer?
we got shitty forrest to run ;P
"cheap japanese passenger car"
you have no idears about cars^^
greetings from germany
@@hmcredfed1836 oh yes, I seem to have offended your little feelings with the comparison? oh my...
Are you following the Dakar?
They have a youtube channel
Look up the MAN KAT 1 too. Also a great military 4x4 / 6x6 / 8x8 Truck.
It has a 12.7 L air cooled V8 Diesel engine and 49" tires.
If you like odd and tough trucks, take a look at Sisu Trucks from Finland
For only 150k you can get a pickup better than a Ford F150.
You should check Praga V3S
I prescribe you European trucking once a week after eating
Torque was mentioned 2100
Great that you made video about Zetros. 👍
But now when we are exploring big Mercedes-vehicles have you heard about MB-trac tractors?
Quite awesome machines, biggest model 1800, those are quite cult-machines in Germany.
Half-truck, half tractor, use some same parts than Unimogs and Mercedes trucks.
Also pretty fast for tractor.
Never seen one on field-work in here Finland, but some which i have seen were pulling trailers and plowing snow.
Here's one example from Sweden:

Zetros 6by6 vs m923a2 AmGeneral 6by6!!
Got to love German over-engineering 🎉
It's just good engineering, it's not over engineered.
Over engineering doesn't exist
@pegamini Tiger 1 tank was a very good example of overengineering. It was overly complicated build and, in most instance, had to return to the factory every time it broke down.
@@pegamini7582 I agree. People often overuse the term "over-engineering" and think every German vehicles are "over-engineering".
Even Americans cars can be "over-engineering" as well.
@@Fetguf But that doesn't mean that all German vehicles are "over-engineered"
How is it „over engineered“? I just don‘t get what you talk about.
The Germans are the best in the world. Founder of first computer, first car, first airplane, first rocket, first jetengine - the rest of the world is only trash 😢
If you can afford one of those, this probably wouldn't be a worry... But: How much would it cost to fill up, and how much would a new set of tyres cost?
✌️💙🏴🇬🇧
For sheer power and size look up the Thornycroft Antar and the Scammell Constructor and Commander! 😮
No need to get exited. This is regular business for us German engineers.
you nailed it!
You might wanna watch the documentary about Mercedes truck plant at Wörth (ua-cam.com/video/poswLXouSRA/v-deo.html), which is said to be the largest truck plant in the world. They make the Actros, Arocs, Econic, but (nowadays) also the Unimog and Zetros. Unfortunately, I couldn't find an English version, but you may get the point from the auto translate.
GINAF has insane offroad trucks, rebuild DAF trucks.
DAF Tropos are militairy offroad trucks just as the Scania Gryphus
Sweet truck! I have a 1/12 zertros rc trucking. 2speed trans and diff locks. Very capable rc truck, videos on my channel
Made in Germany at the Benz Truck Factory in Mannheim Germany.the largest Truck Factory in the World
The reason why the USA don't have things like that is the chicken tax. A 22% import tax on all imported commercial vehicles in the USA.
That's why you don't have the Unimog, the Zetros, the KAT1 and the KAT1A1, also the MAN HX and SX.
Also the very versatile VW Transporter and Crafter, Mercedes Sprinter.
All vehicles that would pulverise their USA pendants.
You should get a Mercedes-Benz Arocs RV.
Search for the worlds biggest truck facility, where do you get? -->400 vehicles a day, well over three million in total: the Mercedes-Benz factory in Wörth is the world's largest truck assembly plant. Trucks have been in production here for 50 years.
Another short Zetros Video: --> ua-cam.com/video/eN0rkELmZRc/v-deo.html
The Zetros is actually, so i call it, the "Big Brother of the Unimog". I mean, they are both incredible vehicles, the Unimog itself is like a Swiss Army Knife because it has SO many ways to use, and the Zetros is basicly the next step in size.
The best or nothing! Slogan of this Company! But Look the earlier Version of Zetros, the UNIMOG
Hey. Mercedes Benz Unimog Mechanic here. Technically speaking the zetros is „less“ modern then the modern Unimog. The reason why is you can still repair it everywhere in the world . Breaks etc. are still the same.
You can buy them, Unimog and Zetros, in the US, but Frightliner is owned by Mercedes Benz. So they would take away there own business!🤷🏼♂️
You really should watch a video abot the "M3 amphibious rig" by "engine p*rn" Its about this awsome german military amphibious vehicle... really recommend it
Needed in rough areas. Its not Oonamog.. UNI.MOG.
Worked on the 3232 and as an apprentice dropped the clutch with the airbrake on that rig jumped like a stallion...
the UNImog has front and rear diff locks and some units have central diff lock, depends on the config.
I have seen older Mercedes trucks crossing the sahara desert. With load 4 meters high, maybe 5 and people sitting on top - in both directions by the way. In my area near the mediterranean sea still tarmack but further south its all dirt roads.
Sweden here, of course, Mercedes Benz produces absolutely awesome trucks too. But not like Volvo and Scania 🤣🤣😂😂
This has NOTHING to do with vehicles.
A couple of months ago you did a reaction to what had changed people since they moved from the US.
Here's a follow up suggestion.
ua-cam.com/video/BA_lX0TjxCs/v-deo.html
Andrew has lived in Sweden six-eight years and are turning a little Swedish. This is five, or six, things where he doesn't understand what America is so far behind in.
