Man Kat 8x8 are probably the toughest truck but they are loud inside and not as sexy as Unicat. but im thinking expedition vehicle. also i do like seeing all big trucks racing in all the EU rally race series. speed, deep water, mud, loud engines, and lots of black smoke.
hahaha you come directly with the big deal. I totally love the KAT1 Expedition vehicles. But I have to admit I would go for the Zetros. It is just so beautiful. And I would never be able to use what the Zetros actually can.
@IWrocker min 3:44 hey Ian, you will never find an european truck with gas engine! I think the last truck gas engine was built in 1968 for OPEL BLITZ (GMC) Light Truck, but couldn't really sold anymore. Here in Europe you could sell only Diesel Trucks.
@@elfcounsul that’s exactly what thierry Sabine had in mind! Adventure….. and helping each other but like most sports or adventures when it’s becoming to hot…. Big manufacturers and sponsors come in. And money ruin’s everything…..

The Zetros is actually, so i call it, the "Big Brother of the Unimog". I mean, they are both incredible vehicles, the Unimog itself is like a Swiss Army Knife because it has SO many ways to use, and the Zetros is basicly the next step in size.
I'm following you since quite a while. I love your enthusiasm and great personality. I bet it would be a blast to hang out with you. Your content ist always really cool and informative. Keep on keeping on. Best greets from Germany, man. 😃👍
The last Nosed-Front generation of Mercedes lorries together with Atron family. It can feature 7.2L, 7.7L, 10.8L or 12L 6 cylinder engines. The Chilean Army bought 120 of them specially to be used as a heavy military cargo carrier in Northern Chile, which is dessertic.
I have seen older Mercedes trucks crossing the sahara desert. With load 4 meters high, maybe 5 and people sitting on top - in both directions by the way. In my area near the mediterranean sea still tarmack but further south its all dirt roads.
When this video, I was imaging it as an RV and there you go, it exists! Naracoorte (pronounced the second way you did it), SA has some cool caves with thousands of fossilised mammal remains. We will be visiting it in a few weeks. Will also get a look at some red rocks in the Flinders Ranges.

I have only one thing to say; Dakar desert rally trucks, there is even a fun video called "Kamaz T4 Dakar Truck Chases a Volkswagen Polo R WRC" which is a good showcase of what these trucks can do..
you gotta check out - Unicat 4x4, 6x6, and 8x8, global expedition vehicles. the best RV made. The Zetros also makes global expedition vehicles (RV) too. also check out Dakar Rally Race and Africa Eco Rally Race and Fenex Rally Race too see the trucks you like as Race Trucks.
A Zetros 2743 was exhibited at a military exhibition in Paris. Its 12-litre inline six-cylinder diesel engine produces 315 kW (428 hp) and delivers 2100 Nm of torque.
I totally love the Zetros. My dream is a 4x4 with a short bed and a full crew cab. The lower emission classes are made so the truck can run on also low quality diesel.
In am born & raised in the biggest Garison City in Australia. In the 80's I had 3 Brother in laws in the Army. And every New Year my Parents usually had a big party. There's a company near me that uses these (as the "Secutor") for agricultural work. They got a limiter in them, so they're slow, but still cool especially because being reclassified as "agricultural vehicles" you don't need a truck-license to drive them^^
Lots of Mercedes trucks down here. I have seen a Zetros truck in Sydney but not up here in Queensland. Most of the semi's I see are of the cab over type which seems to be the norm for Euro trucks.
Needed in rough areas. Its not Oonamog.. UNI.MOG. Worked on the 3232 and as an apprentice dropped the clutch with the airbrake on that rig jumped like a stallion... the UNImog has front and rear diff locks and some units have central diff lock, depends on the config.
Great that you made video about Zetros. 👍 But now when we are exploring big Mercedes-vehicles have you heard about MB-trac tractors? Quite awesome machines, biggest model 1800, those are quite cult-machines in Germany. Half-truck, half tractor, use some same parts than Unimogs and Mercedes trucks. Also pretty fast for tractor. Never seen one on field-work in here Finland, but some which i have seen were pulling trailers and plowing snow. Here's one example from Sweden: ua-cam.com/video/XonyaWAJty0/v-deo.html
Main thing that puts Unimog above Zetrox is (in my opinion) is portals Axles. The Zetros does not have portal axles and hence far less ground clearance.
I love Mercedes trucks, I learned truck driving on a Mercedes and to make you a bit jealous: I've been driving tens of thousands of kilometers on the Unimog 1300 with trailer during my army service in diverse terrain and climate conditions. I wish you all the best to get your hands on an Unimog one day. Btw. check out the military Zetros configuration of the German Army.

Man you'll go mad seing the camperized Tatra. Here in Europe you can buy some old version of them very cheaply from lot of eastern countrys army. Germany then is the haven to have it legally become a camper (huge tax difference). After that you have only to marry some diesel producer to move it around. You know fuel in Europe is quite expensive and that thing is not mesured in km per liter, Is the other way around, liters per km! But in the teknoravers/travellers movement it's considered a luxury item. You not just can easly live on the road with it, it's quite comfortable to do it off-road too. Hey. Mercedes Benz Unimog Mechanic here. Technically speaking the zetros is „less“ modern then the modern Unimog. The reason why is you can still repair it everywhere in the world . You must save more. Customs duty for motor bikes from the US to Europe: 6%, cars are 10% and lorries / semi trucks are 22% I think this is vice versa when you import to the US and the reason why you don't see many European semi trucks in the US. So importing such a heavy truck will problably over $180k with duties, transport and so on.

That's why you don't have the Unimog, the Zetros, the KAT1 and the KAT1A1, also the MAN HX and SX. Also the very versatile VW Transporter and Crafter, Mercedes Sprinter. I love your authentic and childish enthusiasm while you talking over this trucks....🙂 Its so personable....
Look up the MAN KAT 1 too. Also a great military 4x4 / 6x6 / 8x8 Truck.
It has a 12.7 L air cooled V8 Diesel engine and 49" tires.
For sheer power and size look up the Thornycroft Antar and the Scammell Constructor and Commander! 😮
Ever looked into Dakar-trucks / rallytrucks like the Kamaz, Tatra, DAF, MAN, GINAF and Praga?
I like how the truck division drivers pitch in and help other drivers when they become stuck.