Well, this thing is a kitten compared to a real truck. I doubt anything beats the ATI on a 10x10 HX3 in terms of looking badass ;D
An australian couple who travels australia in a camping UNIMOG have a channel on youtube ...
Man you'll go mad seing the camperized Tatra.
Here in Europe you can buy some old version of them very cheaply from lot of eastern countrys army.
Germany then is the haven to have it legally become a camper (huge tax difference). After that you have only to marry some diesel producer to move it around. You know fuel in Europe is quite expensive and that thing is not mesured in km per liter, Is the other way around, liters per km!
But in the teknoravers/travellers movement it's considered a luxury item.
You not just can easly live on the road with it, it's quite comfortable to do it off-road too. The best "van" to travel thru Africa.
In Europe are no trucks run by gasoline. All European trucks are Diesel trucks!!!
Hey Ian,
I have another Unimog video sugesttion for you.
It's on the Mercedes Benz Deutschland channel. JP Kraemer und Matthias Malmedie: Faszination Unimog
ua-cam.com/video/aGTiF8o1UJA/v-deo.html
The two guys (one a german car show moderrator and the other on a german auto tuner) were invited by Mercedes Bens to have a little field trip in an Unimog.
A lot of technical detail is shown (even the steering wheel switch for left and right side drivers.
Since you wanted to know some more detail, here is your chance 😄
7:46 "I'd sell my house" .....I have to tell you, you probably have to sell several houses... The price for the mobile home variant is around 1.5 million euros, depending on the equipment. But I can understand you, if I had the wherewithal I would buy one too. .. I love your videos
Main thing that puts Unimog above Zetrox is (in my opinion) is portals Axles. The Zetros does not have portal axles and hence far less ground clearance.
You like Unimog and the big Brother! You know the little Friends? Show in UA-cam the Multicar .
Dakar 2023 Mercedes zetros 1000hp...dutch team...
look at the benz off Road video - World's First Mercedes Maybach Off-Roader
2100Nm equals roughly 1550 foot pounds of torque.
At 73 years old the Unimog has finally finished puberty :P
I think the Zetros is actually one you could legitimately get new from the factory. I believe Mercedes makes them in Brazil too.
Mercedes-Benz Ultra Heavy Class - Zetros 6x6. Nice truck ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
dude i appreciate your videos, if u ever want to visit Germany (Bayern) i invite you as my quest of honour. im one of heavy duty variable capability truck driver
tbh 150k is a pretty good price for such a vehicle...
take a look at the "mb-trac". Very cool tractor from Mercedes Benz😉 and the Sound 🤤😅
Might be a good truck it is doing this driving without a load on the back just empty trailers. I like volvo ad with 4yr old sophie driving.
Imho you never saw the real potential of Unimog. The number of utilities and tools is unbelievable.
Reminds me of the T815 "War Rig" from Fury Road
you have import laws that don't allow many vehicles in if something similar is made in the usa, which you know it's a lie, but a truck on paper is still a truck
a brother of the mercedes unimog is the mercedes MB Trac.... the same platform and the same portal drive axles... look for the MB Trac 1800 Intercooler
@TheSavageXman i believe you compare MBTRAC which is an agro traktor (last one built in 1991) with nowadays UNIMOG which is a truck that runs 100kmh (60mph).
the mb trac and the unimog had the same platform... the unimog just had a different transmission... and the rear axle of the trac was rigidly installed... otherwise it's the same frame...the same axes....greetings from one who has driven and repaired both variants for decades.
Look up Unidan in Australia
He builds all different unimog sand zetros so cool
for 150k $ u only get the truck with out any comfot if u want some extras u need to pay ++++
idk maybe the "Survivor R" also interests you
have you looked at " Trucking Hell " its about heavy truck recovery
you should react to Bandvagn 206 i drove them when i was in the army and they are really fun to drive they have Mercedes om 603 diesel engines and they are water resistant so you can drive in water 5km/h and they go almost enywhere
Can not get Zetros in Europe anymore, does not pass the Euro 6 requirements. Not for few years already.
The standard wheel and tyre package is singles all around, but for most Australian applications the Zetros will be specified with duals at the rear, to maximise ...
Pros and cons: Easy to drive around town and on the highway ⋅ Steering predictable ⋅ Ease of contro
Doug did a review on the Unimog, you should check it out if you'd like.
you have to watch the swiss axalp 2022 it was insane and also the location is just unbeliveble its and event from the swiss army and the patrullie swiss in the swiss alps
You should watch some DAKAR rally ,awesome race
Okay stop saying diesel. every truck in EU is diesel a normal gasolin engine is to weak.
3:40
2100NM is 1550 foot-pounds of torque.
I thought that 145k USD is not a bad price.
Not as big as the mercedes titan Z
Either its the Z60 Z70 Z80
Whichever
Look for the Arocs SLT they Interessting for you.
If you are really want that Camper, you HAVE to sell your house 🤣
I like zetros more.. Specially the four door one.
It is bigger but does not have the capabilities of a Unimog!
Not so Strange that many are excited about Mercedes Benz cars since they invented the first car ever
Sadly super expensive. 600k
Naracourt is how it's pronounced...
if u like it that mutch then look at the russian version Ural NEXT
